no, simply because Mason is quickly becoming one of my favorite Spurs.

That's a tough one. But it is made easier by the fact that the Blazers wouldn't.

It's probably a good trade for the future, but the current Spurs want to win now, and adding more rooks and young guys and removing Mason and Hill, guys who know the system already, would probably hurt that. Any trade Pop gives the OK to will be a small one to save money, get a pick, or get a veteran that can help add just a little bit extra to what we already have, and not a blockbuster that changes everything (or at least a lot).

well, yes, of course, but the Blazers would never do it. They drafted Batoum ahead of Hill for a reason, why would they undo that? Also Fernandez is a really hot up and comer, why would they throw him in too?

well first, blazer small forward spot will be crowed once webster comes back, so they could move batum. Second, they are looking for a point guard, Hill would be nice. Mason is a better player than RUdy right now(although Rudy will be much better in the future).

Portland isn't looking for quick fixes -- the fact that Fernandez will be a better player than Mason (if he isn't already; I think he might be) is precisely the reason that such a deal has absolutely no chance of being made.
It's like thinking that the Spurs would have traded Manu in February 2003 to get a journeyman guard with a bit more experience and who might have been slightly better in that moment.

That's a freaking bench overhaul. I love some of the ingredients, but that's more of an offseason trade than an in-season trade. The mere integration of those players into the Spurs system would make such a multiple-player deal negligble. Plus, you shouldn't expect Kevin Pritichard (Blazers GM) to do the Spurs a solid.
I just wish they would do a straight swap of Vaughn and a 2nd round draft pick for Batum, but that's just me dreaming again.

I don't think that trade's feasible, but I'd love to somehow pry Frye away at not too great a cost. He's 25, but caught in a logjam at the big positions in Portland.

No way. Sure Portland has young talent, but the Spurs are well on their way to acquiring it. Besides who knows what can happen 2010. I say the Spurs stick and see what happens.

Only reason I dont like it is because we're not sending anyone who's gonna play after the season is over. And the Blazers are sending over guys will be playing after the season is over. And Im not talking the Post Season. Im talking Euro Games etc. Im pretty sure the Spurs have learned their lesson with Manu.

This would be a trade if we are building for the future. But I think Pop wants SPurs to win now.
