Dude is definitely a tough low post big man. He will become a free agent in 2010, short-term contract, not much a burden. He can definitely provides athletism. i'd say we throw JV and KT.

If you want a French run after Batum or Pietrus but not Petro.

Petro has better for us, good defender and shot blocker Wilcox has no idea what defense is! Another wasted talent from Maryland.

As far as Frenchies go, I think I remember Bruno saying that the Spurs might go after Mickael Gelabale.

When did Johan Petro become tough?

When did Chris Wilcox upgrade himself above an overpaid festering sore?

his per 40 numbers aren't bad. the problem is that he makes so many mental errors that coaches won't keep him on the floor for even 20.

he's playing on the worst team in basketball with no other established post players, and they only give him 22 minutes/night. that should speak volumes.

I forgot about him. Bruno did say this earlier.

How tall is he? and what is his regular position?

This could be a better option than Hairston if he's a small forward that can play defense. When he heals the Spurs should call him in and take a look at him.

I say no to Petro for two reasons :

First, he isn't very good. His defense is, at best, suspect and he stays too much on the perimeter on the offensive end while he should be in the low post given his skills (or lack of) and his body.

Second, his attitude is bad. He is as me first as you can and what he says to French medias is in the Beno's mold.

For the rest, Wilcox plays no defense, Mikki Moore isn't better than what Spurs have. And I really like Gelabale for Spurs : he is long (6'7 or 6'8 with a good wingspan), athletic, quick, defensive minded, smart...

who needs GELABALE, when we have GIST the FISTS comin over next season at a cheaper scale contract.....

i'm really not sure that it would be right now a good idea to go after frenchies, because i simply don't see any really worthing it. we have tony and let's hope ian will be useful for us, it will be enough. gelabale and maybe batum will be interesting players. i'm rather upset by everyone else.

Petro has a worse attitude than Beno did on his worst day. You'd have to go to the Stephon Marbury and Antoine Walker school of attitudes to find a worse fit than Petro on the Spurs. He's a unique mix of thinking he's great but at the same time not caring enough about basketball to work on his game.

A little anecdote about Petro :
I remember in a interview he made few weeks ago that he called Jeff green and Kevin Durant by their numbers. :downspin:
I don't remember any BB player calling his teammates by their numbers while they have played more than one season together.
