I'm not taking anything away from the Spurs
I still hate the Lakers
Yeah, we almost chocked.
But on the 2nd tough road game of Back2back nights, the Lakers found a way to stay in the game.
Good job Lakers. :toast

I give the Fakers all the credit in the world for one heckuva performance. Especially considering they were on the 2nd night of a B2B. I can't stand Kobe personally, but he is an absolute joy to watch. You just knew that the 11-pt lead wasn't going to be safe. He practically willed his team to victory.
The Fakers are THE team that worries me most - no doubt.

Like I posted in the game thread Bynum is going to be great, and looks down to earth, not that bs attitude that Howard or Amare has, not that I'm comparing him to them right now in terms of ability..

well, all I will say is they probably wouldn't have shot any better had it been the first game of that b2b.
having said that, the Lakers are still the team we must practice to beat. One game does not a 7 game series make.

I don't think Bynum is going to be "great"..he's a soft player, and doesn't have the worker's mentality to be "great"..he's going to be really good, not great IMO..he's going to play the Gasol role in the future, where he'll be the 2nd option..
Lakers get their ups though..they're arguably the best in the NBA..they have the best player in the NBA..they only have 7 losses though, so I won't give them too much love..we still have ways to go to match them..
damn, I feel dirty for giving the Lakers some love..KOBE'S A RAPIST!!..there, that felt better..

The Lakers are a great team as long as they have Kobe and PJ. Still, we faced an undermanned and unrested LA team tonight. Don't get me wrong, I loved the win tonight and got caught up in all the drama, but I don't think it was a statement game from the Spurs. Had we beat them by double digits or so, then I would say the Spurs made a statement. However, the Spurs have a lot of work ahead of them. Manu is starting to round into form, and the defense has to start tightening up. I think this team is waiting until the end of the season to show what they have to offer. You know CIA Pop; don't show your hand unless it is necessary. I am eagerly awaiting another rematch of last years WC finals because at the moment, I can only think of 2 teams worthy of reaching that point.

make what? LOL it wasn't that difficult of a shot..
Mason is among the top 3 in 3-point shooting this year..he's made 3 game winning 3's, he's clutch as hell..
comparing a random average player making 3 mid-range J's in a row in the 4th quarter to bring the Lakers back..to a guy making 1 and-1 shot to win the game..it's not the same at all..

Game shouldn't have been that close. Ginobili, Parker, and Duncan all had some bad turnovers to leave the door open.
But the way it ended was perfect. I love beating the Lakers in the last seconds.

You can have the regular season victories.
I'll take the playoff wins, thank you very much.
We all know when it comes down to it the Lakers are the better team. 2nd night of a back to back, on the road, missing several key rotation players, starters playing heavy minutes......Spurs barely win by 1 pt on a fluke foul by Fisher. Simply put the Lakers showed why they are the best team in the WC in this loss.

lakers did a great job coming back but i also noticed a few mental mistakes on our part that should be fixed by focusing more. so all in all im happy with the win because both teams had great opportunities.

A win is a win, no doubt about that.
But this win doesn't necessarily prove the Spurs can compete in a 7 game series. Had they held LAL to 90 pts, grinded the game out, been super physical, harassed Kobe into a horrible shooting night....then I would start worrying. Until the Spurs start doing that they likely won't be able to beat the Lakers. Unless you think they can continue to score > 110 ppg.

Until the D can consistently play well especially in the clutch, the Lakers arent winning a championship anytime soon. Last year their D was shit. This year their D is shit even with Bynum and Ariza. That is seriously a glaring weakness for the Lakers. Fans think the D is going to magically play great out of nowhere because "it's the Lakers". They are a great offensive team but their vulnerable D is going to be their downfall come playoff time. You ought to be more concerned with that anything else.

No surprise from a Laker fan. Anyway, I'll give props to Bryant but something I've noticed about Bryant. If he stands ANYWHERE on the court for more than four seconds, he's gonna make the shot from that spot.

There were so many teams in the NBA I grew up not liking. A few I even hated. But yall can thank spurstalk for me changing my ways. Now I love the NBA. I dont hate any team out there. Guess when you get to see the players up close and personal its a better life then the normal fan. There is not enough time on this planet to hate the Lakers. none on this board claimed that this win proved the Spurs would beat the Lakers in a 7 games series.
on the other hand, the Spurs are just one big man away from getting at the same level, a smart move should get this done. what goes for the Spurs is, that they have more clutch weapons than the Lakers. Kobe is great, but you won't want to get into a last second decision against Tim, Manu and Mason.

I agree the Laker's defensive woes need to be addressed, but I get the feeling we aren't seeing their maximum intensity right now in January. What I saw X-mas day is more indicative of what I'd expect to see in the playoffs.
Phil does not want to burn the team out this soon and risk further injury to key players.

Phil and Kobe really wanted to win this game at all cost, trust me. The other guys on your team I'm not sure. On a clip I saw at the LakerGround of the last 12-sec I was shock to see Bynum reaction on the bench when Mason scored that last shot and got foul - he simply started laughing :bang
The kid has a lot of talent but I don't think that he still have the right attitude to win it all yet. That can be a huge liability come playoff time,

So that was Bynum laughing? I found that kinda weird too but maybe you're right, after all, he was the youngest player in the NBA at one point. I'm sure the rest of his teammates will bring him into reality, I'm sure he's just getting used to playing a bigger role on the team. But seriously though, this game was freaking awesome to watch.

I remember a couple seasons ago, when Oberto got into somebody's head... and caused the guy to get ejected.
Oberto "accidentally" bumped into the guy while walking off the court when the guy was already highly pissed about something, and the guy reacted and got ejected...
was that Bynum, or am I thinking about someone else?

I went to the game ...and the quote here is accurate BEST Lakers loss I had EVER been to ...BUT the fact that this win was celebrated so mightily ...by a 4 -time champion shows that many of you deep down inside fear and respect the Lakers only a few on here said it meant nothing ...but by the level of play you cant tell me Manu TIm And Kobe were not dialed in ...
And for yall fool's that say Lebron is better than Kobe last night sealed it for me Kobe is the best ..Popm, Manu and Mason all said it in post game comments the reason why is against a team that protects the paint well like the SPurs Kobe is way more deadly ....
Lebron is the better physical, talent and open court player no doubt ...but how many guys in the league can put up 29, 7 and 10 against the Spurs?

Growing up in SA there was one team despised over all the others combined, and that was the LA Lakers. It's too late to change me now. I cheer for two teams in this league on any given night...the San Antonio Spurs, and whoever is playing the Lakers.

I don't see why everyone finds it so outrageous that josh powell made 3 open jump shots in a row. He's in the NBA. He probably practices that all day, every day. The only one that was a little surprising was where he pump faked his way to the baseline and then rose up and shot it. he was guarded at least a bit, and on the move, but he had also made some shots up to that point and had confidence. He was wide open on those shots. Don't act outraged just because he's not kobe.
