Meet Cami, our new puppy. We adopted her from the New Braunfels Animal Shelter today. She is a lab mix and is about 8 months old. She is such a sweet doggy.

Labs are so damn annoyingly hyper, my cousin has like 3 of them they are a handful. If you do not train them properly they will be in command of your house and they like to get into/chew everything.

What a day for you. You wake up with tragedy in your front yard and end it with a puppy.

Yeah they are, but after they are about 4 years old they start to calm down and are the most awesome companions ever. This is the third one I've had. The other 2 have been in puppy heaven for a long time. Right now our other dog is a beautiful 12yr old german shepherd and we wanted to get a new friend for her since we had to put down her sister a couple of years ago.

I had already made plans to go look for a dog today and after everything that happened I thought it would take my mind off the other thing. I really needed the distraction.

Nice pup. I love the Lab/Golden Retriever personalities. We didn't call our Golden hyper, we said he had puppy brains. For all of his 12 years.

Hope Cami brings lots of love to your house.

Very cute - she looks a whole lot like Yogi (our chocolate lab).

As for calming down when they hit four years old, someone needs to notify Deuce :lol our black lab.

What a cute dog! Congrats on the new addition, and thanks for going to the rescue!
I just rescued a kitty myself.

As for the "calming down" part... :lol My parents have a golden/lab mix who is 7, and she still acts like a puppy....HYPER!

Have fun!

my parents have a lab and when i go home its amazing how damn hyper that thing still is. you give her the least bit of attention and she's all hyper all over again. she's about 4 and every year someone tells my parents, oh when she's x years she'll calm down. good dog, just a little hyper. but as youve already said you have experience. good luck!!

good looking dog though. congrats!

+1 two of my cousins dogs are about 6 and someone did not pass them that memo. One is slowed down a bit only because he tore up his hip while running and playing in the backyard which is also a fairly common event with labs.

Nice looking dog. I love labs but they are high energy.
That's awesome you got her from a shelter!

I just got a new dog as well, lab/pit mix. 2 years old and pretty calm.

Found my pup on the side of 281 south of George West where he had apparently been dumped, as there were no houses anywhere near where a little guy like this could have run away from...

He's now approximately 8 months old, and the vet and I both think he's a Chow/Golden mix.
