DRob is the reason I'm a Spurs fan but fyi that's not his rookie card and it is virtually worthless.

Even his actual rookie card is worth very little. Once upon a time his rookie card was worth big bucks till ppl realized NBA Hoops flooded the market with them driving the price down....

the first game i went to was courtesy of mr. robinson's neighborhood. a loss to the suns, willie anderson missed a game winning layup. i even got to meet him after a jazz game (a win in the dome) as part of fellowship of christian athletes.

Any David Robinson fan should have that card by now. They made so many of those it is almost worthless. Even the real deal one with the jersey is not hard to come by.

But the memory remains.

Drob is the reason why I became a Spurs fan (discovered him during the 1992 summer, pre-olympic tournament in Portland)

Never looked back since

Yeah this is the 'official' DRob rookie card, even though the one you have says Rookie on it. Sadly, I doubt this card is worth more than $10 because it was so mass produced by "Hoops" whose packets were cheap to begin with. Supply and demand theory says that supply is very high, and the demand is very low. His rookie card value does no justice to the man.

If Drob is still playing, we'll be the team to beat (that is if his playing in his prime).

My oldest daughter's first word was Robinson. It was okay until every black person she saw was called robinson until about 3. :lmao

Then she finally met him in person this year 19 years later.. :lol Great picture. David Robinson is fuckin awesome man..

F*ck it. D-Rob is still a stud. Shop out for a big man? Nah! He should pull a P.J. Brown and tack on another half season for an additional ring. F'real, David created the character standard that the Spurs still represent. Classy-ass baller.

Right. The one you show pictured is the first of his two official rookie cards.

Here is the second:
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m206/acrowofhope/D-Rob.jpg

The one you have pictured was in the 89 Hoops first set, and this one is the second. Those are his only official rookie cards. Those two in my picture are mine, that I tried to give away through ST but I never got a response from the king and queen. May just do it by myself then.

The card he has on eBay isn't worth a dollar even, sadly enough. Like you said too much supply, almost no demand.

(sorry to continue on) that 89 Hoops card holding the jersey, the odds of finding one in mint condition are 1:1200. Hoops printing machine off-centered the card, so you will rarely ever find one centered. If you are clueless what that means, look at the card, the pink on both sides and the distance from the edge of the card... they are never centered. That rookie card books 12 dollars, however off-center is not mint, which makes it worth about 6 bucks. The other official rookie card (where he is shooting the FT) are centered and book for about 8 dollars.

So like I said, a lot of us have his first rookie card, but I bet you anything nobody has it centered in mint condition.

I got a chance to rub shoulders with Mr. Robinson a few years ago at a Rampage game (they were throwing a birthday party for his son). I was getting some food at the charter level when I noticed that the Arena staff had a Spurs road game on the lounge TVs, and planted on one of the couches was Mr. Robinson himself!!! Needless to say I was shocked as hell, but he was nice and he shook my hand!

Speaking of David Robinson, I'm closing the donations to the Carver Academy on Monday. So if anyone wants to contribute, please do so before then (or at least PM and tell me the check/Paypal is on the way). Details are in the thread stuck at the top of the forum.

I swear I must have like 15 David Robinson rookie of the year cards.

Kori, I really want to but Im in a really tight spot right now for about a month. I hope this comes about again next year. If I can find a way to work around what Im doing cash wise I will definately try before you close it out.

As far as this post goes, call me cynical but this dude probably just posted so he could peddle off his card on ebay. Its just the same as those jackasses that come here once in a while trying to sell some shoes or some other crap. I'd ban his ass.

I really need to go through my cards, I have 3 HUGE binders with mint condition fleet cards. I know for a fact I have Rodman cards from the pistons, bulls and Spurs. Im sure I have a few Larry Bird cards as well, not to mention Magic, Hakeem, Jordan and many others. I started collecting at the age of 5 and purchased cards everyday until about the age of 15.

I REALLY need to check those cards out, they are sitting in a sealed box in a closet, all of them in protective binder flaps in closed binders.

Just went and pulled out my collection and found a NBA Hoops David Robinson All-Star gold card from Feb 9-11, 1990 taking a shot over Barkley.

Still in mint condition.... SWEET!

Behind it was a Fleer Avery Johnson Golden State Warriors card from 1993-1994, lol!!!

Damn this shit brings up memories, Im just looking at this one sleeve and I got 4 Spud Webb cards, the Robinson all-star card, 3 Moses Malone Cards, a Dominique wilkins Card, the A.J Card from the Warriors, Maurice Cheeks and 2 Glenn Rivers cards.

And thats just on a loose sleeve that was sitting outside of my binders. :hat

I wasn't too much of an NBA fan growing up in Northern VA. Football, and the Redskins in particular, was my only sports passion. Then I met my wife. She had gone to high school with David Robinson (OP in Manassas, VA). Also, her cousin graduated from the Naval Academy in 1987 with DRob. She's even got pics of him from high school laying around somewhere. DRob is, was, and always will be THE MAN. He's the reason we're Spurs fans...and Spurs fans for life! :toast

David Robinson was a great player and without a doubt seems to be a real nice man. Spurs were lucky to have him.

i still regret his reaction to Nash (and some others players like NVE or Nowitzki) opposition to war in Iraq. He said that he should go in another country than usa if he was against the war.

If it's an embarrassment to them, maybe they should be in a different country, because this is America and we're supposed to be proud of the guys we elected and put in office
i'm definitely not arguing whether the war was a good or bad thing, and i understand and in a sense share his opinion about the war but the reaction from David was really manichean, excessive, close-minded and a little disappointing for me.

Still happy every time i see him on a video. reminds me how much a great player and nice person he was/is.

about the war he was saying its important to support your troops instead of bashing them...even if you were con the war or pro...just support your friends, citizens etc...

and he is from NAVY...so he may have the navy education and a lot of patriotism feelings...

Without saying to much as I'm sure so many have already said it.

Drob is the main reason why I fell in love with basketball. If I could make a time machine I would travel back in time just to see him play again.

He brought humility and poise to the game.
