Why don't they trade Vince Carter while he still has some value?
And in the first place... Why have they traded Jefferson instead of VC?
(RJ is younger)
I do not see the point of paying shitloads of dollars to him while rebuilding.
I did not get why they kept him if they traded away Kidd and RJ.
Is there something I dont see....

I believe RJ's contract is beyond 2010 so they needed to offload him in order to free space for a max offer to LBJ. Vince's contract will be up by then, so they could care less if he's traded ot let to expire. Besides they probably don't get good offers for him, that would work within their 2010 plan, as most teams in the league have their own 2010 plan and almost nobody wants to acquire a contract that runs after 2010.

I doubt they got any good offers for Vince and his massive contract...and RJ had a lot more trade value.

Besides they already robbed one team (i.e the Mavs) with a lopsided trade...their luck probably ran out :)

VC's contract runs past 2010 into 2012 I think.
Ferry offered Wally for VC after they traded RJ as it looked they were blowing up but Thorn declined. Now any trade rumors that pop up about VC the Cavs are linked too.

They still need VC to guerantee their ticket income and that they would not be too weak to attract LBJ as his contract expires (but I still don't think they are within LBJ's consideration). Jefferson is younger and even more capable that VC but he doesn't have as many fans as VC has, for sure jefferson also had plenty of fans in NJ but his injury frequency really pushed his team off their limit and decided to trade him. VC his also pretty frail, even more than Jefferson but the nets had no choice but retaining him, otherwise they would not retain their fans. NJ is so close to NY that they fans can easily drive their cars to NY and watch the knicks games. NY was much better than the knicks so they could keep their fans from joining the group of knicks fans, and VC was also a big reason for the nets fans to stay with their struggling team. Nets lost some jefferson fans as a result of trading him, but they have got millions more yi fans from china, so it's a good trade for the nets to trade jefferson for yi and simmons. In terms of their capabilities only, Yi and simmons' package is not even half as valuable as jeffereson, but yi has tens times fans as jefferson has.
please stop voting for yi, please :worthy: fuk yi.

Massive contract they gave to VC makes no sence anyways... failure franchise
Only Arenas's contract makes even less sence.

They are asking for two first round picks and a young potential all star for him.

They would probably ask for too much. Only Dallas was willing to do a stupid trade but even they figured it out now I guess. lol

1. Last summer, the Nets gave Vince Carter a four year, $65 million contract that made him difficult to move
2. Vince Carter is still a bigger ticket seller than Richard Jefferson
3. At their respective ages, Richard Jefferson had more value and likely got them a better deal
4. The thinking was that the Nets were freeing up cap space to target LeBron James in 2010. LeBron James plays small forward. Richard Jefferson plays small forward. Vince Carter plays shooting guard.
