Another one bites the dust.
Scott Brooks is going to be in the top half of coaches, in terms of seniority, by the end of this season.

Time to see if Butkus can lead this rag tag team of kids and their unlikely female point guard.

i'm sure that firing a-rod's dad does a lot to help the talent level of that team. good move kings! this move should help kevin martin get healthy too!

Did the Maloofs ever think it was bc their team is garbage and not to mention the fact that their best players hasnt played most of the season and you traded their 2nd best player for Bobby Jackson

Is easier to fire a coach then move a player it sucks but thats the way it is. I agree that the roster outside of Kevin Martin is pretty much garbage.

Too bad,
I acutally think that Theus is a good coach. It's not his fault he's saddled with a sucky team.

Yikes. We might see 10 coaches axed before the season ends.

Reggie Theus Fired; Is Still A Very Handsome Man (http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/reggie-theus-fired-is-still-a-very-handsome-man-21371)
:lmao
It’s Monday. If you’re an NBA coach, that means there’s a decent chance you’re getting fired. The latest to be thrown from the train is Kings coach Reggie Theus, whose coaching experience on “Hang Time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_Time_(TV_series))” didn’t translate so well into the NBA. Although, to be fair, it’s not like he was given a whole lot to work with.

The Kings are an absolute mess right now. They’re retiring numbers of notorious floppers (http://sportsbybrooks.com/flailing-kings-retiring-jerseys-of-divac-webber-21297) and the owner’s out having strokes (http://sportsbybrooks.com/sacto-kings-coowner-joe-maloof-suffers-stroke-21312). The only win in their last 11 games, oddly, is a 12-point victory over the Lakers. Maybe Reggie can now get back into coaching in the WAC and start getting clowned by kids from Utah (http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/utah-state-fans-hold-reggie-theus-lookalike-night-bad-stache-body-oil-prevail-12327) again.
The SACRAMENTO BEE’s KINGS BLOG says the ax came down at about 10:00 this morning (http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sports/kings/archives/017821.html). And Theus isn’t the only one looking for a new job. The Rifleman’s now looking for work too:
A Kings head coaching position that has been a musical chairs post in recent years changed once again around 10 a.m. on Monday morning, when - according to two sources close to the team - Reggie Theus was fired along with assistant Chuck Person and assistant Kenny Natt was given the role of interim head coach.
By all appearances, Person’s firing is tied to his culpability as the team’s defensive coordinator as well as his close relationship with Theus. While Natt was the lead assistant, Person had taken on much of the lead assistant role midway through last season and had a much greater influence on Theus.
As I remember, Person just ran back-and-forth between the three-point lines and fired up 28-footers whenever he had the chance, so maybe he wasn’t the best guy to be running your defense.
The timing of this announcement isn’t shocking, given KINGS BLOG’s reaction to the team’s 114-90 home loss to the Knicks on Saturday night (http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sports/kings/archives/017802.html). Seems that not only are people staying away from Arco in droves, but they had taken to heckling their own coach:
Saturday night’s crowd at Arco Arena was uncharacteristically brutal. If you didn’t know better, you would have sworn the Kings were playing the Knicks in New York. As the Kings were being hammered 43-21 in the opening period, Reggie Theus turned toward one particularly vocal group seated behind the press table and asked, in his classic, controlled manner, “Do you guys like those seats?” That shut the guys up for a few minutes, but they were back at after intermission. They blasted the Kings for being “soft,” for that 17-3 drubbing on the boards in the first quarter, for their indefensible defense - most notably the inability to defend the three-point shot - and stayed on Theus throughout.
“Thank god they sell beer,” cracked one of the fans, a longtime Kings partisan from Walnut Creek. “This is unwatchable.”
The Kings are headed for their worst record since the 1997-98 season, when Eddie Jordan coached them to a 27-55 record. Jordan is available, should the Kings be interested in returning to irrelevance for the long haul.

It's interesting to see how many NBA coaches have been fired and yet Mike Dunleavy manages to keep his job but he's the GM....he cant' fire himself can he? He should but the Clips won back to back games against quality opponents so maybe his message is starting to get through to the stepchildren of Staples center. :hat

Yikes. We might see 14 coaches axed before season ends.
Fixed. The GMs decide to fire their coaches due to not making the playoffs.
