View Full Version : We need to get Mason much more involved in the offense...

It's understandable that his numbers would take a hit with the return of TP and Manu, but it seems like the guy is still getting ignored out there. It feels like there aren't nearly enough plays run for him at all.
Team are understandably paying more attention to Mason due to his hot 3 point shooting (though he's dipped to #11 now in that category), but Roger deserves more minutes and deserves to be a bigger part of the offense instead of simply being relegated to a spot up shooter.
I'm sure the coaching staff will eventually figure out how to get him more involved as it'd be nice to have additional players to the big 3 that we can count on, night in and night out.

I really think it's just a matter of time.
Roles are still being defined, Tony and Manu aren't playing at 100% just yet, and the familiarity/chemistry is still a work in progress. Once the Big 3 gets it rolling, all the periphery players will fall into place.
If Mason can recapture the form he started the year with, Bonner keeps on rolling, and Havoc continues to progress though...
Like Roger told Tony before the Denver game, this team's gonna be a beast.

I really hope we have most of the same players next season. We have a lot of potential

I hope JV is gone, but I don't think there's a realitsically way to get him off the team, since Holt won't straight dump him, and no team will be dumb enough to take him. And unless Ime shows up, I hope he's out too.

Yeah, Ime is dead weight at this point. I wouldn't even mind dumping him for a draft pick at this point.

Yeah until someone gets hurt and a D Leaguer stinks and everyone will then say "Man its a shame they dumped Udoka...."

I don't think he is worth a draft pick as he has like negative trade value. What does a 1 million expiring do for a team anyway?

Udoka is a great player to have chillin at the bench... Just incase we get another Injury...
We should instead get rid, or trade Jacque Vaughn for atleast a Pick for This Years Draft... Alot of good young players coming...
Now that I think about Jacque, we possibly have to throw some cash along with the trade... lol

We've seen good shooters turn into bad shooters in Pop's system in the past. From what I've seen so far, I believe Mason deserves an expanded role. Even though Finley has been OK recently, Mason will be the more reliable option going forward.

IMO Mason should be the starting SG, manu the 6th man, and Fin SF(unless we need Bowen for defense at the start of the game). I still don't understand how Finley can be so bad at defense after being in the league for so long. Surely Pop and FIn realize this shortcoming, yet do nothing to improve it, that I can see. :hat

i would agree if we were losing and our offense was sucking. but that is not the case. were healthy in scoring right now with a lot of different options. mason is a pro, he understands his role and that and any night he may be called upon if the others are cold.

Not to bust your bubble. But thats really all Roger is. A jumpshooter. Yes he is faster then Brent Barry. But Roger unlike Brents(ole days), cant finish. He doesnt do well when he drives to the hoop. Had Brent not gotten old and always hurt. He would have been a better fit then Roger. And no, Im not a Roger hater one bit. Just saying it like it is. Roger isnt a slam dunk contest kinda of player. He can play great ball in this league. Coming off the bench or sub-starting. But he isnt no all-star player.
