UAW members accusing southern-state senators of trying to break the union on behalf of foreign automakers.

I don't doubt that one bit.

Half the union workers I know are dead weight when it comes to work performance. I have no sympathy for the unions because of what they have done to work ethics, and how the union members vote for unrealistic benifits.

They have what they deserve. The fear of becoming unemployed.

When the unions were created at the start of the 20th century they had their place, but now over time, they have created problems that we are now paying for. Plus management has stayed stagnant in terms of diverisfiying their product lines. They seem to be dominated and focused more on trucks, than small fuel effecient cars. Granted trucks have their place, but for those who are just commuters to and from work, school, grocery store, shopping, how about some smaller more fuel efficient cars that are are worth buying.

I think unions still have their places, but not with the amount of power they managed to cram together over the years. A small union normally is not a major problem. It's the big unions and their unrealistic demands of benefits and compensation that are the problem.

Why haven't the automakers built hybrid or more fuel efficient cars? Is this the union's fault?

They have.

That has nothing to do with this.

GM sold 400k more vehicles than Toyota (who made 17B profit) and they still lost $40 billion.

UAW leaders making claims that I posted in the orignial thread opener is a JOKE. All the libs are so quick to call out Bush yet so quiet at my little statement. It shows a lot.

They have.

what took them so long? i understand that you see unions as the root of all eveil but to ignore the lack of foresight by the heads of the automakers should make them at least equal to blame.

They would appear that way to one ignorant enough to the other side of thinking that comprehension is nearly impossible.

Or they could acutally be small and insignificant. You know how I see them.

Yes, I get many laughs out of this forum considering I am the conservative minority here.

LOL, now these UAW fags are going on a media tour blaming the republican senators.

All because the UAW refused to declare a date to which they would provide competitive wages by.

well if we had things like universal health care, then we wouldn't have a need for most of what the unions provide...
i'm all for right to work, but i think unions do have their place(service, telecom, electrical, plumbing, etc) but in some in industries, mainly manufacturing, they have become a dated business model...
if the workers/retires had govt health benefits, the unions would lose 33% of their reason for existing...
but the same ppl who are anti-union, don't want equal rights when it comes to health care, they'd rather spend our tax dollars bailing out wall street.........
