Avery Johnson AKA the little general makes the winning basket and puts a ring on the San Antonio Spurs fingers after a 25 year wait. And what do they do? They get rid of him, They turn there back on the poor man.

Now they send Rose packing like some sort of homeless man who has been sleeping on there side walk to long. And the sad part about it is the spurs use the excuse that it was a Money Issue? Someone tell five head Don Harris that he needs to take off the Homer glasses for just 2 minutes and say it like it is. Rose and Pop had personal issues,

By the way where are all the bone headed spur fans who sad Rose was on the bench because of coaching and not because he was in Pops doghouse? I told all of you last year Randy Moss is not getting along with Red and the team. And now look where he is headed....

next time mighty mouse tells you there is a problem with a professional sports player you better drop what your doing and take notes,

Sad day today, but what do you expect from a back Stabbing team like the San Antonio spurs...

If trading a player is backstabbing, then every player that has ever been traded, has been backstabbed. It's called business. Players get traded, coaches get fired, it's all part of the game.

Rose had some wonderful years here but now he's on his way to New York. I wish him all the best and I thank him for the years he played for us. It's not like Pop and Rose were best friends, you know. No backstabbing here.

Some folks have a lot to learn about sports. Trading (or backstabbing as some of you like to call it) is part of the business. Every players knows it. I'm sure Malik is somewhat relieved that it finally happened.

Just because certain posters don't kiss your spurs loving ass does not make them a Troll...I guess you want all homer talk? Besides
Didn't you just toot your horn and make a topic about how many folks are at this website? How many trolls you think are here now? Are you sure they are all Spur fans?

Your a sad excuse for a Spurs fan and you suck at smack talking.

Naw, I like the guy. Phoenix was willing to pay Nash more than Dallas, some even said at the time overpay, so he left. The Van Horn move was a contract dump, I'm assuming.

Excellent post, Mouse. I knew you'd find an angle to bring some kind of heat to this conversation. Stir it up, bro!

It's funny you bring up AJ in this conversation. I loved both when they were here. As it turns out, AJ made room for something much, much better. Hopefully the Malik deal works out the same way.

Oh, and you're wrong about Malik and Pop having personal issues. The only issues were the result of Pop holding each and every player on the team to a standard of performance, and Malik not meeting those basic requirements. Nothing personal...Pop set the standard, and outlined the consequences for anything less. Malik's performance was below that standard, so he had to bear the consequences of his performance. That's not personal, it's just the system.

The system that has won us two championships.

...so far.

I don't personally care what the reason was that sent him packing. He knew he was going to get shipped out, he's been on the trading block longer than Saddam's been in US custody, and he's been in and out of the doghouse since he signed his big deal.

And this isn't AJ we're talking about here, the starting point guard who brought hardware to SA with a big shot in NYC. This is, on a good night, the third guy off the bench. A 30 year old undersized role player.

When I think loyalty, I think of guys like Reggie Miller, who's been starting at SG since 1987 for the same team. Not some chump who only started 40 games in seven years, got a big payday, and then declined ever since.

Mouse...you are the king of smack but you are wrong on this one. All you have to do is look at the Nash situation and realize that. These are businesses and unless you are in charge of the purse strings, you will probably never get it. Sure, mistakes are made but someone has to make decisions and that is usually "management".

That is not something I am proud of. It's a dam shame no one in this town would step up to the plate when Johnny Bottom-line was all over the radio talking his laker smack I had to do something about it, I would love to pass the torch to someone else...

Bro trading Nash and Rose is not the issue. it's the way you go about it that is wrong. Besides why would the spurs offer all that money to Rose if they plan to renigg and trade him anyway?

Mouse,

Pop runs things the way that Pop wants to, and we accept it because he coached the team to two titles.

Why did he get rid of Bob Hill on Xmas eve the day David Robinson is ready to play?

I've wondered that for years. Although Hill was a pretty good coach at the time, he was clueless about what to do with in the face of adversity...evident in the 3-15 start that year and his getting replaced at Fordham after four losing seasons by Derek Wittenburg, the airball-alley oop guy from NC State with no head coaching experience.

That, and Pop is a bit of an opportunist. But if you're going to be one, you'd better be really good or people will question your motives. And he's done that.

Come on, people...a forum like this if perfect for trading smack. If you get your panties in a wad and go tell, you're taking this too seriously. Go to a GTG (I've only been to one, and it was awesome)...you'll see that this is all in fun. People who kill each other on the board get along fine in person. It's the disagreements that make all this entertaining. I'm so glad it takes so much to get banned here. It wouldn't be the same without the Mouse/Sequ/Jim/TPark contingent that bring opinions with passion (whether or not they even really believe the shit they're defending so passionately - see "mouse").

We could do without LakerGod and wolves009, though! Ban those bitches!!!

It's funny because the Mavs did the same to Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, and Jim Jackson when they were their best players. Don't be a hypocrite. At least we will always have a place for AJ and Malik when they stop playing just like we had a place open for Monty Williams and Danny Ferry.

we traded a 6'5 backup tweener center for a 6'9/6'10 big. what is the issue with that?

why is it back stabbing? he is still a millionare... the spurs are always looking for ways to get better... any one not named duncan (and now probably tony and manu) are open season... it's a business... poor malik... has to play basketball in new york for millions of dollars instead of in san antonio...

direct your sympathy to the people that deserve it.

There is no backstabbing or disloyalty here!!!

Malik was often in Pop's doghouse and knew he'd be traded if the team could find a taker. We've been trying to offload him for two years!!! Hell, we overpaid him OUT OF LOYALTY in the first place!
