I was looking through some of the scheduling and I think the Lakers have BY FAR, the worst back to back schedule of ANY team.
I think the scheduler hates the Lakers...I think the scheduler is a Spur or Celtic fan.
If you think your team has a tougher back to back schedule than this, let me know.
Here are the Laker B2Bs, I've left out the 3 easy B2B sets.
Nov 11 @ Dallas
Nov 12 @ New Orleans
Nov 20 @ Phoenix
Nov 21 vs Denver
Dec 9 @ Sactown
Dec 10 @ Phoenix
Dec 19 @ Miami
Dec 20 @ Orlando
Dec 22 @ Memphis
Dec 23 @ New Orleans
Dec 25 Boston game at Staples but after the Lakers play 4 games in 5 nights against good teams on the road.
Jan 6 vs New Orleans
Jan 7 @ Warriors
Jan 13 @ Houston
Jan 14 @ San Antonio (WTF is this? Rox & Spurs B2B on the road?)
Feb 4 @ Raptors
Feb 5 @ Boston Muthaf*****" Celtics in Boston on the 2nd night of a B2B?
Feb 10 vs OKC
Feb 11 @ Utah
Feb 17 @ Atlanta Hawks
Feb 18 @ Warriors
Mar 11 @ Houston
Mar 12 @ San Antonio (WTF is this? Rox & Spurs B2B a 2nd time on the road?)

The Lakers schedule has not been easy. One of the harder ones so far. Not as hard as the Blazers but still difficult.

Tell us when the Lakers have to play 11 out of 12 on the road, including games against: Lakers, Utah, Phoenix, (the only home game is right after those first 3 road games and it is against New Orleans), Denver, Boston, Toronto and Detroit.
You think Sacramento is part of a hard back to back game? C'mon..
Apart from the Hou+SA and PHX+Denver, Rap+BOS your team is gonna have a somewhat easy time beating those other teams.
In another note, I did looked throught the Spurs schedule and they do have easy back to back games. Only one I saw that could be kinda hard was Dallas/Portland and New Orleans/Orlando
But we do play Houston and Boston just one day in between. That will be hell.

The Spurs had used up most of their easy Road games by that point in the schedule. I think there are something like 3 easy road games left at that point.
The away games against good teams have to be played sooner or later, might as well do them on the Rodeo trip.

Sacramento Kings always play the Lakers really well in Arco Arena.

The other ones are pretty difficult, no gimmes. And the Lakers get Hou+SA TWICE-B2B-On the Road... that's craziness, I've never seen that before.
I also found the 4 games in 5 nights on the road against good teams right before the Boston Celtics game on Christmas a bit fishy.

Allanon this is the reason why you can forget the 70 mark. I think it's almost impossible for a west team to achieve 70. First there are too many good teams and second compared to East teams travelling in this conference is a nightmare: long trips and jet lags.

IMO if the lakers achieve a 65 it will be a huge performance.

4 games in 5 nights against GOOD teams? Try 2 games in 5 nights against good teams, 1 game in 5 nights against a mediocre team, and 1 game in 5 night against shitty teams.
Lakers have historically been beneficiaries of regular season scheduling.

I believe (and I'm not going to look this up because it's been the same way for years now) that the Jazz always play the most B2B's of any team because Larry Miller doesn't like Utah playing games on Sunday. That means most weeks we have 4 games in 6 days, which results in a ton of B2B games.

This is really unfair, the Lakers have mighty teams like the Kings, Grizzs, and OKC in their B2Bs. That said, the Lakers may or may not win 75 games this season. Either way, I am right.

Not the number of B2B's. The quality of the opponents, especially on the 2nd night.

Those poor, poor Lakers...
Maybe Stern will help them out by forcing the Nets to trade them Devin Harris for Chris Mihm.
Findog

It sure sucks to be a Lakers fan...just when you think you might have a good team, Stern forces you to trade a promising big and former #1 pick for a washed-up Euro fag.

That just goes to prove that Stern is out to get them. They should be allowed to play all 82 games at home. It's too much of a hardship for them to leave southern California. You should be grateful for the opportunity of losing to them at Staples.
Allanon
12-08-2008, 02:52 PM
If Stern wasn't out to get the Lakers, he should have made them play tough teams only at home.
I still haven't seen any team with a harder B2B schedule.
The pictures are good though :) But c'mon, how could you have missed this one?

In the end, all 30 teams will have similar "strength of schedules", with the teams from the stronger conference having a slighter degree of difficulty.
As far as the most difficult stretch, the Pacers just played the Lakers, Celtics, Cavs, and Celtics.. dayum

I think you guys will win the Cavs / Suns set.
You'll probably get one of the 2 Blazer games, the Rose Garden is a hard place to win in.
And on a sidenote, I toldja guys the Kings game would be a tough one for the Lakers.
And yes, OKC Thundah give the Lakers problems too.
