in two years time i see the following Spurs line-up
Tony Parker
Manu Ginobili
Devin Brown
Louis Scola
Tim Duncan
--------------------------------
Bench
Beno Udrih
Brent Barry
Bruce Bowen
Robertas Jovokotas
Rasho Nesterovich
Notice all but Rasho, Barry, and Bowen were drafted by the Spurs. I have the feeling that Jovokotas (I have been doing a lot of reading of him latel, and like what I see) Will be fully recovered soon and will be a very good energy man off the bench. I do not see the Spurs re-signing Nazr due to his heavy price-tag in the open market, any center who can rebound and score 10 a night is going to demand more than we would have the money to pay. That doesn't mean he won't be good here.
All in all doesn'tt hat speak wonders for the drafting prowess of our front office, because that looks like a championship team to me!!!

I like it, very quick team.

and dont forget Sandizkid, the guy we drafted (or the Hawks drafted and we traded for) in the second round this year, Solid D says he is only 18 and i think in about 4 years time when he is 22 he will be a player here also.

Beno will be traded for somebody better,Brown will go play someplace else for more money, the verdict is still on Scola and Jovok.Rasho will be a stater or no longer a SPURS IN 2 YEARS.

I think spurs trade rasho and keep Mohammed

02-26-2005, 12:52 PM
Spurs will resign Mohammed.
Add sanikidze into that lineup, and Linton Johnson, and your lineup looks pretty acurate.

Rasho is under contract and Beno will be here, he is a good point guard and a cheap one whom we will probably have for at least 5 or 6 seasons.
I bilieve Devin will play at least 7 seasons here as well.

Beno I doubt will be around at the end of his 4 years.
at the end of 4 years hell be so good, teams will clamor for him, Spurs though will get a good veteran point guard in return, and will just draft another good one.

I would like that team but I think it won't be that way because the starting lineup would be a little too small. I think if we keep Rasho instead of Nazr he would start and Scola would come off the bench. We just have to wait how the players develop. Scola hasn't play a minute in the NBA so I am not sure if he would be good enough to start in his 2nd year.

a 6-11 starting center (Tim is a center by the way he plays like it or not) and a 6-9 power forward small?

Yeah, if you add Devins 6'5, Manus 6'6, and Tonys 6'2 I would say its a pretty small lineup. I don't sy that they are not good. I just think it is too early to tell if Scola will start in his 2nd year.

well streaky, devin is a SF, manu is a SG, and tony is a PG; that is how tall they are suppose to be buddy

Devin is short for a small forward. I think the Spurs would like to get someone a little taller to be the starting small forward of the future.

Doesn't matter if they are small.
The Spurs can play small against Eastern conference teams, like the Sixers, Celtics, Hawks, etc.
No one is big in the east.

hell they won playing small against Phoenix and Dallas.

I don't know if Scola's D would ever put him in the starting lineup over Rasho.

As a PF why not, how bad could he be? Besides even if you make him guard a center, there aren't a lot of good centers in this league to begin with.

why not, how bad could he be?Quite bad, possibly. This is the Spurs we're talking about after all.

well i suppose we shall just wait and see, but I think that he will be a huge boost to this team, especially with all of his experience playing with Manu for so many years.

You got your opinion, I got mine. I don't want an arguement! I think we should concentrate on this year. Nobody knows what will happen in the future. Well see... :)

I think he could be quite good, but from what I know about Scola and the Spurs, I think he'll come off the bench.

Rasho will not be a Spur long term
he will get traded for someone, maybe for some powerade

no one wants Rasho. Think about it, they watch the same games we do, we aren't going to get Chris Mihm for Rasho Nesterovich.

I think it's a little bit early to predict that Scola and Javtokas will make a big difference. Scola is unproven NBA talent, and even he's a little undersized for a power forward. His game has been compared to Malik's by many - he does a lot of the little things and he should hustle. He probably won't be as good defensively as Rasho, so it's hard to see him starting over him for a coach that values D like Pop does.
As for Javtokas, he won't be 'fully recovered' in the sense that he will get all his hops back. He used to be an athetic freak, but it doesn't look like he's ever going to be the player he once was. He's been solid but unspectacular this season. I wish him the best, but it's still not anywhere near certain that he'll even play in the NBA.
I also agree that Devin will be gone. He's going to command some dollars and playing time eventually, and it's just hard to imagine in today's NBA that Pop would start Manu and Brown together. I simply can't imagine Devin defending some of the bigger, longer threes in the league. He may stay, but don't be shocked if he leaves for more money and a better opportunity to showcase his wares in the offseason.
We'll see what happens. With a core of Parker, Manu, Duncan, Rasho, Barry, and Beno locked up for a few years, things look good. The role players will find roles.

Devin will have to play SG to continue to progress. And that position is taken here for the foreseeable future. I don't think he will want to be a career backup without at least a shot at a team where he could win a starting job.

No way does Devin Brown ever start at SF for us for an extended time. Beno will get more money to go elsewhere. Devin Brown hopefully wont even be around....
PG-Parker, TBD
SG-Manu, Barry, maybe Sanikidaze (but I think he is 3 years away)
SF-TBD, Bowen
PF-Duncan, Scola
C-Mohammad, Nesterovic, maybe Javotkas (we'll probably deal him if we lock Nazr up)
