It's amazing to see these basketball commentators slowly but surely jumping on the Spurs bandwagon. Point of reference: I'm watching The TNT Postgame show with Charles, Kenny, and Ernie Johnson...And they are reviewing the mistakes of the defensive breakdown of Phoenix. Of course Charles goes on this rant about how Phoenix will never win any significant games because they have too many mental breakdowns.

Any way after he finishes. Ernie Johnson sites what he indicates as a key statistic for the ball game. I'm paraphrasing but he says "this is a key statistic, I mean this is Vintage San Antonio. San Antonio leads the league in turnovers with 12.5 a game." Then he asks out loud, "Do you know how many turnovers San Antonio had today? Charles is silent...Then Kenny says simultaneously with Ernie "6"! Then Ernie looks at Charles and says "that is an impressive stat!" Then Ernie and Kenny fist bump that fact with a smile.

Charles acknowledges this fact and goes on to say that the key statistics to look at when determining who the "Championship" caliber teams are would be: Turnovers, rebounding, and defense. But, I got the impression that these guys are quietly rooting for San Antonio as they promote LA and Boston.

What exactly are they saying about the Spurs? Are they saying that this team has the statistical data to be placed in the championship conversation in spite of their record? I say that because "Vintage San Antonio" is a sign of respect which indicates that this organization's consistency is a known quality. But at the same we are once again faced with a syndrome where we are consistently getting back handed compliments but not being endorsed as formal contenders. The Spurs, the one team nobody likes to talk about but the one team all are afraid to play against. "Vintage San Antonio!"

Anyway... I think the TNT crew make their own agenda. They're not being coached to hype up Boston-LA; I think they genuinely were looking forward to seeing that game. They've always given the Spurs their due respect ("Ginobili!") so I don't see it as bandwagoning or secretly rooting for anyone. They usually call it like they see it.

I just don't like it when Magic comes on the show because he is a total Laker homer, of course it is understandable.

It was a key stat, however, when you combine the lowest turnover team with a team that is one of the lowest at creating turnovers (PHX 28th), you will likely see a low TO game.

why does the media bother Spurs fan so much?????

Because out of the awesome games yesterday...

Celtics LA Hornets Orlando PHX Spurs

All the above teams got nice highlights for the previews and the Spurs were NO WHERE. Or when they finally do show them it's just a foul highlight LOL

Or when I watch Sportscenter to catch up on games I missed, never miss Spurs games, I have to wait until the very end for them to finally include Spurs replays. It's ridiculous.

The Spurs get plenty of respect. They were on a Christmas Day game at 1:30 PM Central (2:30 PM Eastern) after most of the nation had already had their Christmas morning experiences.

The game was on ABC in game 1 of a much-advertised double-header on ABC. The most important plays of the Spurs/Suns game were down the stretch, after the 4 PM start time of the Lakers-Celtics (Finals) rematch with a 19-game streak on the line. So everyone just turning on the TV for the rematch got to see the final 4 minutes or so and Mason's dagger three. Maximum exposure.

why does the media bother Spurs fan so much?????

Because they do not broadcast enough games nationaly?
National televised = good chance to see it in good quality for foreign fans.
Otherwise, I can't care less about what they think of my team...

What I think is that Spurs put SA on the map. If something is said negatively about the Spurs, than maybe it puts a very neg light on SA as a city since it's our only pro team.

Wow. You really have nothing to do with your sad pathetic life then to come on a Spurs board and spew your ignorant, immature, and childish hate. Instead of wasting your energy here how about spending your time trying to figure out why the Suns choke in the playoffs.

Still not over that 07 shyt are you? Your idiot players knew the rule, left the bench to try and fight someone, so they were suspended. Check the Heat and Knicks in the late 90's more were suspended for that, they should learn from that!!!!!!!!! It was what only 2-2 after the SUNS STOLE THAT game in SA, but when all back in game 6 SA kicked your fukkin azz!!!!! What about that one man? Did you see it? How was PHX guaranteed to win even with their boys? How were they bound to win? 2-2 is even, nothing more or less, hell the Suns in 03 tied it 2-2 for that matter and lost in 6. SONS are just the Spurs SONS, deal with it and love life!!!!!!!!

why do you guys bother acknowledging troll Suns fans? their franchise has been in the NBA for 41 years, and they have NO titles LOL..think about how pathetic that is for a moment..they have the same amount of titles as the Charlotte Bobcats, who have been in the NBA for 5 years..

I love it when a Suns fan comes onto our forum with a name like "Spork Killer" when the Suns have demonstrated time after time that they AREN'T able to handle the Spurs.

Like Nash said, "they got us again."

Maybe you better change your name to "Spurs' Punk"
