Parker
Ginobili
Bowen
Duncan
Bonner
I inserted Manu because it seems like Mason plays better with the second squad. Kurt and Money play the pick and roll well. Sometimes Manu plays better with the starting squad. It seems hard for Manu to get going with the second squad sometimes, like he forces too much.
Bowen needs more minutes!! We need his defense!! Lose step or not, he plays better D then Fin. This is the team, minus Bonner, that has taken us far and I think after the All Star break, or soon, we need to take it back to our Roots!!

We need
Sorry...
We need experience in our "second" squad so either manu or bowen has to be in it...
But I think we have seen those last years and hundreds of games that Manu is a threat when he come off the bench...

I'd just swap Bowen for Finley and leave Mason starting, but anything that gets Fin out of the starting lineup and starter's minutes is good with me.
In spite of the fact that this may be Fin's best offensive year in B&S, his defense is far too inadequate to offset his scoring bump. If you can jab step into a fadeaway, or dribble once or twice to the side and raise up into a jump shot, you can score at will on Finley.

I don't really know if Manu should start or not but I have to say he really hasn't brought that 'spark of energy right away that he was originally put on the bench for and that he's been doing for the last few years. I noticed it's taken him longer to bring it after coming in now so maybe that wouldn't hurt.

I would swap Finley for Bowen but leave the rest of the starters the same. If we are able to acquire a competent defensive and rebounding big via trade (Joe Smith, Collison, Ratliff, Wilcox, etc...), I would start them ahead of Bonner.

Our second squad would be
MONEY
HILL
FIN
BONNER
THOMAS
adequate amount of experience
Well, Manu hasn't been the spark off the bench so far. And there have been plenty of times in past where he starts and then goes back to 6 man later in season or playoffs. WE NEED CHANGE!

I meant "offensive" experience, in drawing plays, I love Hill, but it takes time to know what to do when things don't go the right way...
That's why Manu often becomes the second playmaker in the second squad (along with Hill).
But overall I trust Pop for knowing better than us who fits where and when!

The problem with going with this squad is that there are no playmakers. We are trying to solve offensive problems, not create them. Manu is getting there. He is still moving towards his full potential and I think that it still better serves us for him to be there in the second unit to both be a playmaker and create shots for others.

Offensive problems???
We are fine there actually, its our defensive that sucks. I agree with the lack of playmakers but I think like in the beginning of the season they can adjust. Money at point most of the time and Hill slicing does good for most part. And usually one guy from the starting squad usually overlaps with the second squad...being one of the big three.

What's that?
Is that a video game?
I am still playing David Robinson's Supreme Court for Genesis.

The thing though is that lately when Manu's come off the bench the other team has gone on a nice run and not the other way around.

I don't know about starting a game with that lineup, but I do like finishing one with that group...of course with Mason handy as well for late-game heroics.

+ I haven't noticed the Spurs having trouble in the first 6 minutes of their games. Have you?

I like Mason starting. I think it's key that he gets some shots to get him going. I want to replace Finley with Bowen really bad but I think we will have to wai tuntil the playoffs for that to happen. If Fab could get back to where he was, I wouldn't mind him starting over Bonner but I would still want Bonner to get significant minutes like he is now. If Fab can't, then nevermind.

Manu is cute and aggressive but his stamina doesn't allow him to play 35 or more, I mean he can't keep efficient throughout all the minutes he plays if he plays that long. 39or some is ideal gt for him so he used to be the 6th man, and I think he fits the 6th role more tahn the starting 2.
Mason players good with 2nd squad so he shouldn't start either, but why the hell not put finley into starting line-up? Finley used to start for the spurs in the past seasons and he is even more effective this season than before.
Parker
Finley
Bowen
TD
Bonner
Just similar to the squad of the past several seasons, the only adjustment is bonner who takes the place of Oberto.

Hill still goes through long stretches where he is not aggressive...so I don't really trust him to be a full time slasher yet. You basically echoed what I said in your last sentence though. I would either leave Duncan or Manu in with the second unit to keep the offense from going to stagnant. Both require extra attention and that will create better opportunities for the role players on the second unit.
