View Full Version : For all those bagging on Tim for not dunking last night...

you obviously have not played a lot of competitive basketball. When you're going to the rim like that and on one end you're arm is grabbed and on the other you've got a pretty big guy (Jefferson) standing between you and the basket, then dunking the ball is going to be pretty damn hard. Especially when you're like Tim and have a ridiculously lousy vertical. Kind of unrealistic.
Honestly, if anything he should have taken a jumper. He had just hit one a minute earlier and anything would have been better than that awkward layup attempt.
Tim didn't play soft tonight, just stupid which is rare for him. Against a guy like Bogut he needed to pull his finesse moves and mix it up down low which he did not. I will agree though that Tim's rebounding this season has been the worst it's ever been and that's because he's not getting up. I know Tim normally doesn't dunk all over the place, but this season his hands have barely sniffed the rim. Tim still has the same great timing for rebounds, but he's getting outjumped and outworked by the other team's bigs.

michael jordan did that on space jam man, he had 5 guys holding onto him and he dunked it at half court....
If he pulled up for a 15 foot jumper, there will be 21 million threads crapping on him for not taking it to the paint. Happy new year!

He should have baby hooked it with his right while having 5 guys hanging onto his left, then nobody would haved complained. :toast

Tim is 6'11"...he doesn't need an outstanding vertical to dunk. All night long he went to the basket looking for contact instead of looking to score...same thing on the last play.
He should have dunked it.

I think the Spurs should have done what they did in Phoenix.

It was a weak attempt, but that's the way his night went. I said that Manu was going to make the game-winning shot, but maybe Timmy is following Tony's lead. :stirpot:

Tim is soft, he is biuld soft, he plays soft. How do gain NO muscle in 12years? He doesnt want to get stronger, looks like he never works out and is been overpowered on a nightly basis!
What are you like 6 years old? Seriously that is just stupid. I would say no offense but then I would be lying. :downspin:

Not only do I think he should have dunked, I think he should have deliberately taken an extra step to make sure he got to the rim. If the refs were too scared to call the foul, I doubt they would have called the walk.

You dont know much about BBall do you? Bogut is a soft big, and he destroyed TD last night, Tim is pushed off the block by Chandler form NO easily and Chandler is like 220lb! Tim goes to the foor every other time hes in the post, he gets his shit blocked by smaller players, and is not a strong finisher!
A big who has been in the NBA should put on some good mass, which would help him finish and keep his spot on the block, instead he wants to face up and go away from contanct.
Im a big spurs fan but face it HOMER, Tims lack of desire to be the best he can be is comming back to haunt him. Look at most PF an C in the NBA,look how they are biult. Then look at Tim......Look at Bynum from LA.....just how much mass he has put on in a couple years cause he works out hard. Tim has no idea where the weight room is and hes getting bitch slapped now. Dont blame me HOMER just watch the tape!
Who cares if they work out and are built? That doesn't mean they will win championships like Duncan has. Duncan has been an amazing player.. he may not be as built like players like dwight howard but look what duncan has accomplished. I think he is fine the way he is just like most spurs fans.

@Texas 2 Step
Because we all know Bynum and Chandler are considered the best PF to ever play the game...
Duncan has defended and blocked guys like Shaq, Nene, Boozer, Wallace... but hey, I never played professional basketball, so what do I know right?
What I do know is that Timmy should have dunked that sucker, and you can STFU already.

I agree with you on everything you said. I would just like to add to it and say a lot of people are dumbasses when it comes to weight lifting and basketball. Basketball is not a sport where you try to build your body like iron man. In most cases if you are too damn strong it fucks up your mobility. If Tim put on 20-30 pounds of muscle are tries to shape is body like someone like Dwight or even Bynum he would be a lot slower player out there it would be equivalent of how MJ lost his mobility when he first cam back from baseball. Tim is fine the way he is .
All that is lacking from Tim at time is his intensity and drive and I think that is due to winning 4 titles that its just hard to have that hunger for 82 games when you already won the title 4 times along with being acknowledge as the greatest player play at your position. Honestly I don't think we will ever see Tim have the type of drive he had when the spurs won the last few titles for 82 games because I felt at those times Tim was playing for his legacy and now with it being established there isn't much to play for other then the love of the game. One thing I'm sure is come playoff time he will raise up the intensity several notches.

When tim is the anchor taking the spurs to another title the ungrateful whiners will be at their knees kissing his feet thanking the lucky stars how lucky san antonio has been to have him all these years.
