Not really. We played poorly and stuck with them in NO. If we lose, I'm not overly concerned.

Why keep Finley on when he can't hit a barn and Mason is on the bench?
Why keep Bonner when he is cold and KT is having a terrific game?
This is the kind of obvious shit that Pop misses that gets me mad.
Bonner is playing good defense and spreading the floor.

No, when we are playing well we score a lot on the paint. NO are very good at clogging it up down there and forcing us away from our game. When we live and die by the 3 we aren't playing well.
The problem is we make 2 or 3 Js in a row and fall in love with it. After making a few jumpers we should go inside on every possession.

After all this hullabaloo about the Spurs offense, the same droughts come to bite them in the ass.

Final: Hornets 90, Spurs 83 (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/spursworld/2008/12/gameday-spurs-vs-hornets.html)
By Joe Alexander
FOURTH QUARTER
The Spurs made only three baskets in the last 11 minutes of the game. Their offensive collapse cost them in a 90-83 loss to the New Orleans Hornets.
Tyson Chandler made a pair of free throws with 2:13 left to put the Hornets in front 80-79 and give them the lead for good. The Hornets outscored the Spurs 18-4 to finish the game.
The Spurs are coming up empty on offense and their lead is gone. The Hornets lead 85-79 with 1:45 left in the game.
The Spurs have a 79-78 lead with 2:25 left. The Hornets have all the momentum. The Hornets' David West has hit back-to-back 3-pointers. The Spurs made only two baskets in the first nine minutes of the quarter.
Manu Ginobili is back in the game with 5:37 left. Expect him to remain in the game until it's decided.
The Spurs lead 77-72 midway though the fourth quarter. The Spurs are throwing lots of double-teams at Hornets guard Chris Paul and he sometimes looks frustrated.
The Spurs are struggling early in the fourth quarter with most of their starters on the bench. They lead 74-67 with 8:50 left. Expect to see Tim Duncan and Tony Parker back on the floor soon.
The Spurs opened the fourth quarter with George Hill, Manu Ginobili, Bruce Bowen, Matt Bonner and Kurt Thomas.
THIRD QUARTER; DUNCAN HELPS BUILD LEAD
The Spurs outscored the Hornets 12-5 to finish the third quarter and take a 70-63 lead into the final period. Tim Duncan had five points in the last 2:20 of the quarter.
Each of the last four field goals made resulted in a lead change. A Manu Ginobili currently has the Spurs in front 58-56.
The Hornets are on a 10-3 run. They cut what was a nine-point Spurs lead early in the second half down to 53-51.
The Spurs got the first two baskets of the second half on jumpers by Michael Finley and Roger Mason Jr. Matt Bonner got a dunk for his first basket of the the game and followed with a 3-pointer.
SECOND QUARTER: DUNCAN'S 10,000TH REBOUND
Manu Ginobili scored 10 points in the second quarter to spark the Spurs to a 42-37 halftime lead. Tony Parker led the Spurs with 14 points, including their last five points of the half.
The Hornets' Chris Paul made a steal with 3:43 left in the quarter. That gives his a steal in an NBA record 106 consecutive games - passing former Spur Robertson who had a 105-game streak.
Matt Bonner has given the Spurs an offensive boost in the first half of several recent games. Tonight, however, he doesn't have it going. He missed his first four shots. Midway through the second quarter he is the only Spurs starter who hasn't scored.
The Hornets' Devin Brown hit a 3-pointer to give New Orleans a 26-23 lead.
Tim Duncan recorded his 10,000th career rebound with 7:45 left in the first half.
Ginobili made his first basket early in the second quarter. He followed that with a 3-pointer and the Spurs lead 23-20.
FIRST QUARTER: HILL'S 3-POINTER
This is starting to shape up as a tough, defensive grind. George Hill hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the first quarter to give the Spurs a 15-14 lead.
This should be a learning experience for Hill. The Spurs rookie is in the game and matched up with Paul, perhaps the best point guard in the league.
Both teams are either playing tough defense or are not shooting well. The Spurs are shooting 29.4 percent and the Hornets are at 35.3 percent.
Ginobili is the first player off the Spurs' bench midway through the first quarter. Former Spur Antonio Daniels, in his third game with the Hornets since being traded from the Wizards, is in for New Orleans.
The Spurs' shots aren't dropping early and the Hornets are off to a 10-7 lead.
Bonner has the defensive assignment on the Hornets' David West, who is averaging 20.3 points per game.

That was a forgettable game for almost everyone. Only Bowen, Thomas, and Hill played worth a damn.
Finley, Bonner, and Mason all missed tons of open shots, Ginobli turned it over too many times, Paul got the better of Parker, and Duncan was swarmed by the defense and forced some things.
Big let down in the 4th quarter but chalk it up to a bad game and get ready for tomorrow night.
Why don't you get a grip on your fucking anger, moron. You haven't said one interesting or insightful thing this whole thread.

What a pussy 3 pt attempting team we have become. When the shots are not dropping, put the damn ball on the floor and drive it to the rack. Bonner repeatedly, Findawg, Mason, everyone.

Then with 15 seconds left and down 7, Manu passes up the trey and drives it to the rack.:downspin::downspin:

This was a game to say "F you, Hornets"; especially with the way they were treating us??!!? WTF? They were disrespecting us to the max and no one stepped up. We just watched them do it and then proceeded to choke away our lead.
Agreed. Spurs just looked intimidated in the 4th, like the Hornets told them they were going to get punked and they just nodded and bent over. Pop will rip into them though so they'll learn as usual.

Should've known that if the game is on the fuckin' 4-letter network, that the Spurs will find a way to lose that game.
Those last few minutes reeked of DOWNY SOFT play. Wide open 3's clanked and an inability to defend or garner needed offensive rebounds. Pop didn't use all his tools for this one. I don't know if it's to teach a lesson or that he just stuck with the small ball late. But to let a team go on a 13-0 run on you is inexcusable and for a team as defense minded as the Spurs, it happens at all the biggest games on National TV. :bang

I think the Spurs will destroy the Hornets in a playoff series. The Hornets defense was terrible. I don't expect the Spurs to have 4 bad shooting nights in a row. Overall I think this game wasn't a setback at all. Sometimes your shots just don't fall.

People need to CHILL. This game is a perfect example of why the regular season does NOT matter for Coach Pop. Here's why:
1) Bonner was cold, freezing cold. However, in order to keep Bonner's confidence up, Coach Pop told to shoot every time he was open. Also, he put him in during crunch time.
2) Kurt Thomas had his best defensive game tonight. If this game was in the playoffs, Thomas would of been in there for the majority of the second half no doubt, especially with a decent lead.
3) Manu would have been put in earlier in the 4th quarter in the playoffs.
Now for some game notes:
1) The Spurs played really good defense today, until a few lapses late in the game. The offense is what let them down.
2) It looks like double-teaming West was the best way to counter him. He killed us in the playoffs last year, and we were able to slow him down tonight.
3) We need to work on getting to the line. The Hornets was in foul-trouble early in the 4th quarter. With a lead, the Spurs could of easily sealed the game if they continued to attack the rim. This is when George Hill would be a major asset. However, Manu, Parker, and Duncan should have done that tonight.
4) It was good to see Coach Pop play Bonner despite his cold shooting. This will give him great confidence later in the season. Morever, this will prevent Bonner from measuring his play just from his shooting. He play good help defense today, and I have confident he will go off tomorrow against the Magic.
5) Chris Paul is a f*cking bitch. I absolutely hate his antics. He caught pissed for nothing when Bonner accidently hit him. Even Duncan had to settle him down. I wished Bonner didn't go over and apologize. I would rather him go KG on him. Jeeezz...Also, to put me over the top, he knocked out the ball out of Mason's and at the end of the game. What a bitch!
P.S. Again...people need to chill with Bonner. EVERYONE have off nights. Trust me. This will be a HUGE confidence builder for Bonner. I bet that in 8 out of 10 games in the rest of the season that you'll see the Bonner of the previous few games. If Pop would bench him in tonights game for bad shooting, Bonner will ultimately lapse into his timid play.

Well it was an ugly loss, but fuck it, I mean they were up 79-72 and couldnt close the deal, oh well. Thats what happens when u start off 0-9 from 3 in the 4th, Bonner goes 1-8 from 3, the refs suck off Paul on the jump ball, and JUST to make sure we lose, call Mason for out of bounds during the final seconds, cant let the Spurs win on nat'l tv right? NO! OF COURSE NOT! GASP! lol. Seriously though, this game was encouraging because it seems to me the Hornets arent as great as people make them out to be. They blew us out in 2 or 3 out of 4 games last year in the regular season, and this game we were 5-6 mins away from a W. No worries, just another test game for Pop and the Spurs, especially with sticking with Bonner when he should have gone with KT, and sticking with Finley when he should have gone with Mason or Hill. Hill looked like he bothered Paul with his length a bit. Spurs will bounce back, they always will, we dont celebrate December ships like Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, oh the list goes on.

In the big picture this game probably doesn't mean much, but this was a very very bad loss for the Spurs.
9 point lead in 4th quarter against a team coming off a Tuesday game, without its 3rd option? need to clinch that. Instead, the Spurs reverted back to something they displayed many times last year, an offensive drought.
It's kinda odd to me that a team with Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili doesn't get to the line often and doesn't get many points in the paint, but that's what the Spurs don't do often... they are overreliant on the 3-PT shot.

In all my years as an NBA fan, I've never seen a worse jump ball than the one that referee HANDED TO CHRIS PAUL there at the end.

I don't know if Paul is Selfish but 11-13 assist is not an indication that he is not. IMO it just means:
- That he is a great passer
- That all the systems played by the Hornets are built around him.
I believe Paul dominate the ball too much just like some scorer shoot to much.
I don't think it is a good sign when nobody but your PG can have an assist.
