There's an upset brewing in the East, it won't be Cavs/Celtics. It might even be Miami.

And for the first time in years, one of the Texas teams will be out in the cold.

I don't know why everyone is choosing LeBron as the MVP. Looking at the marquee players for the six best records in the league, or of the top three records in each conference:

(BOS) Kevin Garnett - 429 shot attempts 16.7 ppg - 13.40 shot attempts a game
(CLE) LeBron James - 600 shot attempts 27.8 ppg - 19.35 shot attempts a game
(ORL) Rashard Lewis - 490 shot attempts 19.7 ppg - 15.31 shot attempts a game
(SAS) Tim Duncan - 493 shot attempts 20.7 ppg - 15.9 shot attempts a game
(LAL) Kobe Bryant - 605 shot attempts 26.3 ppg - 20.16 shot attempts a game
(NOH) Chris Paul - 374 shot attempts 19.9 ppg - 13.35 shot attempts a game

Yes, LeBron has a pretty high scoring average, but anyone who takes as many shots as he does per game (19.35) is bound to score a lot. It doesn't make them an MVP. All this means is that he doesn't share the ball. Should a top player in a team sport really be shooting the ball 19 times PER GAME? Or how about sharing the ball and getting your team involved? LeBron and Kobe are clearly ballhogs and don't have any confidence in the rest of their team. But when your next best players are Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Mo Williams, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas, I guess I can understand why they need to take the majority of their teams shots and scoring.

Give Tim Duncan, KG, Rashard Lewis, or Chris Paul 19 shots a game and they probably score 27.8 ppg as well. Put me out on the court and give me 19 shots a game I'll probably average 30 ppg. Does it make them the MVP? Maybe, but only if they got their team involved. The fact that Cleveland doesn't have at least a 2nd legitimate All-Star caliber player says a lot about LeBallhog's worth on the floor.

Yeah it seems so far that way, but I hope people are being subjective with their picks.

You do know how to figure out basic math, right?

If you extrapolate the numbers to 19 shots a game, here's what they'd average:

23.7 ppg - KG
24.4 ppg - Rashard
24.7 ppg - Tim

Chris Paul is the only one who would score (slightly) more than LeBron.

I think Atlanta is a darkhorse candidate to knock off 1 of the top teams in the East. Orlando says no one is giving them any chance but whatver about the Hawks. They are the 4th seed and still have a chance to catch up to the Magic for the division.

Ok, George Hill 4 ROY is a little bit of a homer pick. Popovich deserves coach of the year but that award has lost its meaning so he won't get it.

Regular Season MVP - Lebron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
He has looked effortless this season.
Rookie of the Year - OJ Mayo, Memphis Grizzlies
He looks like an old pro right now.
Sixth Man of the Year - Allen Iverson, Detroit Pistons
I'm convinced he'll start coming off the bench soon.
Coach of the Year - Doc Rivers, Boston Celtics
The 2-time winner will get all the credit this season.
Champion - Cleveland Cavaliers defeat Los Angeles Lakers, 4-2
The much anticipated event finally happens. Ratings, By the way, are through the roof. It becomes the event of the 2009 sports year. ESPY's for Lebron, Kobe, the Celtics, the Lakers, and the Cavaliers.

The true Finals will be Cleveland and Boston in a seven-game classic. Lebron assumes his throne. Sports Illustrated has difficulty keeping magazines on the newstand. Boston losing in Beantown, Lebron knocking off the Defending Champions (with 70-wins), Kobe versus Lebron, passing the torch, MJ and Magic in '91 comparisons...the stories are boundless. It's an instant classic.

Meanwhile, for Lakers fans, Kobe ties Shaq in total Finals Appearances before he needs Andrew Bynum to carry him. The mystical aura around these games lends as much to Kobe as it does to Lebron. These will be Bryant's defining moments, and he rarely fails in them. Capable of beating Cleveland, the Lakers put up a mighty fight.
