Leading rebounder for the team at the moment with 4 in 7 minutes. :)

My only criticism of him thus far is that he needs to close out on the big man shooting the jump shot.

T Park

Id like to know why they cant set him up on the low post.

Why are we relying on Devin Brown and Robert Horry.

Other than that, he looks good.

T Park

Nice block on Illgauskas to force the 24 second.

Came down, and got a silly travel, but Malik did that too, so so far its a wash, and if thats so, then all the Nazr haters will be happy I guess.

timvp
02-28-2005, 08:12 PM
Nazr looks pretty good so far. He has long arms and looks like he'll be able to be a good rebounder. He already finishes stronger than Rasho, though I'd like to see him go up for dunks rather than layups.

His defense is okay so far. Nothing too bad. He's a little lost, but that'll come.

P.S.

TPark, why are you making this Nazr vs. Rose? They are both totally different players. Lose the hate.

P.P.S.

Nazr didn't block anybody yet.

Tpark, do me a favor.

STFU. You can't compare the 2 based on a half of basketball. You can't even compare the 2 after the rest of the season. When Nazr helps the Spurs win a title, then you'll have room to talk.

Untill then, STFU already.

One negative is I don't like his stroke on his jumper. I watched him warm up last game and his two jumpers this game didn't have a chance.

Stick to inside shots, Nazr.

he just uses wrist to flick it up there. It's odd, it's as though he's not useing any legs and arms, just wrist.

I do like the way he's taken it to the bucket when he's gotten it down low. I think he's been a bit nervous, but he actually uses glass. I don't understand why Rasho tries to put everything straight in, but I like the way Nazr attacks that bucket.

Kori Ellis

Good showing by Nazr. He was pretty much what I expected ... good rebounder, decent O game around the basket. If he can stay out of foul trouble, pick up the Spurs D and not try too much offensively, he should be a solid contributor in 15-20mpg.

whottt
02-28-2005, 09:52 PM
Oh im sorry, ill not say anything bad about him again.

I just think it's funny that you were calling him a cancer and then turned around and said you weren't hating.

Jimcs50
02-28-2005, 09:54 PM
Rose was in foul trouble all night tonight.

whottt
02-28-2005, 09:56 PM
In the reports I got from Knicks fans they said he gets a lot of stupid fouls and is in foul trouble a lot...that's probably his biggest weakness other than not rotating to help on D.

But I don't see that being a big deal if he is in a backup role. Malik could be pretty foul prone too(in fact he was tonight).

They said the best thing about him was his o rebounding and garbage work.

timvp
02-28-2005, 09:56 PM
As long as Nazr never shoots a jumper and sticks to the garbage points, he'll be fine. He looks bigger than I imagined, but his legs are pretty skinny. He's a top-heavy player, which means he probably won't be much of a post presence.

As long as he goes out and rebounds and plays D, I'll be happy. If he averages seven points and five rebounds, I'd be thrilled.

T Park
02-28-2005, 09:58 PM
I think you let him have hook shots, and other shots around the basket.

I think 8 and 8 10 and 8 is well within reason.

He looked pretty good for only 2 practices and 2 games, 1 played in.

The way the Knicks fans described him, his skills...they sounded like a lot of the reasons I wanted Elton Brand...o boards and garbage work.

It's important to note that the Knicks fans also said he wasn't lazy, they said he doesn't work as hard as Malik does(based on what they had seen)...but he's not a lazy player he just doesn't know how to play NBA D really.

Kori Ellis
02-28-2005, 10:00 PM
he just doesn't know how to play NBA D really

I'm hoping that's just a product of the systems he's been in, not his inability to learn.

T Park
02-28-2005, 10:01 PM
If thats the case, he will flourish tremendously in this system.

Give him a couple weeks of teaching how to play D on this team, hell be a good player.

That might be a decent comparison.

Elton has a better jumper, but if Nazr can score like Elton, hook shots, in close shots and what not, and do the other stuff, wow, thats like gettting the player you wanted last summer...

ChumpDumper
02-28-2005, 10:02 PM
Seeing as he was 310lbs when he first went to Kentucky, I'm going to assume that he at least works decently hard to stay in shape. He does have alot to learn about Spurs D.

timvp
02-28-2005, 10:02 PM

That's right, I forgot about the limited minutes, either way I was still impressed with Nazr....

After thoroughly reading all the reports from Knicks fans that I polled for info on Mohammed..

I think we basically traded Malik's intensity and desire for size.

I think they are actually kind of similar players...they both have bad hands, they are both foul prone, and they both make stupid plays.

All you guys that wanted Malik traded because of his TO's...well Nazr may not make as many bad passes as Malik(because he doesn't pass the ball at all)...but near as I can tell he has just as many of them bounce of his hands as Malik did. So don't expect AHF's blood pressure to be going down anytime soon.

After reading all those reports...I don't think Mohammed is the stiff I feared he would be, and that was my major concern, he's not a stiff and he is active on offense..but his D needs a lot of work and he's not going to be as tough or as much of an energy player as Malik was,...but I think Mohammed is going to be the best finisher we have had around the basket other than David Robinson and he is probably going to end up playing better with Duncan than Rasho does...

T Park
03-01-2005, 01:25 AM

But I would agree, he prob will play better with Duncan than Rasho.
