I rarely ever start threads, but i think this is for a good cause. This is a sort of petition, for Pop, of how we Spurs fans would love to see Bowen starting again with the Big 3 to make it complete.

nope, with the big 3 on the floor together we need 3pt threats out there w/ them to spread the floor, keep defenses honest, and(of course) hitting open 3's. Finley and Bonner are much better choices than Bowen for these things.

Hmmm, I don't know. I definitely would prefer not to see both Bowen and Finley starting, and Pop doesn't look like he's going to send Fin to the bench anytime soon. If Bonner is really going to stay in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future, I would leave things as they are and try to get the rotations set.

Because he hit a three?

Then, there is the thought of keeping Bruce fresh to close-out games.

no because of his defense.

haha...no walton not cause he hit a three. I think any sane spurs fan would say that Bowen should start rather than Finley. Finley needs to shoot to be effective, Bowen doesnt. Bowen is our defensive stopper. We need that rather than another shooter.

the only reason he should be in is so the arena can yell BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCEEEEEEE when they announce him, that was awesome

who cares if he starts or not? as long as Pop uses him. I would sign a petition of less Finley more Bowen.

Very suprised most people here dont care about Bowen starting or not. I dont think this current lineup is championship material just yet. It looks odd on paper.

Parker
Ginobili
Finley
Duncan
Bonner ????

Parker
Ginobili
Bowen
Duncan
Oberto

sounds a whole lot more like a championship starting 5.

I like Bowen coming off the bench. The guys on the Morning Drive said it best. They talked about how Bruce Bowen should come off the bench as a defensive spark, and being an X-Factor, not offensively, but defensively, and it made sense.

i dont like it.

its going to change soon.

I'm all for situational lineups. Bruce, like Manu...does not have to start to have his greatest impact.

Bruce should start and should gaurd the opposing team's best perimeter player...it's that simple.

I'm not for him getting a ton of minutes like he did in past years, but I think Bowen could set the defensive tone early if he started.

yea but i would think its about balancing up the lineup. You already have the best offensive trio in the NBA and why would you add another jumpshooter who mostly gets his shots off by designed plays??

i think having Bruce really balances it out and makes them a whole lot better from the tip. Finley doesnt do it for me.

It's never that simple. I think the best move Pop made so far this season was to have Bruce coming off the bench. But at the same time I don't like Finley still starting. Bottom line: Bruce is 57 years old. He's already a freak of nature because he can still play at a high level, but the when he was starting, you automatically take points away from your starting line up. Especially early this season when Bruce was a complete NON factor. He can't stay a starter forever. I'm sure his playing time will vary from game to game depending on matchups, but it's kinda like the Manu not being a starter thing. Doesn't matter if he starts, as long as he gets the critical minutes.

I'll +1

Bruce is getting older, but starting him would bring some defensive presence out the gate. Why let our opponents start raining jumpshots and getting lanes to the basket on Finley when Bruce is good at is preventing that from EVER happening (at least the opposing player ever getting a flow). If Pop brings him in off the bench on a hot player who isnt JJ Barea, he probably doesn't affect him nearly as much as pestering him from the get-go.

The mins could be similar.
