He doesn't deserve an all star in this season

As far as I know, most of Chinese didn't vote for him in this ballot

How come his votes is more than Chris Paul's???

Look at his performances of this season, he sucks at everything

Why do you guys vote for him?

maybe the votes that were cast for Marbury are going to T-Mac. I didn't and won't vote, I think it should be player/coach selected.

My money says you're wrong. Want evidence?

- Yi is still 3rd in EC forwards - ahead of Bosh, Pierce, and Granger. A damn shame.

- Artest being 5th in forwards ahead of Gasol and Aldridge is wrong, but check out who else is in the top 10 - Battier (7) and Scola (10). Another damn shame.

- You already addressed T-Mac at 2 ahead of Paul but what about Alston (9) ahead of Roy and Billups?

http://dimemag.com/2008/12/dwight-howard-is-still-leading-all-star-voting/

There obviously is a strong Chinese influence in the voting - see Yi and the other Rockets. The Chinese market is going to make sure T-Mac is an All-Star.

In the past, it hasn't been massive online votes from China that have gotten Yao into the All-Star game. It has actually been paper votes in Houston (and other cities). I'm guessing that's the case again this year and many people voting for TMac on the same tickets. People always jump to the conclusion that it's the "millions of people in China voting online" but that wasn't the case.

In fact in 2004 (the year it was close between Yao and Shaq), Shaq beat Yao in the online vote and Yao made up for it in the paper vote and won.

Well, I watched the Rockets Vs Wizards game today .. on a popular streaming website... and that guy had 55 million viewers ....

I've watched Spurs games and they barely hit the 100 thousand viewers..... I chatted with other people and not even de la Hoya Pachiao fight had that many viewers......

I believe you..... but lets be real... Alston is a scrub and dude gets a lot of votes.... .

China has something to do with it.

I totally agree. It seems the Chinese Fans don't care about performances, they just vote vor their stars, respectively their stars' teams. Another reason to change the voting system.
Edit: Well, I don't say that it's all based on online voting, but maybe on paper ballots. Maybe due to the Chinese community in the US? Otherwise I don't know why Yi is getting so many votes and the other players of the Rockets besides Yao are placed that high (e.g. Scola, Battier, T-Mac).

Bingo. I never said online but obviously there is something about Houston that's getting it done and that wasn't the case before Yao got there.

Pointing to one year and saying the online vote wasn't it doesn't complete the story. Whether online or paper, its either Houston or the Chinese community, and considering where Yi is at in the East and that it wasn't that way for Houston before - its the Chinese community voting en masse.

Edit: Or what Sportsudi said.

Google recently released its list of most-searched items in China for 2008, and the only U.S. brand to crack the top 10 was "NBA," sitting in the No. 10 spot.
And if that wasn't proof enough of the league's popularity there, the All-Star balloting was further evidence.

New Jersey Nets forward Yi Jianlian was third in the voting for Eastern Conference forwards when the first returns were released on Thursday. Despite averaging a mediocre 11.1 points through his first 20 games, he was one spot ahead of Toronto's Chris Bosh, who started the last two All-Star games, and two spots above NBA finals MVP Paul Pierce.

The overwhelming Chinese fan vote has helped Yao Ming get elected to start every year of his career, even when Shaquille O'Neal was still the dominant center in the league when he played for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Pretty much.

You can't look at the numbers of the votes for Chinese and Rocket players and come to the conclusion everything is fine.

So what is it Kori? I never said online - but its obvious its a new Rocket voting block, that likely supports Yi as well, and that voting block is likely strong Chinese supporters. Whether its done by a click or paper is irrelevant.

I wasn't responding specifically to you. I was just making a statement to the people who think that the vote is coming from online in China. People here in these same types of threads that get posted here every year always say the same thing - that China shouldn't get to vote online.

Obviously it's Rockets supporters and Chinese contingent in the U.S. at the arenas. That was my point.

They both have 7 going into this year. So in all likelihood T-Mac will have sole possession of most all star births among players to never advance past the 1st round of the playoffs after this year. Good point though forgot about Grant.

It's rediculous that in a season in which both Amare and Melo are playing below expectations they are still far ahead of a Dirk, 3rd scorer in the NBA.

It's silly, uninformed voters in general that shouldn't get to vote.
