PHOENIX -- Devin Harris scored a career-high 47 points, including 21 in the fourth quarter, and the New Jersey Nets ended their 14-game losing streak at Phoenix by rallying to beat the Suns 117-109 Sunday night.

The Nets had not won at US Airways Center since their first visit in 1993, but they used a late run to overcome the Suns.
With Harris becoming the second player in two games to score more than 40 against the Suns -- Miami's Dwyane Wade had 43 Friday night -- the Nets scored their second road victory in two nights, after beating Utah on Saturday.
Harris, whose previous high was 38, hit 14 of 25 field goals and 17 of 17 free throws in a dazzling performance.
For the second straight game, the Suns were turnover prone. They committed 22 turnovers, leading to 33 New Jersey points.
Vince Carter added 28 points for New Jersey, Yi Jianlian had 14 and Brook Lopez 12.
Steve Nash, who missed Friday's game because of a thigh contusion, led the Suns with 26 points and nine assists. Amare Stoudemire had 25 points and 11 rebounds before being ejected with his second technical foul with 3:24 remaining and Phoenix leading 100-98. Matt Barnes had 18 points.
Harris put the Nets ahead for good 102-100 with a basket with 2:11 remaining. New Jersey finished the fourth quarter with 43 points, overcoming an 11-point deficit starting the period.
The Suns started much more aggressively than in their home loss to Miami on Friday night -- called the worst game of the season by coach Terry Porter -- and built a 23-11 lead after the opening 6:18. By the end of the first quarter, the Suns had set a season high for points in the opening period, leading 35-24. Barnes was a big factor in the period, hitting all three of his 3-point attempts.
But the Nets, spurred by Harris' 12 points, went on a 20-7 surge midway through the second quarter and took a 50-48 lead on a 16-foot turnaround jumper by Harris. However, the Suns responded with a 9-0 burst, triggered by a 3-pointer by Bell, a slam by Robin Lopez and two field goals by Nash, and went to intermission with a 62-56 lead.
Harris finished the half with 21 points and Carter had 14, but the Suns had four players in double figures, topped by Stoudemire's 15.
Phoenix padded its lead to 11 points after three periods as Stoudemire continued to torment the Nets' defense with an assortment of shots, scoring eight of the Suns' 23 points in the quarter. Only six turnovers prevented the Suns from building a bigger advantage.
Meanwhile, the Suns kept Harris in check, allowing him only five points.
Game notes
New Jersey was without two of its key players -- center Josh Boone (left ankle bruise) and forward Eduardo Najera (strained lower back). ... The Suns won the first meeting between the teams this season, 114-86, Phoenix's highest point production and biggest margin of victory this year. ... The Nets' Keyon Dooling needs one steal to reach 300 for his career.

Isiah Thomas saying "Fuck You, I ain't playing in Dallas," Harper dribbling out the clock, Tarpley's penchant for nose candy, Jim Jackson mangling his ankle, Toni Braxton, JET failing to pick up Nash coming across the midcourt line, Dwyane Wade shooting 50 free throws a game, We Believe, now this...

Seriously, I'm going to stick my head in the oven.

We Spurs fans tried to tell you Mav Fans that Devin Harris was a mixture of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and an effeminate midget.

Credit where credit is due. However, as it turns out, DeSagana Diop is NOT the second coming of Bill Russell.

Jason Kidd for Devin Harris, Ryan Anderson, and an unprotected 2010 pick. Thorn does it again. The only thing left is for the Mavs to blow up the team, rebuild, and ensure that lotto pick next year is as high as possible. Either way, it's a historically bad trade.

Is that pick totally unprotected? I doubt that .......... then again the Mavs were pretty desperate to get a deal done.

I think if the Mavs end up in the lottery, it's protected, then it rolls over to the next year, kinda like the Suns' Atlanta pick. I think, don't quote me on that.

The 2008 pick was lotto protected, but the 2010 pick is completely unprotected.

A brief search had several sites confirm it. Including here:

New Jersey receives Dallas 2010 first round pick (unprotected). (Jason Kidd trade 021908).

I feel for you. If i was a Mavs fan i would probably be exploring the suicide route. As of now i'm a Pistons fan, and only have depression over Billups. Give it time though and the oven will probably sound like a good idea to me too.

edited to add;

If only our teams traded Billups for Harris. At least that would be more balanced.

Our owner has made some terrible mistakes. I wish I could trust Dallas's owner but that is a part of being a fan of a team. You gotta deal with the stupid things they do.

Nets are 9-7 while "rebuilding" and can look forward to a bright future

Mavs are 8-8 while "contending" and can only look forward to Smoky returning so they can be an even shittier team

Steve Nash didn't play.... anyway.

I've bashed Harris in the past when people compared him to TP (think back to 06 playoffs)... but damn he is playing insanely good ball right now.

My bad.

Nash played tonight, but according to those that watched the game, Barnes and Hill "guarded" him in the 2nd half.

Traded Traylor to Milwaukee for Dirk and someone, maybe Garrity, that Nellie then traded to Phoenix for Nash, leaving Boston to have to pick Paul Pierce. Maybe the Bucks fans are waiting for it to go around. :)

yup..Nash guarded him for parts of the game, but Barnes and Hill were the primary covers in the 2nd half, mainly Barnes..

I was at this game, and I don't know where to start. I had a bad gut feeling from the get go, and I was expecting that 4th quarter collapse. I thought Kobe was a really undeserving first all team defender, but the fact Bell is considered one makes me laugh. At this point I want this team blown up, it's going nowhere and nowhere fast, tank the season for either Demar DeRozen or James Harden.

Maybe Cuban can just hire Devin for 2 mil/year as a mentor in charge of raising the FG% for the current crop of Maverick PGs.

maybe he can hire Bell Barnes and Nash as the defenders in practice so they can get their confidence up.

That's horrible, but your former assistant GM Sam Presti took Kerr to the cleaners on the Kurt Thomas trade a lot more. Kurt Thomas, Serge Ibaka, an athletic freak in Congo right now, and the worst, a 2010 unprotected pick from the Suns, which in all likelihood is a top 10 pick, and at worst is Ricky Rubio. So, potentially, Kerr trade KT, Ibaka and Ricky Rubio for nothing. The Kidd trade was bad, THAT was worse. Was Thorn with SA before going to the Nets? I honestly don't know

A point guard going off for a career high against the Suns? WHO KNEW.

This is conclusive proof that Steve Nash should, at most, have one MVP. He is one of the worst defenders in the league, especially this season. I like the guy, but he's going to be a huge liability the rest of his career.
