Just something I've been wondering about for, oh, the last seven years, and maybe some Lake Show or other fans have the answer:

Philadelphia and L.A. finished the 2000-01 season with identical 56-26 records, and the teams split their season series, the Sixers winning in Philly and the Lake Show winning in Los Angeles. So why did the Lake Show have HCA in the Finals?

I believe secondary tiebreaks are used, best conference record. Check your source.

The Lakers got home court due to the "better record against opposing conference" tiebreaker.

Basically the Lakers won more games against the East than the Sixers won against the West.
