People only look at the box score and assume Miller was all on him. Many of Miller's points were Duncan's fault.

Spurs fans need to learn to be happy when the Spurs win on the second night of a back to back. They got lazy and tired in the middle of the game, and pulled out a victory. As duncan228 said in the other thread, ugly wins are better than pretty losses.

He played really well against the Spurs last season in Philly. I believe he had 30 or 31 points in that game. I've seen him play over the years.

He has a big body for a point guard and is deceptively quick. Also, he can hit the midrange jumper and once he gets it going...he can be a difficult cover for anyone.

http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112364&page=3

My bad for reading your post wrong. But seriously, your point doesn't hold up to the facts.

Against Parker, the opposing point guards average 15.2 points per 48 minutes. That's not only a good mark, it's the best in the NBA for a starting point guard.

Points Against Per 48 Minutes
Parker, Spurs - 15.2
Chalmers, Heat - 15.5
Blake, Blazers - 16.1
Felton, Bobcats - 16.2
Rose, Bulls - 16.8
Davis, Clippers - 16.9
Billups, Nuggets - 17.6
Alston, Rockets - 17.7
Watson, Warriors - 18.3
Ford, Pacers - 18.3
Udrih, Kings - 18.7
Calderon, Raptors - 18.7
Bibby, Hawks - 18.8
Conley, Memphis - 18.9
Miller, 76ers - 19
Rondo, Celtics - 19.1
Harris, Nets - 19.3
Fisher, Lakers - 19.4
Paul, Hornets - 19.8
Nash, Suns - 19.9
Williams, Jazz - 19.9
Kidd, Mavs - 20.6
Nelson, Magic - 20.7
Williams, Cavs - 20.8
Ridnour, Bucks - 21
Foye, T'Wolves - 21
Duhon, Knicks - 21.2
Dixon, Wizards - 21.2
Watson, Thunder - 21.5
Stuckey, Pistons - 26.7

You can call me a Parker homer if you want for pointing out that your assumption is incorrect, however there are the numbers you asked for. Parker is far from a perfect player but to call him out for the player he guards scoring too much doesn't jive with reality when he's in fact the best in the league in the category you say he is weak in.

Parker and Miller Career Head-to-Head

Parker
32.8 minutes
15.5 points
5.6 assists
49.2% shooting
13 wins

Miller
34.7 minutes
13.3 points
5.2 assists
40.6%
7 wins

Miller usually either plays really well or really bad against Parker and the Spurs. But the stats don't hold up to the contention that Miller somehow owns Parker.

Spurs fans need to learn to be happy when the Spurs win on the second night of a back to back. They got lazy and tired in the middle of the game, and pulled out a victory. As duncan228 said in the other thread, ugly wins are better than pretty losses.

Duncan's fault? Why is that, because of his bad help defense? Because he didn't cover near the basket on a drive?

I mean, i don't realy understand ur statement. The first line of defense is the guy who has the task to defend Miller. Man-to-man or zone defense, the guy who's on him has the task to contain him. So the main "fault" goes to that defender. Sure poor help defense won't help matters. But the help defense wouldn't be needed if Miller didn't slice through the offense that often.

The only way it was only "Duncan's fault", is if the Spurs played a 3-2 zone and Miller stood in the corner all night. Now, i didn't see the game but i presume that wasn't the case. As is said, i didn't watch the game, so you can correct me any time.

tim and maru are cold blooded when it comes to the final possessions and we're lucky that our three main players are winners but tony IS the most clutch, sorry to say it, the stats are clear:

http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2949890&postcount=20

before 06, tony was average in the PO, but since then, when it matters, he always delivers at the best %. this year, it's amazing of much he's clutch.

this year, in clutch times, manu shoots at 31.8 %, tim at 48.8 % and tony at 56 %.

That was without a doubt, the most amazing clutch shot by a player in a Spurs uniform I have seen in this entire season. Maybe even in a few years.

I've seen more clutch/fluke shots by us this year than in like the previous three years combined.

Wow, this thread is crazy.

Anybody who wants to rag on Tony needs to either hit the gym and show us how a completely perfect basketball player is supposed to play, or STFU and GTFO.

That was an absolutely incredible shot by Tony last night. That turn-around, step-back, fade-away rainbow is just another testament to how deadly Tony's shot has become, and how naturally he has learned to use it.

Yeah, it'd be great if they didn't cough up the League, but I saw that coming when they shot 8-9 from three-point land in the first. Percentages dictate that's bound to go down.

But the Spurs take a lot more crunch-time experience and chemistry from a buzzer-beater win like this than they do wiping the floor with the Sixers. Considering the season is nothing but 82 building blocks, I'd rather see the Spurs have to scrap if they can still pick up the W.

Ain't nothing gonna come easy in the playoffs, either.

I just think we are lucky to have 3 players who want the big shot at the end. And 3 players very capable of making the big shot at the end.

I can understand that Spur fans feel this win was alot harder than it should have been, but to still dwell over it is pathetic. They won. Move on.

are you including Mason as your third, because I have little confidence in Manu at this point.

That was without a doubt, the most amazing clutch shot by a player in a Spurs uniform I have seen in this entire season. Maybe even in a few years.

I've seen more clutch/fluke shots by us this year than in like the previous three years combined.

Parker is truly the shit. He never flinched, or hesitated, and hit nothing but net.

Anyone coming close to criticizing Parker after this game should be flogged.

Is it fair to say that Parker has developed a lack of Ruth?

Manu is still one of the most capable players in the NBA when it comes to hitting the big shot.

that Manu has yet to show up this year. Also, most of his closing skills comes from taking it to the basket and drawing fouls. Right now he can't finish and hangs out at the three point line.

No I meant Manu, but I see your point. And I also trust Mase at the end of the games for obvious reasons.

Duncan, Parker, Mason, Manu, Finley, Bowen.

In that order.

That's a hell of a lot of capable clutch time shooters for one team.

+1

Finley, even he played poorly sometimes, has always delivered big shots.

but the most underrated is Bruce. he almost always make his 3 from the corner in clutch times.

For those who want TP to be more of a passer.
Last 2 games :

- Vs the bucks : 19 and 10, Spurs lose
- Vs the sixers : 15 and 10, spurs hardly win.

I won't recall what is spurs record when TP scores 20+ points.

when tp scores more then 25 points they have 80% chance of winning
highest on team

Tony is a freaking all-star. Hard to believe he is behind Manu in the votes. Best PG in NBA is TP or Chris Paul.

Hard to believe Iverson's getting the starting guard spot in the East.

This thread is ridiculous, but expected.

Manu fucking choked a wide open shot and Tony bailed him out, but Spurs fans discount Tony's clutchness by calling it lucky and continue to give Manu a pass even though he is about as anti-clutch as Dirk these days.

I am really starting to hate Spurs fans on here.

That shot was as awesome as TD's in the 0.4 fatidic game against the LAL in 2004.

Clutch is not being scared to take a last second shot and/or leading your team to victory.
Manu has done that INUMERABLE times.

He misses a shot and all of a sudden hes not clutch??? :rolleyes

Manu has missed a hell of a lot more last second shots than he has made over the last 2 years. I'm afraid some of his clutchness is gone.

And just because you aren't afraid doesn't make you clutch, you have to make the fucking shot.

This is already Parker's 3rd or 4th game winning shot or assist to a game winning shot this season if I'm not mistaken.
