Blast you... beat me to it.

on the play -

The Spurs for the second straight posession with around a minute left and up by 4 throw another lazy pace that gets batted down and stolen. Dwayne Wade comes up with the lose ball heading for the basket. Time slows down.

In between him and the rim Tony Parker is back peddling.. on his face you see him deciding what to do.

His only option is to step up and take the charge.

Of course its not gonna work.
It's D-Wade driving he's gonna get the bucket and the damn call.
He'll make it.. and the Spurs lead will be done to 1. Shit.

But right at the last possible instant I see a flash of pale skin and hear the announcers voice suddenly get loud.

What the hell just happened.. Was that Bonner!?

--MANU WITH THE BLOCK!!--

No way.

Ohh hell yeah!
Heee's baack!

Manu coming out of nowhere for the aerial negation.

manu is looking more and more like his old self. i think another good month and he'll be back to the old manu for good :)

if mason, bonner, finley and hill can keep on scoring decently, i don't know if this manu isn't the best for the spurs. with a better FG % maybe, but not trying to force things and score too much.

he has been very active on defense, scored decently, rebounded well, some blocks, some steals, some assists, some clutch plays. i like this manu.

of course if no one outside tim and tony is able to score, and worse if even those two are cold, manu as a go to player for a stretch would be useful.

but right now, he's doing well even his shot is streaky and he could attack more the rim. he's getting back.

Sick. If Manu had made that play on Dirk in 2006, instead of fouling, the Spurs might have another ring. Tonight's play was probably Manu's most impressive block since he's been with the Spurs. He made some great blocks when he was younger, playing in Europe, but tonight's was...well....just sick.

T Park

Manu tonight looked more like the old manu to me for the first time in a long time.

his drives to the basket were agressive, he caught nice air on his jumps, the layups and block were vintage manu.

Hopefully he starts kicking it in gear, if he does and Hill keeps going, and Bonner keeps playing great, then this team is DAMN good.

Manu needs to work in getting the "eurostep" back, you know those two gigantic steps where everybody think he walks but he doesn't? since he started working in the midrange jumper he kinda lost that. Rember when he got to the Spurs he either get to the rim or shoot a 3, now he just shoot a 3 or a long 2.

Seems like he does that on every drive these days. Two giant steps --> left layup. It's very predictable.

I wish he'd stop (1) head faking beyond the arc and (2) taking too many 3's (what was he 0 for 5 tonight?)

Miami trailed 84-81 when Wade drove to the rim from the right wing, with Tony Parker getting in front to deter his progress a bit. Wade leaped for a layup -- but Ginobili, who isn't exactly known for high-flying exploits -- swatted it away, setting up a game-clinching jumper by Mason at the other end.

"Play of the game," Spoelstra said.

"He's an athletic guy and it was a great block," Wade said.

Great block.:tu (Too bad the first ESPNEWS highlight found a way to leave it out:bang)

It probably was his best block, in terms of time and score, but he's had a couple that were just as impressive. One that immediately comes to mind, was a couple years back on Kevin Martin. It looked like he decapitated the kid at first glance, but after further review, was just a clean/spectacular block.

Manu did the ol' Robert Horry trick of slowing up right after the steal so he could get out of Wade's peripheral vision and then exploding after Wade picked up the ball. That was vintage Horry.

He even used a teammate (Tony) to set-up Wade for the "shocker.":lol

Exactly.

During the live broadcast, there isn't much of an overhead angle so Manu isn't revealed till the last second. It was just a flash of white and then hollering.

I was confused and bewildered for a good 2 seconds, before what occured sunk in. It's like he jumped out of Tony's body.

The replays with the overhead view take a way somewhat from the WtfnS! aspect.

But the high-angle view makes Parker's D look better...shading Wade towards the help (Gino). Also makes the block look even more impressive (to me) - looks like Wade sees Ginobili and decides to go at Parker instead, but Ginobili STILL gets there somehow.

Now just imagine if the Spurs got a really good shotblocking big man to help Timmy in the middle.. a blocked shot is a real game turn-arounder (if there is such a term) more so than an interception or a steal IMO.. even Rasho had some shotblocking ability..

i believe the term is 'turnerer arounderer'. We've won championships with some weak Big Men, we just require someone with decent size to grab some f*cking boards for us already.

Or if Manu would have just let Dirk lay it up without going for the block . . .

The Suns without Amare and then the Heat.

Man ..............

Naah...nobody was gettin' by the Heat that year. Anyway, Spurs are 4-0 in Finals...soon to be 5-0. :lobt2:
