TOP 10

(Last week’s rank in parentheses)

1. Cavaliers (2): OK, so they got some help from refs on Christmas night; they’re still unbeaten at home

2. Lakers (4): Every Angeleno believes they would have won 2008 title if Andrew Bynum had been healthy.

3. Celtics (1): There’s a blizzard in New England, and the defending champs aren’t feeling too hot themselves.

4. Magic (6): If you crush two of top three teams in the West, you have to move up the rankings.

5. Spurs (8): Does anyone remember gloom and doom talk that ensued after the 1-4 start? Thank Roger Mason Jr.

6. Hornets (5): Oh, no! CP3’s steals streak snapped in embarrassing loss to Magic; Has there ever been a more dubious record?

7. Rockets (4): Brent Barry’s back, nailing big 3s, but they rise and fall with T-Mac, who was inactive Saturday.

8. Nuggets (9): Any doubt Chauncey Billups is their MVP? They won two of three without injured Carmelo Anthony.

9. Hawks (11): Is Bibby-Johnson backcourt better than Rondo-Allen? A lot of Atlantans believe it is.

10. Heat (14): Oh, boy! More nastiness between Heat and Bulls, as Miami coach Erik Spoelstra calls a time out with 33 seconds left in 13-point win.
