Just heard mark stein say that he has been hearing that the Mavs are the team that are trying to hardest to make a trade right now. According to him they are trying to trade Jho very hard for an all star hopefully, and just looking to shake things up if anything. He said he expects the Mavs to make a trade very soon.

As much as I hate having to hear this, it's some of the best news involving the mavs lately. At this rate the team will not be anything this year. Guess Donnie doesn't love this team as much anymore.. Fucker

Diop for Felton would be a small step in the right direction.

Wouldn't that leave us thin at 5 unless Dirk plays there?

Diop hardly plays anyways. Horrible contract + shitty production for a quality player? Sounds good to me.

Howard/Barea for Mcgrady??

Not interested in bringing in a guy whose body is breaking down. The Mavs have a team option on Josh for 10-11, so he could be a very useful trading chip in 2010 if the Mavs keep him.

Oh hell no id rather give you those two for barea at least he may have some upside lol I hate kidd and he's on a fast downward spiral.

Kidd is still a very good player, and he's a huge upgrade over Blake. He'd be perfect for Portland this year, and his contract comes off the books. Since Miles is going to go back on your books, it would be well worth it to have Kidd for the playoff stretch run and then his $20 million comes off the books this summer.

Seriously, trading Josh Howard when he has such a low trade value makes no sense. I'd rather go down with the ship on that one, and hope he finally pulls his head out his ass. I can't picture them getting anyone more talented for him right now.

The point is to just get rid of him. I bet at this point they'd take someone's who 1/2 the player, but at least puts some effort every night.

The Mavs should stand firm on accepting offers for Josh Howard based on his 2006 trade value, because we all know he's pulling a Vince Carter routine. Plus, they have a team option to exercise in the summer of 2010, so his contract could come in handy then.

Let's say 2006 Josh Howard walked through that door, what would it get us? The ceiling would be a puncher's chance at a 4-6 seed and a series victory. Might as well keep him unless you get back a package based on his 06 trade value, because his value is going up in 2010 anyways.

Dirk + 2006 Howard got you all two wins from a title. Back in 06 Howard was arguably the second best SF in the league. Not sure why he got lazy on D, but the talent is there.

I don't know what's happened to him. Getting back the old Josh wouldn't get us back to those heights, but it sure would make us a lot better.

They're working on an Avery comeback, along with a 5 year extension for Stackhouse. I also hear a rumor that would bring Croshere back to the Mavs, in exchange for Terry...

Wallace is in Brown's doghouse. Best player on the team and a guy who always gives you 100% and Brown has a problem with him. 40 games into the season, that didn't take long.

Sources: Augustin's injury affects deal

The Charlotte Bobcats, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder put the pieces in place for a three-team trade late last week, but NBA front-office sources said Sunday that those talks have gone "dormant."

Sources told ESPN.com that the full deal, as originally constructed, would have sent Raymond Felton, Nazr Mohammed and Sean May from Charlotte to Dallas, landed Earl Watson and Dallas' DeSagana Diop with the Bobcats and shipped Jerry Stackhouse to the Thunder along with a future second-round pick.

The Boston Globe reported in its Sunday editions that a trade headlined by Felton and Watson was "in the works," but sources with knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com on Friday and again Sunday that the discussions have gone quiet.

"Dormant is a good word," one source said.

It was unclear Sunday night if the trade can still be resurrected or revised, but sources say one impediment is an injury suffered in Tuesday's victory over Boston by Bobcats rookie guard D.J. Augustin, which could suddenly make Charlotte reluctant to part with Felton. Augustin is expected to miss at least 10 days after he aggravated the abdominal injury in Saturday's victory over Washington.

If the trade can be revived, Watson would be moving to Charlotte as a veteran backup to Augustin, whose emergence has led many executives around the league to presume that Felton would be moved before the league's Feb. 19 trading deadline. Felton is playing on an expiring contract that pays him $4.1 million this season and will be a restricted free agent this summer.

The Bobcats, furthermore, have been to trying to add Diop to their front line as a defensive specialist since he was a free agent last summer. As ESPN.com reported in July, Charlotte offered Diop the same five-year deal worth more than $32 million that the 7-foot center wound up signing with the Mavericks.

Dallas has been shopping Stackhouse, Diop and Brandon Bass for weeks in hopes of acquiring a player of Felton's caliber. But if he winds up going to Dallas, Felton would have to fit into a rotation of lead guards which already features Jason Kidd, Jason Terry and J.J. Barea.

Mohammed and May -- whose conditioning has been repeatedly criticized by first-year Bobcats coach Larry Brown -- were earmarked in last week's trade talks as replacements for Diop to back up Mavs center Erick Dampier.

The possibility of Stackhouse winding up with the Thunder has been discussed for weeks, sources said, with that scenario first surfacing in a standard two-team deal that would have sent Watson to Dallas. Stackhouse, 34, has played in only eight games this season but can be bought out next season for $2 million, making the former All-Star's current $7 million salary a virtual expiring contract.

If these three-way talks dissolve completely, Dallas is expected to continue to push hard for at least one trade before the February deadline, with Stackhouse's cap-friendly contract and possibly another former All-Star -- swingman Josh Howard -- in play.

"Dallas is talking to everyone," one rival executive said.

If a team trades for J-Ho they will give up a player they think sucks and probably does. J-Ho has lost his trade value. What has this guy done on the court in 2 years? J-Ho looks like a first half player. He starts off good because the teams are playing relaxed then he disapears come the second half. When the Kidd trade happened J-Ho was one of the players thought would benifit the most. J-Ho I thought was known as a slasher. You would think Kidd and Howard would be hooking up all the time. Every team that trades with the Mavericks are going to be looking for a hell of alot more because of what the Nets got for Kidd.

Have you even seen Jho play when dirk isn't playing? His punk ass plays great when he's either the number 1 guy or with out dirk. It pisses me off how good he can play when dirk is out. I think he averages around 30 points a game when dirk is out. He even gets like 8+ fts in those games. Some teams gotta want him, he has a great contract and could be a great player. I think it's just time for us to split with him.

He seems to not give a crap most of the time Dirk plays. When Dirk is out he plays like he could all the time circa 2006.

J-Ho also had a good 5 game stretch last year when Dirk went down against the Spurs.

Anyway, I'm calling tonight against denver a MUST fucking win. Why? Because if you go 0-3 against a 2nd tier team which the Nuggets are, then you suck.

Then I'm calling the game after against the Hornets at home a must win. Why? Because we got punked by them last year, and they're a divisional rival. If you lose at home to a divisional rival (Hornets/Spurs/Rockets) for the 3rd time in 3 tries, you suck.

Then I'm calling the Jazz game on Friday (or so) a must win. Why? Because WHY STOP THERE?

Although, if we win all 3 games, it probably doesn't change the fact that we're a mediocre team.

The latest rumor over here in Dirkland is:

Mavs get Felton, Nazr and Sean May
Cats get Watson and Diop
OKC gets Stackhouse and a 2nd Rounder

But its just speculation from german sports-newspage Sport1.de

If a trade like this should happen, I think Dallas needs to give Charlotte more than Diop for 3 rotation players.

Maybe its a realisitc trade, if they include Brandon Bass...
