In other games Rockets neck to neck with lakers. And oh, Pistons lose to the Bobcats. It would be funny if Memphis wins this one.

The only way this could possibly be any better was if his tenth (is it ten?) game was played against the Blazers...

It will screw their 09 plan not 2010.

Good think Miles didn't get hurt on that missed dunk or else the Grizzlies would have had to pull a Nykesha Sales next game . . .

not even that. Blazers still have a lot of options to open enough cap space to become a player in the 2009 free agency. even with Miles back on their payroll they will be 8-10 millions under the cap, if they renounce the rights for Diogu and Frye. they could also waive either Outlaw and/or Blake, both 09-10 salaries are not guaranteed. that way they can increase their cap space to 15-18 millions. enough to go for a premium FA.
more likely they will do some moves at deadline to get some picks back for the mentioned players.
so or so, the Miles story hurts them, but watch out for Pritchard to even more push for trades that bring them back into position for the free agents race 2009. he will be a man on a mission to show the league that his plans can't be "sabotaged".
and there will be teams that deal with the Blazers. it's just to attractive what they can offer.
(this of course also includes the Spurs, who do have some use for most of the mentioned players)

Considering all the teams that would be looking to dump salary to get into the 2010 free agent race, they could have had added a pair of huge pieces. They'll still do damage put that missing $$ will help the rest of the league.

I tried to figure out what player from the 2009 FA pool might really help them and can't see who. Bibby might be the best option, but he will be 31 next summer, a bit old considering the average age of the Blazers core. (that's the reason why I don't see them go for Andre Miller). maybe Odom, if they plan to play him as SF in a super size line up.

but overall not that impressive. so they likely will work on the trade market and there I still see the often rumored Hinrich option as the best bet. assuming that Hinrich recovers from his injury (he played on monday against the Blazers) and that he isn't as bad as he looked last year, he is a very good compliment to Roy in the back court. and the Blazers should be able to assemble a package the Bulls will like.

2010 is their target. they can offer the best package of salary, youth and talent. 2009 can only offer them a so-so player especially compared to who they can go after in 2010.

If the Blazers really want to help themselves then they should dump some of their dead wood. Like LaMarcus Aldrige. We'll take him lol.

You didn't hear? We traded Manu for him straight up. Now that the salary matches with the addition of salary on Portland's books.
