The second location is opening this weekend I think.

Sad.

Malik moved his entire family here from Philly.

I know Kori really sad. But honestly I love Malik but I think this makes the Spurs a better team. What do you think?

Nothing changes. Just werer Malik will play.

Philly Phamous is very successful.

Malik has something to fall back on when his NBA career is over.

great! SA could use some good Levantine and N. African restaurants. :)

uhh..it wasn't like Malik was behind the counter making the sandwiches...it shouldn't hurt the restaurants...might even get a sympathy bounce...

Malik just had a new house built last year and moved his mom and brothers and sisters here to live. Now that he has two businesses and his family here, I believe San Antonio will be his permanent home and he'll find some place just for him to live in New York but will stay here during the off season and once he retires.

Antonio Daniels still lives here during the off-season and Robert Horry's family is still in Houston I believe. When Steve Kerr was traded to Portland, he didn't move his family and I think I heard yesterday that Gary Payton's family was still out on the west coast somewhere.

San Antonio has become Malik's home - this trade is just business, but I will still really miss him and his goofy Gunn commercials!

I for one think this could be a really good move for Malik.

He wasnt getting any playing time here. Hopefully he can over in NY.

I am sure his restaurants will continue to do as well as they would if he stayed.

He has been in SA long enough that San Antonians wont forget about him just because he will play in NY now.

Well it is his family members who work there. He moved his whole family here from Philly. I wonder if they move with him to NY or stay in SA.

My bet is they take one look at the comparable costs-of-living and weather and stay. Maybe it'd be different if Malik was married with kids.

On the Steve Kerr question, Kerr was actually just in the process of moving his family up to Portland when he found out he had been traded back.

My husband just drove by his new one a few minutes ago and said it was completely empty.
