Hopefully it's something minor, well as minor as cancer can be, and can be dealt with.

It's scary to hear those words, though. It's a weird feeling to have your life grind to a halt.

From what I know it's cervical in nature and they found it quite a while ago, but there was a chance it was just a cyst. I recall her telling me it's benign, but I guess with these things anything can happen.

That can actually be good news. Found and treated early, cervical cancer is 98-99% curable.

I was reading up on that type of cancer a while back, and it is common for women to get it around Bone's age. I knew this girl who got it at 22. But she is completley cured now. I give women credit though, they are normally on top of getting their normal checkups to catch that sort of thing early and have a chance for a 100% recovery from that sort of thing. Us guys are normally the idiots who basically wait until we are dead men walking before we give in and go to the doctor.... lol Honestly if it weren't for my job requiring us to take physicals every so often, I know I would never go.

I'm in tears because of this thread. Thank you everyone for your well wishes! Danielle is doing okay and will most likely be discharged from the hospital today. So far all we know that it is a Stage II "C" cancer. She may or may not need chemotherapy, we are not sure yet. we will know more in 2 weeks. Thank you again for all your kind words and prayers, we have A LOT of people praying for her! Hopefully she can get on later herself to thank all of you. It's been hard for all of us, but I know she will pull through.

You know, I came out of the hospital with stage III heart failure at 32 with pretty grim prospects, and I have to say that the support and prayers from all of the people here at Spurstalk have been INSTRUMENTAL in how well I have recovered. It really helps to surround yourself with good people. I know Luvbones will be ok with this kind of support. Remember, we are all here for you and for you too Spurfect. If you ever need anything, don't be afraid to ask. I know I owe all of you more than I could possibly repay in one lifetime!

Spurfect, can you tell us if LuvBones was able to get health insurance at her veterinary job?

Spurfect
12-05-2008, 04:02 PM
t-long - I believe she purchased her own insurance independantly because her job doesn't offer it. I really don't know how good it is and what it covers. she just had major surgery to remove two cancerous tumors from her body and I *think* it covers that but I'm not sure. We never expected cancer so who knows what the insurance covers as far as treatment for cancer.

Paki thank you so much. I'm happy to hear that you are recovering well. The power of prayer and people's love is really incredible. The best thing to have at times like this is a great support system. You guys are awesome. thank you!

Although I've never met you, I know from your PM's that you were so excited earlier this year when you won the pair of Spurs tickets that I gave away on this site. My wife was diagnosed with a sarcoma two years ago and beat it so I know your sister will as well. We have blue cross blue shield federal and it covered about 90% of everything and that included radiation. Of course not all insurances are the same and some will cover different things. I am sure that this can be researched. Remember stay positive. My prayers will be with your sister, you and your family.

Wow.. thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes.. thank you Adrian for starting this thread and letting everyone know what's going on. I'm soo thankful to have so much support and prayers from so many places. I know with all of this I can get through it and beat this cancer.

So, my surgery went really well. They removed two large tumors, one was 20cm big! O_O and they had to remove one of my ovaries, but kept one because I'm still young and haven't had children yet. The other ovary did come up positive for cancer though and there is also some free floating cancer, but luckily none in my lymph nodes. Right now I'm just in bed recovering, but soon I will go back to the dr. and find out what the next step in treatment will be. Hopefully chemotherapy will kill what's left and I won't need a second surgery. But again, I'll know more in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again everyone for everything. I am truly blessed to have the family and friends that I have.. they have given their lives to be here for me and make me feel happy and comfortable. This is really a life changing experience and I'm just grateful to know I have lots of love and support! :)

I really wish you well and hope for your recovery. I can tell from your posts that your are a great, caring person. It's so hard to be young and have an illness. It really puts things into perspective. I know that I totally took my health for granted until I got sick myself. Anyway, my uncle had brain cancer. His tumor was so deep that he couldn't have an operation. However, he is still around and living his life and staying active. Again, my thoughts and parayers are with you. I really hope you get better.

Ezequiel 37:
1The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
2and caused me to pass by them round about; and behold, there were very many in the open valley, and lo, they were very dry.
3And He said unto me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" And I answered, "O Lord GOD, Thou knowest."
4Again He said unto me, "Prophesy upon these bones and say unto them, `O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.
6And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.'"
7So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.
9Then said He unto me, "Prophesy unto the wind. Prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, `Thus saith the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.'"
10So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11Then He said unto me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, `Our bones are dried and our hope is lost. We are cut off from our parts.'
12Therefore prophesy and say unto them, `Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13And ye shall know that I am the LORD when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14and shall put My Spirit in you and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land. Then shall ye know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it, saith the LORD.'"

You will get well again... I have faith for both of us.

Wow, I'm so shocked coming into this thread. Its the last thing I expected to read. I am glad you are recovering girl and know that you are definitely in my prayers. I can't imagine what it must have been like for you and your family. They are also in my prayers. Its such a scary thing. Ever since we lost the Flo not that long ago, I am so much more conscious of cancer. I never realized how many young people it actually hits. Please let me know if you need anything. I wish you all the best.

From what I know it's cervical in nature and they found it quite a while ago, but there was a chance it was just a cyst. I recall her telling me it's benign, but I guess with these things anything can happen.

I was told the same thing when I last went to the doctor for a physical and told I had a cyst and it was benign, but the doctor ordered a sonogram that came back with something irregular and so she then ordered a Cat-scan of the abdomen which my insurance refused to cover because I wasn't in pain. Can you believe that? Isn't that the point, to figure out and treat whatever I have before it gets me to that point, having pain and something much more serious. I was furious. That was over a year ago and I never went back. Now I'm thinking I need to look into that after hearing about all these things.

Wow, yeah I would get that checked as soon as possible. I ignored my issue for so long because I had no insurance and no real way to cover the bills and I regret it now. I'm sure you'll be fine though, just don't let things go anymore when it comes to your health. Hey can you believe I still have the footprint with the story on my keyring? I love it! I've always loved that story and I find myself reading it a lot, especially lately. Thank you again for that present.. I'm suprised I haven't lost it since I've gone through so many keychains. It really must be special. :)

Guys, this thread is so uplifting to me.. you don't even know!! lol I like to read this thread a lot.. it really brings me up and I feel all special having such support and prayers sent my way. Thanks sooo sooo much! hugs and kisses to all of you!

my mom was also diagnosed with cancer. Luckily, it was caught early. I have some sense of what your family is going through right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

LuvBones,

My prayers are with you as well. My sister was diagnosed with cervical cancer at 27 and she had to have a radical hysterectomy. Thankfully, they caught it just as it was about to spread to other parts of her body. She is fully recovered about a year now and is doing great now and it has definitely given her a new perspective on life. At any rate, I have faith that God will pull you through and you will be so much stronger for it. You seem to have a very good outlook on things, so I applaud your positive attitude! Stay strong, sister! :toast

Faccia de Angelo --- :nope Get that checked out immediately!! :D

Thanks!

Jenn

Hey everybody, I just wanted to give an update on my treatment. I saw my Dr. today and he said he highly recommends chemotherapy. If I do this he says there is an 80-90% chance that it will be completely treated and I can live my life healthy again. My other option is to have surgery again to remove everything but then I wouldn't be able to have kids, and also there is still the risk of the cancer returning. So I decided to have chemo.. it will be six sessions altogether, one every three weeks. It's going to be tough but my family is already planning how they can help me out in every aspect. I could really use any support I can find... mostly I wonder if anyone else has gone through this and can tell me their stories and/or what to expect with chemo. I can't really remember all the stuff about the cancer itself because I can't remember all the medical terms, but my sisters wrote down all the notes and let me just take in everything.. so if anyone wants to know more details please PM me and I can get that info. Thanks for all the support everyone! Oh and i'll start the treatment after the holidays so I can enjoy the rest of this year. :)

Enjoy your holidays and take care of yourself. Chemo isn't an easy thing but I'm sure it's going to work wonderfully for you. There are other people on the board who have gone through cancer treatment themselves, so I hope they reach out to you to offer support.

We are all praying and thinking off you.

But isn't it only certain types of Chemo that causes hair loss? I knew a girl who went through much more regular Chemo therapy's and she still kept her hair. I think she was just weaker than normal. But I will see if I can get in touch with her so I can relate the experiences on here for LB.

I don't know, My mom went threw it when I was starting like 6th grade, So I knew when it was and my aunt had just pass away from cancer but I did not know the details. Still really don't she came out ok and don't want to revisit that memory so I don't ask.

I've never been through chemo myself, but many people very near and dear to me have braved it and made it through. Best of luck and lots of strength to you - you've got a good support system behind you, and everyone I know that's been there has said that it's the people that care that made it bearable :)

My sister is a 3 time cancer and chemo (and one round of radiation) survivor. Like you, she has a wonderful support network. Use it. Your family and friends can help you through this physically and emotionally. Their love and strength are the best thing for you.

If there's a chance you'll lose your hair and that bothers you, you may want to look at and get a wig in advance. By the 3rd round for my sister, she and some close friends made a day of going wig shopping. There were lots of laughs, and some tears, but it was a great thing for my sister to do. It let her feel some control.

I wish you the best LuvBones. Your ST family is thinking of you.

^ Thanks I will keep that in mind. The Dr. did tell me I will most likely lose my hair so I'm thinking, since I've been growing out for over a year, to cut it short and donate my hair before I lose it all. Then I'll look for some wigs when it gets to that point.

Thanks to everyone for the support. :)

Luvbones...as some on the board know, I went through cancer treatment back in 1992-1993...surgery, chemo, radiation therapy. After my treatment ended I go in every year for a checkup and I've been cancer free ever since. I'd be glad to share with you some of the things I did for myself to make the process smoother, and hopefully prevent it from ever returning.

If you're interested I can talk with you about those things...let me know.
