It's snowing off of DeZavala.

I traveled up to Boerne and there was close to an inch of accumulation on the grass. Enough to build a snow man. I took some pictures and I'll have them posted up by tomorrow.

I heard hail last night but there wasn't snow.

This weather isn't good for little doggies that need to go outside and take a shit. My dog refused to go out and I had to force him. He hates me right now.

I found this beautiful winter poem and thought it might be a comfort to you. It was to me, and it's very well written.

I felt it really captured my own feelings about winter.

hail?

Yeah, you know, a form of precipitation which consists of balls or irregular lumps of ice (hailstones). Thanks Wiki.

I thought I heard hail also, but when I looked out it was raining with frozen rain mixed in. It was tiny, but really loud.

HAIL
Precipitation that originates in convective clouds, such as cumulonimbus, in the form of balls or irregular pieces of ice, which comes in different shapes and sizes. Hail is considered to have a diameter of 5 millimeter or more; smaller bits of ice are classified as ice pellets, snow pellets, or graupel.

SLEET
Also known as ice pellets, it is winter precipitation in the form of small bits or pellets of ice that rebound after striking the ground or any other hard surface.

FREEZING RAIN
Rain that falls as liquid and freezes upon impact to form a coating of glaze on the colder ground or other exposed surfaces.

SNOW
Frozen precipitation in the form of white or translucent ice crystals in complex branched hexagonal form. It most often falls from stratiform clouds, but can fall as snow showers from cumuliform ones. It usually appears clustered into snowflakes

I see snow at least 30-40 days out of the year.

No biggie for me.

It is funny to watch people who are not used to driving in such conditions drive in them.

Katy - you got sleet not hail. Hail is formed by different dynamics. Please dont ever make me say Viva is right again. Please.

Snow parade????

Most people here like to see snow, excpet for the people that see it all the time and have to shovel it from time to time, scrape it off their car every so often, track it through buildings, etc...

I do like the first snowfall of the year, its the rest of the time I could do with out it.

You can go back to your snow parade now. Tell Frosty the snowman I said Hello :p:

Steve Brown says we thinks we had hail last night since there was lightning and that is a sign of a convective storm which have the updrafts that cause hail so I was wrong Katy and you were right. This makes me happy cause Viva was wrong too. YES.

Never will I doubt you again Katy.

Of course the moron on one of the local Austin TV stations said "we could have another winter weather event" next Tuesday.

1st time in nearly two years Austin saw a measurable amount of snow (0.1") , first time in 12 it saw snow in December.

This was directed to the mostly South Texans on the board, we don't get snow that much, more so San Antonio.

We definitely got snow. It was mixed with the rain, but it was falling slowly.

Rare Snow Blankets South Louisiana

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect Until Noon

POSTED: 6:59 am CST December 11, 2008

NEW ORLEANS -- People across south Louisiana called their friends, grabbed their cameras and headed outside this morning to document a rare and wonderful sight: snow.http://www.wdsu.com/sh/images/ibs_icon/hearst/video.gifCovington Residents React To Snowfall (http://www.wdsu.com/video/18254049/index.html)The last snowfall in the New Orleans area was on Christmas Day in 2004. Before that, 1989 was the last significant snowfall. The sight is so rare that many children were seeing snow for the first time, and adults were seeing it for the first time in years

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

no snow in 15 years and now twice in 3 years? global warming indeed.

It's true. But it was so cool! In the evening, during the game, big fluffy snowflakes - REAL SNOWFLAKES, not just frozen rain or sleet! - swirling around in the air and landing on us.

The roofs were white and the trees, and there was enough gathered on our patio furniture to make a snowball - a SNOWBALL!! - that I threw at Jason. The dog ran around trying to bite it out of the air.

One of the best evenings ever, srsly. So much fun. Feels like a good omen.

My boss was supposed to drive in from Houston this morning to give me a performance review - he stayed there because he said the conditions weren't conducive to driving. LOL!

That's OK, it's a lot harder to hide your scorn for someone when you're in the same room.
