ginobili is NOT having an all-star year.

and that is why he is not going to make the all-star appearance.

Brandon Roy and Kobe Bryant both deserve to play at SG ahead of him. That's why.

Ginobili doesn't need to be an all-star to validate his career. He's won on every level. He's done alot more than any of the "all-stars" who will be playing in this upcoming game.

well i think he had all-star numbers last year. unfortunately for him, the West was stacked with talents.

he definitely deserved 05. 06 and 07 were Tony's years.

i think he should have had 2 all-star appearances.

I take reading is not fundamental around here, the question has nothing to do with why here's not on the ALL STAR TEAM THIS SEASON, but why he only has 1 appearance. If you boys would stop trying to be sarcastic like females and READ for UNDERSTANDING you woul gather that. Though, I guess that's why I chose boys so carry on.

The OP question was answered in a very straight-forward manner. The answer to the question "Why?" is "bald spot". That's as good a reason as any.

Ginobili's first All Star appearance was in the 2005 season.
His averages for that season: 16.0 ppg 4.4 rpg 3.9 apg 1.6spg 0.4bpg. 47.1 field goal percentage and 37.6% 3 pointers made.

His first two seasons are not even second best player on a team stats.
His stats went down in the 2006 season.
In 2007, he is still not playing as well as 2005.
Reasons: Parker's emergence.

In 2008, He averaged career high in points and all, but Brandon Roy and Kobe Bryant are better players.

This is why he only has one all star appearance.

Gino, should have made it last year, he was around 20 a game, but the nba picked roy instead, roy is a great player, but last year gino should have been picked over him, but i think the nba was trying to grow their presence in port and getting people excited about that team.

Roy and Billups are getting screwed royally. The All-Star system is a joke. Players on the Rockets not named Yao Ming need to be automatically disqualified.

galvatron3000
12-29-2008, 11:45 PM
The league is too scared to change the system because it wants fans (global) to watch and support the event because it generates money. Money rules so that's they way it goes. I think fans should only get a 40 - 50% vote effect and coaches and GM's should handle the rest. But it's only the starters so out of 10 guys most of the time they screw up about 4 or 5 starters, give or take.

Because he doesn't play with a Wang, Chang, Chong, Ching, Ming, Jian, or Lian. If he changed his name to Wang Ching Ming Chang Liang Jian Lian he would have made every all star game since his rookie year.

manu has only one all star selection because he deserved only one if you look at the ASG of each year.

even last year, when the ASG selections were announced, there were better players. then he had incredible games. if the vote was at the end of the RS last year, there is no doubt he would have been in the ASG. He was voted in the third NBA team at the end of the RS.

but he always had a bad timing for the ASG. even the years where his overall level was high enough to be an all star, he just seemed to peak after the ASG.

not a big deal since he doesn't care obviously.

List of Spurs who have made an All NBA team

Ice - A bunch of times*
DRob - A bunch of times*
TD - A bunch of times*
Alvin - 1985-1986
Worm - 1994-1995
Manu - 2007-2008

The ASG is a much less exclusive honor. When Ice and Alvin were selected, there were only 10 players on the All NBA teams. It was eventually expanded to three teams, and 15 players, but that's still less than two full All Star rosters of players.

* HOF, or a sure lock.

Brandon Roy still needs to acomplish a lot of stuff to be called a better player than Manu and pretty much every BB specialist last year acknoledge that his prescence in last year's all-star over Manu was a disgrace.

Uh because he isn't.

Bullshit.

Ginobili is one of the best shooting guards in the league.

Most people don't realize it because Ginobili always plays limited minutes through the regular season (a wise choice on Pop's part), and plays on a team with two other premier scorers.

His numbers often don't look like those of an star because he doesn't play as many minutes, and doesn't have to carry the same scoring load that most other stars of comparable talent must carry.

On a lesser team, Ginobili would be a 23 PPG / 6 assist / 6 rebound-per-game player. Sir Charles has made this point many times, and for once, I agree with him.

ASG is a joke now anyway, it aint serious like it use to be during the 90s, now its all about marketing the players and game, heck even the players arent even serious about it, they just come out strut there thing, sell the game thats about it.

Hence there are some worthy players who missed out every year and then there are players who shouldnt even be in the ASG.
