Thanks to the SpursTalk.com 1st Annual Carver Academy Holiday Fundraiser (http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112214), SpursTalk.com was able to generate $3,121.52 for the Carver Academy. A sincere thank you to all who donated and everyone else who makes this forum what it is today. We will make this an annual event so hopefully this is just the beginning.

There might still be a couple checks in the mail heading our way so I'll update the official total right before we make the final donation. We'll also begin putting the special symbol under the usernames of those who donated. If you do not want the symbol, please private message me and let me know.

Congrats to SpursTalk.com and thank you once again!

Way to go Spurstalk! This was a fantastic idea Kori. And the next time I need a ride to the airport or help moving I can give the Admiral a call since he totally owes me one now.

Nice.

Times are hard for everyone, it's great to see what can be done when we all give even a little. I hope we can up the amount every year too.

Thanks again Kori. It wouldn't have happened without you and timvp, but of course neither would ST. Appreciate it all.

Let's not forget that Kori and LJ kicked this off with $1000, and then chipped in 10% of what everyone else gave.

You should totally make this a Press Event. That's not some small amount that should just be dropped off. Cheesy smiles, big checks, press releases, the whole shebang. Way to go y'all!

I actually didn't either.
Is it too late to send some money your way?

No it's not too late. Thanks!

There was an announcement stuck at the top of Spurstalk in every forum for a few weeks. :)

I'm sure. I have a bad habit of not looking at the tops of the pages.

I'll PM you for the information.

Okay a few more checks trickled in. We are going to close the books on this now. This weekend, timvp will add the icons under the names of those who contributed and we'll arrange to get the money to Carver.

Thanks everyone!

If anyone is wondering why they don't have their little symbol for their contribution, it's because we haven't added them yet.

We are doing a forum upgrade next Friday night, so we will add them then.

Thanks,

Kori

how did the whole donation process go...? was it not a big deal? I mean did you all get to meet with 5-0 or was it just given to them?

I noticed it's been two years since this first went down and was wondering if this would ever get going again? I noticed the "annual" part so I was jw.

We were going to do it this Christmas, but things got hectic. I'll see if we can set it up for next month.

Hey i have a question about the Carver Academy. When i looked into it for our son (when he comes of age), it looked to be really expensive to attend, something like 10 or 12k a year.

What exactly are the donations for, if they have such a steep tuition fee?

I am not asking to be a jerk, i am just seriously unaware of how that school works. I would love to send my son to something other than public school, so any info would be great.

Over 95% of the kids that go to Carver go on scholarship. Donations go toward everything the school provides.

Ah ok. I kind of thought it may have something to do with that. Thanks for clarifying.

Took me seeing whottt to do so. Thought rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated for a second there . . . :depressed
