Sorry if this topic has been addressed often or recently already but....

What are the Spurs' intentions with Javtokas? Has the door been closed on him or do the Spurs still have plans to finally bring him over once and for all? And if so, when?

Thanks, in advance, for any insight/details.

I forget who Javtokas is, can someone remind me please.

Is he that guy from the Lithuania team that hits 3's with his eyes closed?

spurs have not talked about him latley but it is the middle of the season and it was not like they would have brought him in at the trading deadline either

Robertas Javtokas

The Spurs drafted 6-foot-10 forward Robertas Javtokas with the 56th pick in the 2001 NBA draft. After a horrific motorcycle accident that nearly ended his basketball career in May 2002, Javtokas has worked his way back onto the court.

Last season, he made a miraculous return to Lietuvos Rytas where he averaged 11.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest and was named to the All-Lithuanian league first team.

Lately, I haven't heard much about the Spurs level of interest of bringing him over. But I'm sure they are still considering it along with the rest of the guys that they have overseas.

i too have to question his potential to play in the NBA if he only averaged 12 and 6 in Lithuania

but everything i have heard about him is that he is an extreamly athletic big man with a lot of energy. It would be nice to see him come to spring training to work out with the team, evalutate hi progress, and find out how his back is holding up. I have no doubt tha RC will ask him to visit this summer, but i don't see him in a spurs uniform until the 2006-2007.

Project! Way down the list of potential Spurs at this point. Especially since his accident.

Not necessarily. The accident didn't help him, but he had a decent showing in the Olympics and he got lots of floor time on a team that only lost twice in the LKL this fall/winter.

He's about to turn 25 (as is Luis Scola), so the clock is definitely ticking.

Thanks for the replies.

I think the player we all ought to look out for is that georgian player we traded atlanta for this year, in 3 or 4 years he will be in a spurs uniform.

I just looked both of these guys up on their DOB. Sanikidze is actually 18, not turning 19 for another month (4/01/1986). Javtokas will be 25 next month (3/20/1980).

So did the injury seriously change the way Jav plays?

If Sanikidze is 18 right now, I am going to go on record that by the time he is 22 he will be a significant player on our team.

He can't jump as well. He used to be able to head-butt the rim (expression).

Thats too bad.

Maybe his rights could be worth something?

I mean, IMO, what the hell, bring him over and bring him in Massenburg's role.

Scola replaces Horry

Javtokas replaces Massenburg.

Sounds good to me.

Hey numbnuts, he was not overrated, he was not a star on Maryland's team, he was a great shooter, but he was never projected to go to the NBA. He is a damn good player(did you even watch the Olympics???). but I never said he was going to star in the NBA, so just STFU.

Sweet 16 last two years...so not garbage. This year, they have basically sucked except against Duke, but they still beat your Cavs. :smokin
