Whos your pick for the Rookie of the year through the first 30 plus games?
Rose, Mayo, Rudy?
Someone Else?

Mayo. He looks like a 10-year vet playing with Gay. Memphis is becoming a tough beat.

Mayo is amazing, but hes gonna get alot of playing time on a very bad team.
Mayo, definitely. he can flat out put ball in basket

AFter watching the Grizzlies take the Spurs to double-OT on last night, my vote goes to Mayo. I didn't realize how good this kid really is. Dude can flat-out ball.

Mayo is shooting 46% from the field and 41% from 3
would be nice to see him get more assist but still impressive
at this point last year Durant was probably shooting about 35% from the field

OJ Mayo is the rookie of the year...in my opinion. This guy can flat-out play basketball and is a superstar in the making.

Anybody can make shots...well almost anybody. What's important is making shots under duress.
What's impressed me the most about him is he's willing and able to make the those clutch shots.
Mayo is the best rookie so far.

Given their record I'd say he hasn't made too many of them. Color me unimpressed.

Mayo gives them that chance to win. Like yesterday in SAS, he had a hell of a LONG 3 pointer in the final minutes.
I think the Grizz are improving ALOT and have a shot at a Playoff spot. They'll compete almost every night this year.
Oden I still think will be a very good NBA player but he's still learning the NBA game... Mayo looks like he's been in the NBA a few years. There's no question he's fighting for "The Man" role with Rudy Gay.

I don't think it's even close. It should be unanimous. This kid is a freakin' stud.
As to the point about his assists, aside from Gay, who the hell would he pass the ball to? The Grizz are low on talent.

Goran Dragic. S-T-U-D.
Steve Kerr said it himself, 2nd best PG in the draft.
Mayo impresses me. He's obviously very good offensively, but for a rookie, his defense has been quite good especially taking into account the load he carries on offense.
Greg Oden has as much right to be mentioned as Nathan Jawai.

Mayo but I'd bet if you put George Hill on the Grizzlies, he's be giving him a run for his money. It's all about minutes played.

Mayo's on a bad team in a weak conference in a "city" nobody's ever heard of.
But if Gordon and Okafor can share top billing, so can Rose and Mayo.

Mayo is really good but I don't think Rose is that far behind to be honest. He is a much better passer. Ofcourse he has a better cast around him right now, but I think Rose has a better feel for the game whereas Mayo simply is a better individual talent. I think they will both become perennial All Stars starting next year.
Beasly on the other hand is a bit of a dissapointment, but he will be fine. The Heat are still a bit of a mess in terms of personnel, but Beasly will be their starter at the 4 for a long time, and he'll make some All Star teams as well. He has quite a few good games.

And it should be mention that Rose or Mayo are not playing with a dominant player like DWade. Ben Gordon and Rudy Gay while good players are not at Rose or Mayo's level.

Gay has Lamar Odom written all over him, increadible physical talent who just doesn't have the heart and will to push himself to the next level.

Mayo or Rose. Oden isnt really a rookie. All that hype on TV while he was on the bench hasnt helped him out. Coming into this season and getting hurt right away. Now Im not gonna say he isnt a serious candidate because he might come around and play up to that hype later on this season. Heck Id take Marc Gasol over Oden.

Do you honestly think that any GM in the league would want Rose or Mayo before Oden? That's really all you need to know.

Yeah. Those guys are the best player on their team. Oden isn't even the best center on his team.

The only reason a GM would take Oden over those guys is because of his "upside," and the idea that he'll eventually become more than what he is now. I thought Oden was a sure thing, but now I'm not so sure. The Blazers will be extremely lucky if he becomes an Alonzo Mourning-quality player, and that's not a diss; Zo was an All-Star in his prime. Right now, Kendrick Freakin' Perkins is at least Oden's equal, if not better.
