View Full Version : Can we bring Chuck or Rodman out of retirement?

either of them has to rebound better than the clowns we have now. I am so sick of our lack of rebounding. It definitely cost us in the Milwaukee game. It will destroy us in the playoffs.

Is there anyone that we can sign or trade for who will give us some positive glasswork?

I know I want Courtney Sims from the DLeague, but that wont be happening.

Why not bring out David Robinson from retirement? Our lack of rebounding is just the consequence of Bonner who has never even tried to grab a rebound. It seems that the white players are generally reluctant to grab rebounds. I am not meaning all of them are poor at rebounding as Scola and some other white players are also pretty aggresive on that front. I'm sure our rebounding work would be greatly developed if our starting center was not bonner but KT.

Has the creator of this thread seen Chuck lately? I don't think he could leave the ground when he tries to jump.

even though he is tippin the scales at 400 lbs, I am sure if we put a krispy kreme above the rim, he would be tenacious at crashing the glass.

No I don't.

The rebounding is not as big a problem as you think it is either.

The Spurs are the best defensive rebounding team in the league IIRC, and one of the best defensive rebounding teams the league has seen.

stats per ESPN.com

Offensive rebounding % = 30 (.209)
Defensive rebounding % = 1 (.780)
Total = tied for 14 (.497)

Own offensive rebounds = 30 (8.4)
Opp offensive rebounds = 1 (9.0)

Own defensive rebounds = 7 (32.4)
Opp defensive rebounds = 25 (31.8)

Own total rebounds = 24 (40.4)
Opp total rebounds = 11 (40.8)

Differential = -0.4

So yes, I feel we need to do a better job of rebounding, especially in crunch time or when we force the opponent into a poor shot to beat the shot clock. Second chance points have killed us in several of our losses this year.

I know based on Pop's system that we will not ever be a great offensive rebounding team, since we shot and run back to play defense. However, I do feel that we should be a better defensive rebounding team. IMO, we should be in the top 3. We should be averaging close to 40 defensive rebounds a game.

If we could secure more defensive rebounds, it would definitly help our defense. We would give up less points, thus taking away extra stress and strain on our defense.

Uh does it not say defensive rebounding % 1.

Isn't it hard to improve on first....

This is stupid. Biedrins, Murphy, Lee, Bogut are in the top 10 in rebounding.

If we could secure more defensive rebounds, it would definitly help our defense. That may be so but the Spurs are currently rebounding the ball defensively better than any team in history. The only reason their total number is low is because they play at a slow pace.

Grabbing 78% of available rebounds on the defensive end is insanely good.

Matt Bonner is better for your team's rebounding than David Robinson was.

I dont know Id have to say considering the bigs we have. Our rebounding should be worse. As for 2nd chance points thats been happening for a couple of seasons already. I will agree that, rebounding like last season is gonna hurt us in the post season. But Ill guarantee you this team wouldnt rebound better with the Drunk, the Rifleman or Rodman on the court. Someone would have to be ready to give them mouth to mouth. You gonna volunteer?
