Michael Crabtree's father told the Dallas Morning News Thursday that his son is leaning towards declaring for the NFL Draft after this season.
Michael Crabtree Sr. said he was surprised to hear that his son told reporters earlier this week he was thinking of returning for his junior season at Texas Tech next year.
"He hasn't told me that," Crabtree's father told the News. "We're pretty much leaning toward coming out. But it's up to him. If he wants to come back and win championships, I won't be mad at him."
Crabtree's father said he plans to sit down with his son after the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards show next week and make a decision on his future.
"It's still up in the air right now," Crabtree's father said.
Crabtree has struggled with foot and ankle injuries for most of the second half of the season. After earning the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver last season, his numbers have dropped significantly from his freshman season.
Crabtree produced 134 catches for 1,962 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2007. This year, Crabtree notched 93 receptions for 1,135 yards and 18 TD grabs. His most notable catch provided the Red Raiders with a dramatic 39-33 victory over No. 1 Texas on Nov. 1 in Lubbock.
