Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich

On the game - “I was pleased with the focus tonight. We maintained our aggressiveness and energy the entire game. We played good team defense and shot the ball well. It was a good combination and we got the win.”

When asked if scoring 30 points in a period is something we can expect to continue - “(jokingly) Sure, why not? We’re known for that. Why change?”

On the Spurs efficiency tonight - “We did it in long periods of the game. Some games we only do it for a quarter or a half. We maintained our aggressiveness longer tonight.”

“Our focus has been defense mostly. Period. We did shoot the ball better tonight. Shooting well makes a big difference obviously.”

Manu Ginobili

On the game - "We just try to move the ball…be more aggressive…find the open teammate. It’s the things we always try and do, but sometimes it just doesn’t work. We’ve had two great games, and hopefully we can keep this trend going.”

“Defensively we were there, too. They’re a high-scoring team and we kind of controlled them. They shot really bad percentages so it was a great overall performance.”

On having more weapons on this team than they have in the past - "Maybe. It’s kinda early still. We’re going to be able to tell more about this team after 50 or 60 games. We’ve got talent. George and Roger have been two great additions that keep the intensity [up] for 48 minutes.”

On the defense played tonight - "[Pop] is a defensive-minded coach. At the beginning of the season and for some parts of last season we struggled to score, so it’s really good to see the team scoring 120. I guess [Pop] is very happy about that.”

Roger Mason, Jr.

On the game - "We had a good night. I think we started the night really defending and sharing the ball out there. Everybody played unselfishly tonight and we made our shots.”

Is it contagious when the ball just keeps going through the net? - “It gets contagious. It also gets contagious when you see guys who make the extra pass. Tonight you saw guys making the extra pass and when that happens and we are making shots, it’s fun to play basketball.”

Are you itching to get in the game when you see how things are going? - "As a competitor you’re always like that, especially when guys are playing so unselfishly like we did tonight. It’s just a fun time to play ball.”

Warriors Head Coach Don Nelson

On the game - “Well that was just a good old-fashioned ass kicking.”
“We used this game as a chance to play some of the young guys and to let some of the others, like (Stephen Jackson) and (Corey Maggette), rest. Now we move on.”

“There have been games where we’ve played well and lost, and there have been games where we’ve played well in just three quarters.”

“We hoped to play San Antonio when they were injured but we didn’t make it in time. We played badly tonight, and they can always make you look worse than you are.”

Jamal Crawford

On the game - "A game like this you simply just have to flush it down the toilet. When you lose by forty points the next game can‘t come fast enough. We just have to try to bounce back and get ready for Oklahoma City.”

On what has been the difficulty this season - "Playing together, and stepping up on defense and helping each other out. There‘s some great offensive players in the league and we can’t ask one guy to stop one person, we have to be a team.”

On how tough this stretch has been - "It‘s been very difficult. When I saw the schedule I knew it was going to be a tough schedule but hopefully soon, January or February, we can make up for it.”

Brandan Wright

On the game - "We just have to try keep getting better. We’re going to have some losing streaks but we’re going to have some streaks this year the other way as well so we just have to continue to play hard and stay together as a team”

On if they saw this game going this bad tonight - "No, not at all. It happens, it‘s the NBA, losing streak, winning streak, we‘re just going to have to continue to keep playing hard and stay together as a team and not giving up as we still want to compete and play hard.”

On Tim Duncan’s performance tonight - "You know, he‘s Tim Duncan as he‘s one of the best players in the league and he‘s a definitely hard match-up for any team as he played well against us and we just didn‘t have an answer.”

I wish they'd taken a quote from Maggette about the game; I remember after he decided to sign with Golden State for $50 million, Corey said Duncan told him he understood, and not to take the whoopings personally.

With a little perspective, is he still glad he took the money, or does he wish he was on a contender? I know it's twisting the knife a little, but maybe it will make other free agents think twice about it. Probably not, but you never know.

Nah, the paper always speaks loudest for today's athletes. However, Duncan did indeed warn Magette about the whooping, and then proceeded to deliver a beat down.

The Duncan quote:

...But Maggette knows what changed. He went north to Oakland, for five years and $50 million, a consolation prize for the Warriors, who wanted Brand more. He took more money than he was offered in San Antonio ("Tim Duncan wished me well, and told me not to take my whippin' personally," Maggette said) to join a more nebulous situation with Golden State.

I don't think that would have helped. Spurs were playing rather smoothly prior to manu and tony's return.

i'd be curious to see the assist differential and the number of passes per possesion particularly during the first 3 quarters.

Warriors suck A$$ this year. Losing B-Diddy and Monta Ellis really hurt them and they are still a donut team. Biedrins is a PF.
