Has anyone seen this movie? I recently caught it and it changed my opinion of Sandler. I was never a big fan, took him for what I thought he was, your basic light comedy actor. But he was incredible in this one.

For those unfamiliar, Sandler plays a man who lost his wife and 3 daughters and even his dog in the 9/11 attack. It's an intense look at a man trying to recover from losing his entire world.

IMHO he should have been nominated for an Oscar, his performance is that strong.

Sandler's a better dramatic actor than he is comedy.

He's great in this and even better in Punch-Drunk Love, imo.

Punch-Drunk Love was awesome. I love that movie.
Yo Duncan228 if you want to see him in another movie that isn't his typical Billy Madison-Happy Gilmore stuff then see that one.

I had no idea he had it in him. I haven't seen Punch-Drunk Love, thanks for the tip. I have new respect for him, if he's even better than he was in 'Reign' it must be great.

I liked him in Spanglish.

Good movie, you felt for him, he made you feel his pain.

And he did it in such a 'real' way. He was messy, and up-and-down, and even as he started to come out the other side you could see the hole in him. I was really impressed by him. It was directed well too, I thought it had great pacing.

Oh, and the soundtrack was great too. Springsteen, Jackson Browne, and of course The Who with the Title track, and Pearl Jam's version to close it.

The Pearl Jam cover for 'Reign' is even more impressive...

Adam Sandler, Robin Williams and Jim Carrey are all great actors that put in great dramatic performances every now and then, but they get passed over for Oscars because the following week, they put out stupid movies like Zohan, R.V., and Dick and Jane

Adam Sandler is a great dramatic actor, but I think he needs to choose those roles wisely. He doesn't have a lot of range, but he excels at playing introverted, quiet, internally conflicted characters. Then again, he delivered a pretty good performance in Spanglish, and that was a different type of role for him.
