Knicks' Walsh Tells Marbury to Keep His Distance

Stephon Marbury (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Stephon+Marbury?tid=informline) was ordered yesterday to stay away from the Knicks (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/New+York+Knicks?tid=informline) while the team looks for a solution to the latest controversy surrounding its point guard.
"After meeting with Stephon and his representative this afternoon, we have directed Stephon not to participate in practice or attend games until further notice," Knicks President Donnie Walsh (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Donnie+Walsh?tid=informline) said in a statement. "We want to continue to meet with him to discuss a long-term resolution."

· ROCKETS (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Houston+Rockets?tid=informline): Star Tracy McGrady (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Tracy+McGrady?tid=informline) is expected to be out at least a week and his playing time will be restricted when he returns while he struggles with soreness in his left knee following offseason surgery.

With Tracy McGrady’s return uncertain, the Rockets have gone 1-2 in the three games he missed and are 21-48 in games McGrady has been out since the 2004 trade.

Tracy McGrady said he will be out of the Rockets' lineup for another three weeks as he works on rehabilitating his sore left knee, which underwent arthroscopic surgery and has been a problem all season.
"Probably about three weeks," McGrady said following Tuesday's workout on the Toyota Center practice court. "Obviously, I came back a little bit too early. My knee is still healing and it's not ready."
McGrady's pronouncement that he would be on the shelf for most of December was a mild surprise to Rockets officials.
After the 6-8 guard was evaluated by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. Monday, the team released a statement saying Dr. Andrews had confirmed the initial medical assessment of Rockets team physician Dr. Tom Clanton that McGrady is suffering from general soreness in his left knee related to his continuing rehabilitation from off season surgery.
The statement said McGrady would continue his current rehab program designed to alleviate the discomfort in his knee, would likely miss a week and would continue to have his playing time restricted upon his return in order to lessen the stress on the injured knee."
"That wasn't said," McGrady said, shaking his head. "That wasn't said of something I could play through, at all. So my word is I have to rehab. I have to rehab for a couple of week and I have to gradually work my way into practice and we'll go from there. But right now, I won't be playing for a couple of weeks."
Rockets coach Rick Adelman tried joking about his injury-plagued team.
"Let's me ask you," Adelman cracked to reporters, "Who do I have tomorrow? It's kind of been a never-ending story this year with guys in and out."
Adelman did not want to be drawn into a debate between the statements by McGrady and the medical staff.
"I wasn't involved in the statement that they put out," Adelman said. "All I is know is when he does go on the court, he's got to be able to push himself and go through it and if he can't do that then it's best for him not to play until he feels comfortable doing that.
"It's how he feels, what the medical people say and obviously they feel he needs to rehabilitate it a little bit more and see how he is when he comes back. Which ever gets him on the court and makes him healthier is what we need to do." McGrady has already missed the Rockets last three games and is scoring just 15.6 points a game, his lowest average since the 1999-2000 season in Toronto.

It doesn't matter. McGrady does nothing significant for his team. I'm sure they won't miss his 40% shooting.

I'm about to hop off the Mcgrady bandwagon. I've been trying to be a good fan and have patience because of his injuries.I'm getting sick and tired with his," I think I need an MRI", then not, need 2 games off, day to days, 1 week, 3 weeks." SOB!!!aaaaaahhhhhh!!!!:bang:madrun:cuss
