Robert Horry is at the Laker game watching, and just gave an interview durng second quarter. He said the Lakers were the best team in basketball right now. He even said they can play defense. he'll be back at halftime for another interview.

I wonder if he wants to come back wth the Lakers, Spurs, or no one this year?

Let's see another trash talking thread, that's what everyone seems to want, lol. Lakers 45- Miami 46

Robert Hoffman is at the Kings game. He said the Kings are a bad team and they don't play very good defense.

I wonder if he's going to buy tickets for another Kings game, Warriors game, or no other NBA game this season.

Ok, Horry back on with Riick Fox, Norm Nixon, and Joel Meyer.... Rick and Robert getting all cozy. He is ranking the top teams

#1 Lakers
#2 Celtics

They asked him about the Spurs:

He doesn't think the Spurs have it this year, no bench. He said he would be at the Laker Spur game this week. Commercial break!

Strange, I would say that we have the best bench we have had in a while.

Last question to Horry, assess the Laker defense...

"If Bynum and Gasol control the paint, Lakers win the championship".

Seems to me he might have said all this to either:

Get the Spurs to re-sign him
Get the Lakers to re-sign him
Get anyone to sign him!
Or, just burn bridges and state his mind.

Hey, it was live and is a current scoop. Let's see if he goes to San Antonio for the Laker game this week, part of his proclaimed "world tour". My guess is, the last chapter on Robert Horry hasn't been written.

Lamar Odom was just interviewed. He is going on the Texas road trip. Doesn't know if he will play yet, he has to practice first. He's talking about Practice! Must have said practice 4 times. Practice!

He says our depth is keeping us afloat. 73-65 Lakers.

Just my thought. By criticizing the Spurs bench, he either says make it better by adding me to it, or I'll support the enemy since you didn't bring me back.

Final score Lakers 108 Miami 105

Bynum 8-13 and 26 points, 6 rebounds.
Gasol 4-15 and 14 points, 18 rebounds.
Bryant 5-14 and 17 points, 7 assists.
Fisher 5-13 and 13 points, 11 assists. Derek on postgame said Lakers will win it all this season. Geez, we haven't even started the playoffs yet!

Wade 10-22 and 27 points 9 assists.
Beasely 10-16 and 23 points

calls were fair, there was a clear goaltend against a shot by Bynum near the end where the ref said ball was going up. Replay showed it clearly going down.

announcers mentioned this play and how the refs let them play in the end. another non-call like when first Barry traveled then Fisher fouled him in game 4 of last year's WCF.

Laker classic game from 1988 afterwards, Finals Game 7 versus Pistons. The game that finally got us our dynasty status in the 80's when we were the first team in 20 seasons to win a back to back championship.

Yeah that was a bad no call. IDK how the refs did not call Bryant for that one. But in the end it was that Bynum rebound that did them in. Why the Heat did not put in Magloire for rebounding is beyond me.

But you know if that was Kobe I would be hard press to see the refs swallow thier whistle if Kobe gets contact on a 3pt shot.

Then Wade should have taken the last shot. Announcers mentioned a new player won't get that call. Lakers led most of the way, it was our game to win all along.

Laker 55, he head butted him.

Ok, I just saw the replay. He did. However, as Wade commented just now on postgame, he passed the ball to Cook who missed a wide open 3 for the lead. The alternative is a foul is called, and Wade shoots two, which he has to make. Still time on the clock for a winning shot by the Lakers, or at worst, overtime. I like our chances either way. However, if you are going to select the calls that went the Lakers way, look at the ones that went the Miami way at the end. I noted one above, the non-goaltending call of Bynum's shot.

It all evens out, time to move on.

You cannot equate a goal tending call with a headbutt. Not the end of the world, but surprising there can be that much physical contact and no call at the end of games.

Sure you can equate them. Both influence the game and how it plays out. If a call isn't made and griped about by a fan in a forum thread, all calls come under scrutiny. What game is ever reffed perfectly? They miss plenty and do a decent job as it is. They missed what the replays showed. Also, it was more of a glancing head butt as Kobe reached for the ball, not a direct ram.

Change any call at any point in a game, and the rest of the game plays out entirely different than it actually did. I made a post explaining this in detail. I should have bookmarked it, or I can recreate it if you wish.

DPG21920
01-12-2009, 12:51 AM
No, I fully understand what you are saying. What I am saying, is that a goal tend is common. Headbutts are not. It was more than glancing, because it cut Kobe's eye open.

Find a video if you can. I saw the replay once. To me it looked like a glance. To me, you are more likely to cut your head open with a glance, much like an abrasion you get in any sliding motion. A direct hit gives you a big knot on your noggin. For now without a video, it was between a head butt and a glance. As I pointed out with the non-call, Miami had a chance to go ahead. And once again, if Bynum's shot is called correctly, the head butt/glance never happens because everything on the court changes. Totally undecided outcome, and we have two points more than otherwise.

Didn't he play the first half of his career with them?

Pretty much, and during their hibernation from glory. Then he retired when we traded him back to Boston in 2004. He's a Laker.

The reason why I like the Lakers to win the championship this year is because of their bench. Last year, and in years past the Spurs had solid veteran players coming off the bench. This year the Spurs bench players are young and dumb.

Couldn't he just feel like the Spurs don't have a bench from his perspective without breathing something else into it? Heck with Manu being the only true offensive threat he is probably right, Bowen is only coming in to play D, Hill is a rookie and Parker will garner the bulk of his minutes anyway, the frontline is too slow to the glass and no inside scoring options and we have no true small forward. We have a niche bench but if we can address the real problem, which is frontline help then the bench we have will be fine.

Horry Isn't Contemplating NBA Return

Jan 12, 2009 4:37 PM EST
Robert Horry claims that he is not contemplating a return to the NBA this season.

"I'm just hanging out with my family. That's all," said Horry, who attended the Lakers-Heat game on Sunday while in town for a charity event.
