Why don't you guys mention the hundreds of drug related arrests on the UTSA campus at the beginning of the fall semester. Or about the meth lab they busted in the dorms a year ago.

Shooting victim identified as Texas State student

San Marcos Police are investigating the shooting death of a 21-year-old man Wednesday night, identified as Jon Ryan Paysse, of Tow, Texas.

Paysee died after being airlifted to Brackenridge Hospital after the shooting occurred at the University Heights II Apartments on East River Ridge Drive in San Marcos.

"At this point, we believe it was an accidental shooting," said Police Chief Howard Williams. "Once our investigation is concluded, we will refer the case to the Hays County District Attorney's office for presentation to a grand jury."

No charges have been filed or are anticipated, Williams said.

Police were called at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday to the University Heights Apartments. Paysse suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported by Air Evac to the hospital in Austin where he was pronounced dead.

Paysee was a junior at Texas State University-San Marcos. He was a graduate of Llano High School who had celebrated his birthday on Sunday.
