Yikes! I get to work late, (I'm working part time now...I need a new job..sob story blah blah blah blah) and my co-worker is in the suite next door talking to the girls at ACORN Housing (our sister organization that shares a main office with us). This is not out of the ordinary so I just sat down and started to work. Then my co-worker, Jake, comes over all panicked, "Oh my gosh, did you see what happened?"
"No, I just sat down. Why?" I answered.
"ACORN Housing got broken into." I was shocked. I always feel like the building is pretty safe and choose to ignore the fact that I'm not in the safest part of town, regardless of what I hear on the news or hear on a daily basis..sirens and all. And you can all call me names if you want. That's how I feel.
They didn't take anything from our side of the office, even though we have some pretty neat expensive shit (and don't ask for my address). If they did that sure would have sucked.
I was the last person to leave the office last night..around 6:30 pm so this had to have happened between then and when the other girls got here at 9. :ihit
Well, they took three new computers and a cell phone (that doesn't work). They also went into two other non-profits that are in the building and took things from their offices. I have no idea what they took from those offices, but nonetheless, it doesn't make me feel very comfortable being here by myself after everyone leaves.
Just a story to brighten up everyone's day. :)
Oh and ACORN has a story in the Current. Check it out:
