If you are the Mavs, do you do it?

Marion plays good defense, rebounds very well, is athletic and will do the kinds of cuts that will work well with Kidd, doesn't need the ball to be effective... I think the Mavs would be extremely smart to do this.

Marion is an older, suckier version of Josh with the same attitude problems. NO thanks.

A good trade for both teams.

Marion and JHo are about the same. The only thing that pisses me off is Cuban waving it off like he's offended that JHo's value is only Marion.

Fuck him. We'd be lucky to get an impact player for the retard blackhole.

Marion runs the floor, plays defense, rebounds, and would fit perfectly into Mark Cuban's 2010 pipe dream. The Mavs would be idiots to not do this trade.

But Cuban already said this deal isn't happening.

I'd rather the Mavs get younger by moving Josh, not older. I know we can only probably get 60 cents on the dollar for him, but I don't want a guy like Marion. And like you said, 2010 is a pipe dream, so that doesn't factor into it for me.

And like you said, 2010 is a pipe dream, so that doesn't factor into it for me.

2010 factors in big for me, because, pipe dream that it is, it is absolutely the ONLY source of hope for a title any time soon.

The Mavs have 3 options with regard to their immediate future -

1. Stay on the 35-45 win Treadmill Of Mediocrity for a few more years before Dirk leaves/retires and then start all over.

2. Blow the entire thing up completely right now, wave the white flag, and start all over, hoping you'll get good again in 5 years or so, but you never know when you actually will.

3. Dump salary like a madman with Dirk being the only exception, acquire all the young athletic talent you can and give them playing time immediately in the hopes that by 2010 you have a few good role pieces in place. You'll have Dirk in full Robin mode, and you pray like hell that Batman comes to the rescue.

Option 3 is obviously the least likely scenario, but it's also the only scenario with the hope of a championship.

So I'm all in with Cuban's 2010 pipe dream.
