Read that he's highly seeking to go to Miami

No freaking way. The last thing the Spurs need is a ball hawk who plays absolutely no defense. You think Payton would ever come off the bench either? Career over.

So if they decide not to report to their team...why does that not nullify their contract?

No defense? The guy is THE GLOVE you gotta fucking be kidding right? Yeah he's not as young as he used to be but he's still a decent defender and can take pretty much any point guard in the league down on the block and own him, he's twice the defender Beno is even at thirty-six...

Wrong verb tense. He WAS the glove.

It doesn't nullify the contract, but thats where the part of him forcing a buyout comes in.

Am I the only person that hates buyouts? Let these fuckers rot and not get a paycheck.

Hell, Rasho could probably beat him off the dribble at this point...

Tony Parker exploded the myth of The Glove almost three years ago as a skinny 19 YO rookie PG. He didn't just beat him, he UNDRESSED him in a major way.

Yeah, weren't we calling him the "oven mitt" or something back then?

Pop quiz... what zero-time all-star won Finals MVP and who guarded him?

I would take Payton.

Taking Payton would be a major mistake. His career is really winding down, plus ( assuming we waive Brewer and are able to get Sato back), we would have to cut Sato.

BINGO. Payton was exposed in that series. He was a liability for the Lakers, and it forced the Lakers to depend on Derek Fisher even more, and he was practically playing on one leg.

Pass on a Payton pick up.

I fucking hate that shit.

Childish and immature. You sign a fucking contract, part of that contract is that you are to go where you are traded unless there is a no trade clause.

You signed it, deal with it.

Fucking babies.

I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of buyouts, but I'm guessing Atlanta is fine with it in this case. I really don't think they even expected him to suit up.
