I don't like that dude, and he is a big time Laker homer. He dissed pop and the Spurs after his comment on the Gasol trade.

And for the most part, he's okay with the Spurs because Bowen has been on the show quite a bit.

Rome: "if you had it to over again, would you play again in Beijing?"

pretty good interview but man Im kinda glad it was a short one, I puked a little in my mouth after listening to Rome. He sounds like such a complete douchebag. That hole "what a great guy.... wow....". Its not so much that he says it, its that damn douchebag tone that he uses when he says it.

I thought Rome was sincere when he says "Manu sounds like such a great guy".

The interview with the Oregon St head bb coach (Obama's bro-in-law) right before was greatness.

Rome asked "Do you feel like Lakers game was a statement game?" Manu said "we did have a great game, but we got lucky. Mason hit a shot with 5 secs. left and got fouled. We are trying to improve...So far they (the Lakers) are the favorites.

Too old? People said we were too old the past 2 years. We won championship 2 seasons ago and made it to conference finals last season. It would be disrespectful to count us out. We aren't asking for people to count us in, we'll just wait and see.

Injury? It's my first surgery. Healthwise I'm good, even after b2b. Just need to get my rhythm back and confidence.

He and Pop talked alot during the summer about the ankle injury. Spurs sent people to Argentina and the Dr. told me it would get injured again, just a matter of time. I had Spurs blessing to play. It turned out better that I was injured and was able to get the surgery before the season, rather than have it happen during the season and be out for 3 months.

Gold medal or NBA championship better? Both really but if you asked me 10 years ago if I would get either one, I would not have expected it. The Olympics were special because I was playing for Argentina which is not known for basketball and I was playing with my friends that I had played with for a long time. It's hard to beat getting the gold medal...and with the Spurs we have won 3 times so that was good too. (paraphrased)

Rome talked about Manu's frenetic, all-out playing style and if he knows he needs to manage his injuries and prepare more as he gets older. Manu said he never thinks about it in that way, to prepare himself for injury. He's now 30 and he had his best season last year, so he thinks he has more improvement to make and he thinks he can continue to play at a high level in the near future.

Manu said they are trying to get back to be what the Spurs are known for which is a good defensive team.

Thanks and Hi to everyone listening.

Great interview. Manu's always so down to earth. I'm glad to hear him say that he's still working on his game rhythm and thinks he has a lot left and I love his way of saying that the Olympic success was more important to him then the NBA.

A great part of Manu's success its based on him being waaaaaaaaaay smarter than the average NBA player (add some coaches too). Then comes his natural talent, competitiveness, and heart.
