One of the reason that Bosh could come here in 2010 is that he was born in Texas in Dallas.

I want to know what players were born in SA ?

the city of san antonio is not very large so the population here is not pretty large rationally. therefore, I'm afraid there's no san antonio born player who is very famous. I can't make sure that there is absolutely no player born in san antonio but it's true that none of them is famous.

SA not big??

As of the 2000 census, SA was the 9th largest city by population in the US, ahead of Detroit, Boston, Baltimore, etc.

As for SA born players...

Player - Birth city

Michael Doleac - San Antonio
Jeff Foster - San Antonio
Bo Outlaw - San Antonio
David Wesley - San Antonio not active

That's all the current players I can find.

Not sure if someone else had made the official correction. But San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the U.S. So yes, this city is huge indeed.

Don't forget that Nejeria guy. He's from San Antonio. Can't remember his first name and the correct spelling of his last name. He plays/played for the Nuggets from the bench.

Devin's family moved to San Antonio when he was 2 years old, I think.

I love that Avatar you've got of Big Red and Barbacoa. That is San Antonio on Sundays....I miss it. I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan and missing everything about home.

San Antonio may be in the top ten cities if you look solely at population within the city limits...but if you add in metropolitan areas, I think it drops way down the list.

That's true, but 2 million people doesn't make it a small city as the previous poster was trying to say.

Robert Reid who spent most of his career with the Rockets was not born in SA but went to Clemens High School.

If someone would actually add a TV station to San Marcos or New Braunfels that covered everything between San Antonio and Austin the SAA area would become one of the biggest markets. Many companies when looking a markets already consider San Antonio and Austin to be one market.

Given that about 80% of NBA players are African American while the city of San Antonio is just under 7% African American, it is not hard to figure out why a lot of players in the NBA are not from here. On the other hand, Houston and Dallas are about 25 % African American.

Excuse nullified.

They also only have 4 players currently in the NBA- which is the topic of discussion.

If San Antonio is the 7th largest city, why is it considered a small market city? Just something I always wondered

San Antonio is larger than Dallas by population within the city limits. Five of the top ten most populous cities in Texas are in the DFW metroplex.

Because SA is a poor city, comparatively speaking.
