maybe we can add a thread in the sub forum that is "UTSA trash talk" but we need to sign a waiver in there that there is no crying or no swelling vagina's. So basically none of the UTSA supports can post in there hahhaha.

I think I may have found the culprit...
Unruptured Cerebral Aneurysm Symptoms
Before an aneurysm ruptures, patients often experience no symptoms of brain aneurysms. In about 40 percent of cases, people with unruptured aneurysms will experience some or all of the following cerebral aneurysm symptoms:
-Peripheral vision deficits
-Thinking or processing problems
-Speech complications
-Perceptual problems
-Sudden changes in behavior
-Loss of balance and coordination (I'm pretty sure he also had this, but I'll keep it off)
-Decreased concentration
-Short-term memory difficulty
-Fatigue
Seems to fit, although those symptoms seem to apply to 95% of UTSA supporters. Very similar in fact to their admissions rate, hmmm...

I remember when I threw a temper tantrum because my Dad was going to let me go to the Fall Out Boy concert but he told me I had to be home by 10pm. I said a few angry words and he didn't let me go to the concert at all after that. I was angry but it was a just punishment. Not like that shit he pulled right after I turned 33. That was some bullshit.

You and the other two USC fans don't freak out and break down when random internet people talk shit about Tommy Trojan. Same with you and Doug when we rag on the fags that guard your border collie and your train station. Or when you guys dog us over Thug Life and UT football program.

...as far as what the bookstore has, it is VERY limited. as of last month, they were sold out of chairs (the amount they ordered was a joke, btw). they also do not have any tents or flags either. just a few months ago they started selling hats with the new logo when they were readily available at walmart and academy.
we're working with the bookstore and distributors to get more of these items available. it's ridiculous they do not even carry flags, we had ours custom made. as far as the tents with the new logo, we found a distributor to make them but a minimum order was required so we're working with the athletic department staff to make this stuff available to everyone.
i'll personally keep EVERYONE on spurstalk updated as more products become available, this i promise
business-wise, my bad for bringing it up yesterday
as far as my tailgating proficiency, we are pro's. we do this everywhere. (ut, a&m, cowboys, alamobowl/hs games @ alamodome, nascar, etc). what i lack in logo chairs for all of my teams, i make up with a never ending supply of food & beverages, multiple flat screens with satellite service & video games, and the great company. (btw, u haven't lived till u've had our fajitas that get marinated for a week.) come on out it u want.

But apparently, per tony, its not banworthy.
as far as i know, nothing happened from the incident expect the college forum went down a few days while kori cleaned it up and added 2 sticky threads. no one was banned because of that...i agree it wasn't cool what went down, but it wasn't that big of a deal (according to the moderators)

no one was complaining about the 2 sticky threads at the top of the page. everyone was complaining why MORE threads were being creating in addition to those threads. some non observers have said they had no problem with the number of threads. kori herself said it that she listened to other posters who had been here longer...i guess that's fine, but they'll still be a game thread especially as the madness starts

Why not just respect the fact that Kori wanted all UTSA to remain in those two threads? It is her forum and you should feel lucky to even have that. Not all universities have sticky threads. A supporters only thread I might add because you and your other fans can't handle a little smack.

she never said that to anyone, publicly or privately. sticky threads are just that. smack is smack and i really don't care (although, i agree with u some people on both sides did over react). but importance is a matter of presepective. someone started an a&mcc thread last week. i'm down with that, they're having a good season and the southland conference is ultra competitive this season. for UTSA, the next 2 games are against the 2 top teams in the SLC (a&mcc & sam hous st). PLUS u have local recruits signing with big east teams while UTSA has a team filled with jucos...and we're suppose to talk about this in one thread because rrinkorea wants that leach contract story on the front page. run the smack, i don't care, i'm here to talk sports.

Fuck you j-6! That dog is worth more than your piece of shit drugged up walking sirloin. It's a pure bred border collie, you can't just get that shit at a local petsmart. It takes years of inbreeding to make something that beautiful and obnoxious, so of course we would defend it at all costs.

If all you have in life is "repping u'r team" on a message board, that just means you have a very sad life.
The reason people talk about Mike Leach's contract and other things like that is because Tech is a major university that gets national attention. NATIONAL attention. There are people on here that are from around the NATION. If you are annoyed about one thread on Mike Leach that only Blake and the Raiders guy gave a fuck about then how do you think everyone else feels about your 20 threads on topics that only 3 people give a fuck about?
And I know you are going to reply with your typical "i don't care about other haters, i'm here to rep my scool" shit so save it.

thank you for the life lesson, but if all youu have in life is responding to and ripping people who disagree with you not on topics of discussion but the importance of those topics, then you have a very sad life.
this is a sports forum and i'm a sports fan, part of being that repping u'r team. i understand the "national" attention of a leach story (although i'll argue it's importance) but i was just using that as an example on how DEAD the college sports forum is and was. there is absolutely almost no college basketball talk here. start a tamucc thread or a jmu thread...aggie fan should be about it after last night, but just cause they don't do it, don't ask me not to. run smack, do whatever, disagree, or agree: that's what a forum is all about.
no one is telling u not to hate or troll or do whatever else happens in every single thread on this site...just quit complaining about the number of threads. if the moderator chooses to close them (like she does with trade parker, acquire wallace/carter threads), then let her.

own a multi million dollar company (yet you arent really rich......you just have disposable income whatevr the hell that means)
I would assume "multi million dollar corporation" is discussing gross revenue, or general capital, not profits. Many "multi-million dollar corporations" lose money (see current financial crises full of multi-BILLION dollar corporations losing money).
I'd say TLF considers himself mid to upper middle class, or possibly lower echelon upper class (from the little I've seen him write about himself). Rich is very subjective though.

• UTSA leads the league and ranks ninth nationally in turnover margin (+4.9)
• Sophomore guard Devin Gibson leads the NCAA in steals per game (3.5)
UTSA/Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Series History: The Islanders lead the all-time series, 7-2, and won the first meeting this season, 80-66, on Jan. 24 in Corpus Christi. UTSA won the first-ever matchup, 95-80, on Nov. 27, 1999, and the last meeting in San Antonio, 65-51, on March 1, 2008, both at the Convocation Center. The series is tied at 2-2 in the Bird Cage.
Last Meeting: Senior Travis Gabbidon topped 20 points for the third consecutive game with a game-high 25, but Texas A&M-Corpus Christi used balanced scoring in an 80-66 victory over UTSA on Saturday afternoon at Dugan Wellness Center. The game was played at the Islanders’ new on-campus recreational sports facility due to the American Bank Center being booked with a circus all weekend. UTSA shot just 33.3 percent (23-for-69) from the floor, including 5-of-29 (17.2 percent) from downtown, and was outrebounded 45-30. Gabbidon added nine rebounds in nearly posting his third consecutive double-double, and the Phoenix native has tallied 71 points in the last three games.(23.7 pg). Sophomore Devin Gibson pitched in with eight points and six thefts. Justin Reynolds led the Islanders with 15 points, while Filip Toncinic, Kevin Palmer and Shamar Coombs added 13 apiece. AMCC shot 57.4 percent (31-for-54) from the field and held a 49-31 advantage in the paint.
Scouting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi: The Islanders fell to 14-11 overall and 8-2 in the league with a 75-73 home loss to Sam Houston State on Saturday. Junior transfer Kevin Palmer leads the team in scoring at 16.9 points per game, while sophomore Demond Watt is the top rebounder (6.2 rpg). Head coach Perry Clark is 23-31 in his second season at the helm.
Last Time Out: Senior Travis Gabbidon led three Roadrunners in double figures with 18 points, but Marquez Haynes poured in a game-high 27, including the game-winning basket with 4.4 seconds to play, to lead UT Arlington to an 84-82 victory over UTSA last Saturday at Texas Hall. Trailing, 82-80, with the shot clock turned off, Gabbidon was fouled on a shot attempt and made both free throws to knot the score with 10 seconds remaining. Ro’ger Guignard took the inbound pass and found Haynes on the right wing and the Irving native drained a 17-foot jumper with 4.4 ticks left to give the Mavericks a two-point lead. Sophomore Devin Gibson, who scored 10 in his first game back since Jan. 24, dribbled the length of the floor but his off-balance desperation shot from near the 3-point line rimmed out as time expired. Gabbidon was 9-for-13 from the free throw line in leading UTSA in scoring for the 11th time this season and he added a team-high seven rebounds and three steals. Junior Morris Smith IV drained four 3-pointers en route to 16 points, his sixth straight game in double figures. Gibson was 4-of-6 from the floor and added six boards and four assists, while junior Omar Johnson dropped in nine points, six rebounds, five dimes and a pair of thefts.
Home Court Advantage: UTSA totes an all-time record of 250-112 (.691 winning percentage) in the Convocation Center. The Roadrunners are 9-2 at home this season, with the only two losses in double overtime by a combined six points, and have won 11 of their past 15 at the facility dating back to last February.
Non-Conference Success: UTSA picked up its ninth non-conference victory of the regular season on Jan. 21 against Texas-Pan American, breaking the school record of eight set in 1990-91. The Roadrunners have recorded six wins against Division I teams — Rice, UMKC, Georgia State, SMU, Colgate, Texas-Pan American — which is the most out of league play since the 1989-90 team also won six. The 1990-91 squad won a school-record eight. Three of this year’s non-conference DI victories came on the road, the most since UTSA joined a conference (Trans America Athletic) in 1986-87.
A Good Start: At 10-5, UTSA registered its best 15-game start since the 2001-02 team also began with a 10-5 mark. Five teams have started 10-5, which rank second only to 11-4 starts in 1989-90 and 1990-91. Now with 15 victories, UTSA already has surpassed last season’s win total of 13 and still has seven regular season contests remaining on the schedule. Additionally, with a 6-3 start to conference play, the Roadrunners are off to their best nine-game start since the 2004-05 team began 7-2, which also is the last team to go 7-3 through the first 10 league games and record 15 or more wins (15-13).
Let’s Go Streaking: UTSA’s seven-game winning streak that began with a 76-72 win at UMKC on Dec. 22 and continued through a 62-55 victory at Nicholls on Jan. 14 is tied with Sam Houston State’s streak from Jan. 17-Feb. 7 for the longest in the Southland Conference this season. It also is the best at UTSA since the 2003-04 squad also won seven straight from Feb. 25-March 12. The Roadrunners now have won 11 of their last 14 contests, with two of those losses by a combined six points in double overtime (Jan. 17 vs. UT Arlington, Feb. 4 vs. Sam Houston State).
Senior Snags Another SLC Honor: Senior Travis Gabbidon was named Southland Conference Player of the Week on Jan. 26, his second honor in four weeks. The Phoenix, Ariz., native averaged 24.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and four steals and shot 65.4 percent (17-of-26) from the field and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the free throw line in games against Texas-Pan American and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Gabbidon also collected the weekly award on Jan. 5 after posting 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in victories against SMU and Colgate.
Record-Setting Night: UTSA set six school records in the 136-68 victory against East Central on Nov. 22, as the Roadrunners improved to 24-4 all-time and 3-0 under third-year head coach Brooks Thompson in home openers. Following is a list of the broken records:
Points: 136 [132, vs. Texas State (11/24/90)]
Winning Margin: 68 [58, vs. Georgia State (2/10/90)]
Field Goal Attempts: 97 [91, vs. Georgia State (1/22/87)]
Rebounds: 65 [64, vs. Jarvis Christian (11/29/86)]
3-Pointers: 17 [17, vs. Stephen F. Austin (1/18/97)]
3-Point Field Goal Attempts: 43 [37. vs. Northwestern State (1/19/08)]
Additionally, UTSA set Southland Conference season highs for points, margin of victory, field goals (51), field goal attempts, 3-point field goals, 3-point field goal attempts and rebounds in that contest.
Keys To Success: UTSA has discovered several keys to success this season. The Roadrunners are 13-2 when holding their opponents to under 50-percent shooting from the floor (4-0 under 40 percent), as opposed to a 2-6 record when foes shoot above 50 percent. UTSA also is 10-1 when it outrebounds opponents, with the only loss a 74-72 decision at Texas-Pan American in a game that the Roadrunners held a slim 29-28 advantage on the glass. UTSA also is 12-2 when leading at the half and a perfect 9-0 when holding opponents to under 70 points.
Creating Havoc: The Roadrunners are forcing their opponents into an average of 19.6 turnovers per game this season. Nine opponents have committed 20 or more, led by a season-high 34 from East Central on Nov. 22. A large reason for UTSA’s success in creating opponent miscues is the fact that the team is coming up with a league-best 10.2 steals per contest (4th/NCAA). Led by 2007-08 NCAA steals champion Devin Gibson, a sophomore who leads the nation with 3.5 thefts per game, all 13 Roadrunners have teamed up to record 234 steals this year. That number includes 131 in 10 home games (11.9 spg), highlighted by a Brooks Thompson era best of 20 against East Central.
Taking Care Of The Rock: UTSA has been effective in taking care of the basketball this season. The Roadrunners are averaging 14.7 turnovers per game and boast the top turnover margin (+4.9) in the Southland Conference (9th/NCAA). UTSA, which boasts a 14-5 record when forcing more turnovers than it commits, has topped 20 turnovers in a game just three times this season but still forced more by two of those opponents in victories against Texas Wesleyan and Texas-Pan American. The season-low of seven came in the 76-72 win at UMKC on Dec. 22 and the Roadrunners committed just eight in the 88-79 victory over Central Arkansas on Feb. 11.
Hitting The Trifecta: The Roadrunners have been productive from beyond the 3-point line this season. Even with the arc moved one foot further from the basket, UTSA has shown it still can fill it up from downtown. Led by senior Joey Shank (51) and juniors Morris Smith IV (48) and Omar Johnson (43), the Roadrunners have drained 208 threes for a conference-leading 9.0 per-game average (8th/NCAA), as 10 different Roadrunners have contributed from behind the arc this season. UTSA, which surpassed last season’s total of 191 treys in the Central Arkansas win, has made at least one 3-pointer in all 82 games under third-year head coach Brooks Thompson, including five or more 57 times and six or more in 20 games this season. UTSA had made at least one three in 442 consecutive contests dating back to Jan. 5, 1994 (vs. Texas).
Balanced Attack: Led by senior Travis Gabbidon (13.7), junior Omar Johnson (13.6) and sophomore Devin Gibson (11.1), UTSA has displayed a balanced scoring attack this season. Six additional Roadrunners are averaging at least four points per contest: senior Joey Shank (8.7) and juniors Morris Smith IV (9.9), Josh Bonney (6.7), Demarco Stepter (6.1), Chris Allen (5.3) and Terry Fields (4.1).
Success At The Line: A pair of Roadrunners have broken the school record for free throw percentage in a game this season. Senior Travis Gabbidon drained 10-of-10 from the line in the Colgate victory on Jan. 2 to eclipse the previous standard (minimum of 10 attempts required) of 92 percent (12-13) set by Leon Watson against Texas College on Nov. 22, 1998. In the Central Arkansas win on Feb. 11, junior Omar Johnson matched Gabbidon’s effort with a 10-for-10 performance from the charity stripe to help the Roadrunners fire at a season-high 87.5-percent (21-24) clip. As a team, UTSA is shooting 68.2 percent (360-528) from the line, a considerable improvement over last season’s 65.8 percent (424-644) mark, and stands at 68.2 percent (161-236) in SLC games.
Double-Double Tracker: UTSA has registered 10 double-doubles this year, including a team-best four by senior Travis Gabbidon.
Demarco Stepter, East Central (Nov. 22): 12 points, 11 rebounds
Devin Gibson, Texas-Pan American (Dec. 18): 16 points, 10 assists
Demarco Stepter, UMKC (Dec. 22) : 15 points, 11 rebounds
Demarco Stepter, SMU (Dec. 29): 10 points, 10 rebounds
Josh Bonney, Nicholls (Jan. 14): 15 points, 13 rebounds
Richie Frohlich, UT Arlington (Jan. 17): 14 points, 10 rebounds
Travis Gabbidon, UT Arlington (Jan. 17): 23 points, 10 rebounds
Travis Gabbidon, UT Arlington (Jan. 24): 23 points, 12 rebounds
Travis Gabbidon, Texas State (Jan. 28): 18 points, 10 rebounds
Travis Gabbidon, Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 7): 11 points, 12 rebounds
Gibson Up For Cousy Award: Sophomore Devin Gibson, the 2007-08 Southland Conference Freshman of the Year, has been named a preseason nominee for the Bob Cousy Award, given annually to the nation’s top point guard. The Cy-Falls High product is one of three SLC players (Eric Bell, Stephen F. Austin; Kenny Dawkins, Lamar) and one of 46 nationally now on the watch list. In addition, Gibson also has been named preseason first-team all-conference and a CollegeHoops.net Preseason Mid-Major All-American. The 2007-08 NCAA steals leader (3.3 spg), he is averaging 11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.7 steals (1st/NCAA) per game this season. Gibson missed five games from Jan. 28-Feb. 11 due to a back injury.
Moving On Up: Sophomore Devin Gibson is making his way up a pair of UTSA career charts. The Houston native currently has 156 steals in 46 career games (3.4 spg), which is sixth on the school’s all-time chart and only four behind Keith Horne (160) for fifth place. No Roadrunner has recorded more thefts than Gibson in less than two full seasons. He also has tallied 595 points (12.9 ppg), ranking him 38th, is eighth in free throw percentage (.700) and stands ninth with 224 free throws. He also is on pace to appear on the school’s top-10 career list for assists (207, 10th=214) and the top 50 chart for rebounds (180, 50th=193).
Welcome Back: Senior Travis Gabbidon and junior Omar Johnson both were plagued with injuries last season, but have emerged as two of the team’s top scorers this year. Gabbidon, a Phoenix native and JUCO All-American at College of Southern Idaho, was UTSA’s leading scorer (13.9) and rebounder (5.8) until he went down with a season-ending injury at Lamar on Jan. 12. That happened one game after he scored 31 — the program’s first 30-point outing since 2003-04 — and grabbed nine boards against Texas-Pan American. Gabbidon is averaging 13.7 points (T-11th/SLC) and 6.7 rebounds (T-8th/SLC) per game this season, including 13.7 points (13th/SLC) and 8.3 boards (4th/SLC) in conference play. Johnson, a Philadelphia native and JUCO All-American at Barton County, missed all of last season with a stress reaction, but has made an immediate impact in his first 22 contests (missed Dec. 18 UTPA game with concussion). He ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game (T-13th/SLC) behind 42.2-percent shooting from beyond the 3-point line and has dished out a team-best 101 assists (4.6 avg; 3rd/SLC).
Model of Consistency: Senior Travis Gabbidon has been one of UTSA’s most consistent players in his two-year career. In his 37 games with the Roadrunners, the Phoenix native has reached double figures in scoring 30 times, including a career-best 31 against Texas-Pan American last year and a season-high 25 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He also has grabbed five or more rebounds 24 times, including a career high of 14 against Texas Wesleyan in 2007 and a season-high 12 versus Texas-Pan American on Jan. 21 and Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 7. His 234 career rebounds stand 44th (21st among players with two seasons or less) on UTSA’s career list. Gabbidon has been named Southland Conference Player of the Week twice this year (Jan. 5/Jan. 26).
Pinpoint Accuracy: Junior guard Omar Johnson has displayed pinpoint accuracy from beyond the 3-point line in his first season with the Roadrunners. The Philadelphia native had made 43-of-102 from behind the arc for 42.2 percent, which ranks fourth in the Southland Conference. Over the last three contests, Johnson has connected on 10-of-21 treys, or 47.6 percent.
Smith Finds His Stroke: Junior guard Morris Smith IV has found shooting stroke from downtown over the past three weeks. The St. Louis native drained seven 3-pointers in the 67-66 win at Lamar on Jan. 31 and has made 18 trifectas while averaging 17.6 points per game in the last five contests. Earlier this season, he enjoyed a seven-game stretch from Dec. 18-Jan. 10 in which he connected 19 times from behind the arc, including four long balls in the SMU win on Dec. 29.
No Shank Shots: Senior Joey Shank has been a consistent threat from behind the arc in his 51 games with the Roadrunners. Last year, the Folsom, Calif., native drained 67 threes, the sixth-best season in school history, and made three or more in a game 12 times. He put his name next to the program’s single-game record with eight treys in a win over Northwestern State last January and he nearly matched that effort with seven against Rice on Dec. 4 of this season, tallying a career-best 26 points in both contests. Shank, who has connected from downtown 51 times this year, is ninth on UTSA’s career chart with 118 threes (4th among two-year players). Additionally, his 36.5 career 3-point field goal percentage stands fifth in the school record book. This year, Shank is eighth in the Southland Conference in 3-pointers made per game (2.2).
Wiping The Glass: The junior duo of Josh Bonney and Demarco Stepter has made an immediate impact on the glass this season. Bonney, a native of White Castle, La., posted his first double-double in a UTSA uniform with 15 points and a season-high 13 rebounds in the 62-55 win at Nicholls and is averaging 4.7 boards per contest. He is averaging 8.3 points and 5.4 boards (19th) in SLC games. Stepter, who hails from Memphis, Tenn., ranks second on the team with a 6.0 rebounding average (16th/SLC). He is one of two Roadrunners and 13 league players with three or more double-doubles this season. He tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds against East Central, a season-high 15 points to go along with 11 boards against UMKC and 10 and 10 at SMU. He nearly posted his fourth with 10 points and nine rebounds in the double-overtime loss to Sam Houston State.
On The Tube: UTSA has at least eight regular season games scheduled for television this season. The Roadrunners already have played seven contests on the tube, dropping their first two at Oklahoma State (Cowboy Sports Network) and Iowa (Mediacom Connections) before winning four of the past five at UMKC (Metro Sports), at SMU (Time Warner Cable/Metro Sports), against Texas State (Time Warner Cable) and at Southeastern Louisiana (Southland TV). The Roadrunners dropped am 84-82 decision at UT Arlington on Southland TV on Feb. 14 and will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Time Warner Cable (Feb. 18).
Up Next: UTSA will travel to Huntsville to face Sam Houston State on Saturday, Feb. 21. Tip is set for 7 p.m. at Johnson Coliseum.

He smashes fertile women that like to party until 4AM. We've all done it. I don't know how much I can fault him unless he's setting up franchise families.
I never said I faulted him for that. I could care less if he hangs out with 4 stripper moms or the 4 utsa freaks.
My point was that he was babbling on and on about himself when none of us really could give a flip instead of babbling on about his school which none of us could give a flip about either.

By David Flores - Express-News The search for UTSA's first football coach has moved north.
With their self-imposed deadline less than two weeks away, UTSA athletic director Lynn Hickey and her staff started Tuesday the first of two days of interviews in Dallas with six of seven finalists for the job.
While there were indications former Miami head coach Larry Coker spoke with UTSA officials Tuesday, Mary Hardin-Baylor head coach Pete Fredenburg, who started the Crusaders' program in 1997, confirmed he had been interviewed.
“It was good,” Fredenburg, 61, said Tuesday night. “We just talked. It was pleasant and I enjoyed it. I'm very happy at Mary Hardin-Baylor, but any coach would have to be interested in the UTSA job. I just think that there's a great opportunity to develop a first-class program in a great city.”
Coker, 60, could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day, a woman answering the phone at his home in Fort Myers, Fla., said he wasn't home and wasn't expected until Tuesday night.
When asked if Coker was in Dallas interviewing for the UTSA job, the woman said, “I'm not at liberty to comment about that.”
A source at UTSA said Coker is a finalist and would be interviewed in Dallas.
Duke defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre, who served as an assistant coach with the Dallas Cowboys from 2003-06, is one of the candidates expected to be interviewed today. MacIntyre, 43, was on Bill Parcells' staff with the Cowboys and is highly regarded in the UTSA athletic department, the source said.
Longtime NFL assistant coach Bill Bradley, who lives in Spring Branch and has strong ties to Hickey and UTSA president Ricardo Romo, said Hickey has told him he would be interviewed in San Antonio later this week or early next week.
The identities of the three other finalists could not be confirmed. Hickey did not return a message left on her cell phone Tuesday afternoon, and her voice mailbox was full later.
Hickey and Romo have said they want to hire a coach by March 1. The Roadrunners kick off their first season in 2011 as an independent in the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly Division I-AA.
Fredenburg, a former assistant coach at Baylor, LSU and Louisiana Tech, is 99-29 in 11 seasons at Mary Hardin-Baylor and has led the Crusaders to the Division III playoffs seven times. Mary Hardin-Baylor lost in the 2004 title game.
Fredenburg coached 13 of his 14 seasons at Baylor under Grant Teaff, who along with former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum is serving as a consultant in UTSA's coach search. He was also on New Braunfels Canyon's first staff in 1971, before moving to New Braunfels High in 1972.
“San Antonio is a great city to recruit to and there is great talent regionally,” Fredenburg said. “If the city will embrace this project, it will be an incredible venture.”
Coker, who guided Miami to the 2001 BCS national championship, confirmed two weeks ago that he had sent his résumé to Hickey and spoken with her by phone.
Coker led the Hurricanes to a national title in his first season as head coach and went 60-15 before getting fired in 2006. Miami won three Big East titles in six seasons under Coker, who has been a college football analyst for ESPN the past two years.

I'm not sure what is in the UTSA water. I usually like lebomb as a poster and now he's going to pull this?
I've stayed out of it but this is getting beyond ridiculous now. UTSA fanbase is way out of line. They have such an inferiority complex that it's impossible for any type of civil conversation between UTSA fanbase and the outside world. It's just not going to happen.
And really, Kori was being nice about that 95% number. I think it's closer to 99%. A retarded amoeba could get accepted into UTSA with their current admissions policy. Has anyone heard of someone getting rejected by UTSA? I've never heard of that and I know someone who was turned down by SAC. UTSA is basically a giant community college. In fact, I never knew there was anyone proud of its sports programs until I saw a couple pop up on SpursTalk.
So yeah, if UTSA fan wants to fight fire with fire, let's go. I've sat idly long enough. You gonna call out the wife, you better get ready to defend that embarrassment of a so-called university that further makes San Antonio look like an uneducated cow town. As a neutral observer who doesn't give a fvck about any college, UTSA is a joke and the UTSA fanbase on SpursTalk is somehow turning into an even bigger joke.
Either grow the F up, stop talking UTSA sports or settle down and try to act like fans of a school that has an actual admissions process. I give UT fans a lot of ish but I've never seen them act like a bunch of sissies like the UTSA fanbase following the birth of their football team.

It is odd to me. I have never seen this from a school that isnt a "major school". I graduated from a school that had a baseball and volleyball team, but I wasnt delusional. I knew they werent a major school so if they got a football team I would make fun of them myself. Im sorry but any school that has over 90% admissions is a joke. I know some people that graduated and got into UTSA and all that tells me is that they take ANYONE. These guys wonder why they got trolled so hard and because of that they got trolled harder and its all come to this. Some of them say they will not stop supporting their school and im sure the people that laugh at them will not stop making fun of them (myself included). Anyways carry on, its been funny.

Texas Tech's 5 p.m. deadline Tuesday given to football coach Mike Leach to sign its latest contract extension offer came and went with still no resolution.
"Coach Leach has declined our $12.7 million contract," Tech athletic director Gerald Myers said in a statement Tuesday. "We will enter the decision-making process and should have some announcements by next week. Our decisions will be based on the best interest of Texas Tech and all of its supporters."
The Texas Tech Board of Regents, however, announced Tuesday a "special called teleconference meeting" from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, when in executive session, they will have a "discussion and consideration of matters ... including but not limited to the position of the football head coach."
In a phone interview Tuesday evening, Leach was asked if he was worried about being fired.
"Not really," Leach said. "We have an agreement both parties signed. We agreed to do two more years, and I don't see how that could be unsatisfactory to anybody. Why anybody would have a problem with two years left on my contract, I don't know."
He admitted disappointment with the events that have led to this point.
"Yeah, me and a lot of people are," Leach said.
About 40 people showed up at a rally on Leach's behalf just before noon Tuesday at the school's football offices in Lubbock to show their support. Leach, who returned to Lubbock late Monday after attending a rugby match in Wales on Saturday and the Daytona 500 on Sunday, briefly addressed the crowd, many of whom were students holding signs.
Tech chancellor Kent Hance said last week that if Leach didn't sign before the Tech-imposed deadline, then the coach would continue to operate under his contract that runs through 2010.
He is due to be paid $2.65 million next season and $2.35 million in 2010, which includes an $800,000 contract completion bonus at the end of 2009 and another completion bonus of $200,000 at the end of 2010.
Tech has the right to terminate Leach's current contract "without cause at any time and for any reason." Tech would, however, then have to pay Leach "liquidated damages" in an amount equal to 40 percent of the remaining guaranteed compensation and benefits. Since Leach is owed a guaranteed $4 million left on his contract, Tech could terminate him without cause and owe him $1.6 million.
Hance, who was in Austin on Tuesday and could not be reached for comment, has said that Tech possibly could make another run at extending Leach's contract after next season.
Tech officials and Leach's International Marketing Group agents, Gary O'Hagan and Matt Baldwin, have agreed in principle on compensation terms of $12.7 million over five years. However, negotiations have unraveled since Tech added four provisions Jan. 9.
The four points involve the guaranteed termination compensation Leach would receive if fired, the buyout amount he would pay if he left early, a penalty for interviewing for another job without permission and who controls Leach's personal property rights.
After 10 months of fruitless negotiations, Leach effectively enters the realm of a lame duck coach with a cloud of uncertainty hanging over his head.
Tech's Junior Day, when many of the state's top high school junior football recruits will be on campus, is a few weeks away. With Leach's future filled with insecurity, the Red Raiders' 2010 recruiting class could certainly take a hit.
All this comes after Leach led Tech to its best regular season in school history and an 11-2 record last year.
"If this doesn't come out favorably, which is mind-boggling because where did I fall short ... ," Leach said. "My only concern right now is coaching this team."

The Tech athletic department and booster club are run by a bunch of insecure, arrogant, tightwads that don't want Leach talking to anyone else and also think they can get someone as good as Leach if they let him walk
The only way I might think this would be even in the least bit plausible is if they knew for certain they could bring in Art Briles.....
but even so, they need to bust that f-ing piggy bank open, pay Leach what he wants and meet his contract demands in regards to opting out and interviewing with other schools.

Courtesy: Duke Sports Information
Release: 01/02/2008
Mike MacIntyre joined the Blue Devil coaching staff in January of 2008 after spending one seasons with the New York Jets. He serves as Duke’s defensive coordinator.
MacIntyre served on Cutcliffe’s staff at Ole Miss from 1999-02, helping the Rebels to a four-year ledger of 29-19 with appearances in the Independence Bowl (1999 & 2002) and Music City Bowl (2000). MacIntyre coached the 1999 and 2000 seasons with the Ole Miss wide receivers before tutoring the defensive secondary in his final two years.
While mentoring the Mississippi wide receivers, MacIntyre coached two of the school’s top pass-catchers in Cory Peterson and Grant Heard. On the Rebel career charts, Peterson ranks sixth in catches (135) and fifth in yards (1,842) while Heard stands third in receptions (142), third in yards (2,029) and second in receiving touchdowns (16). In 2001 — MacIntyre’s first season with the Ole Miss defense — the Rebels led the SEC and ranked fifth nationally in pass defense, allowing just 161.3 yards per game.
MacIntyre served the 2007 season as an assistant coach with the NFL’s New York Jets, coaching the defensive backs. He spent four seasons (2003-06) as an assistant coach under Bill Parcells with the Dallas Cowboys. During his time with Dallas, the Cowboys posted three winning seasons and earned playoff berths in both 2003 and 2006.
While with the Cowboys, MacIntyre coached safety Roy Williams, who was the eighth overall selection in the 2002 NFL Draft following a standout collegiate career at Oklahoma. Williams was selected to the NFL Pro Bowl in all four years that MacIntyre was on the Dallas staff and is one of four safeties in Cowboys history to earn four Pro Bowl berths. MacIntyre also coached cornerback Terrence Newman, who was an NFL All-Rookie choice in 2003 and an alternate for the Pro Bowl one season later.
MacIntyre got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at Georgia (1990-91) and then spent the 1992 season as the defensive coordinator at Davidson College.
Before joining Cutcliffe at Ole Miss, MacIntyre coached the defensive backs at Temple in 1997-98. Prior to his stint with the Owls, he was at Tennessee-Martin, where he served as co-defensive coordinator from 1993-95 and defensive coordinator in 1996. MacIntyre added recruiting coordinator duties in 1994 and became the assistant head coach in 1995.
A 1989 graduate of Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in business management, MacIntyre played two seasons (1987-88) at free safety and punt returner for the Yellow Jackets under head coach Bobby Ross. Prior to attending Georgia Tech, MacIntyre played two years at Vanderbilt (1984-85) under his father, George, who served as the head coach of the Commodores from 1979-85. He went on to earn a master’s degree in education with an emphasis on sports management from Georgia in 1991.
Born March 14, 1965, in Miami, Fla., MacIntyre and his wife, Trisha, have three children, Jennifer, Jay Michael and Jonston.

if this guy interviews like a mofo, which younger coaches typically do, i can definitely see him as the guy. BUT i've said all along that the recruiting/energy/coaching x's&o's are just as important as the fundraising/charm/namebrand the new coach will need to build. maybe coker is a re-tread but macintyre has never been a head coach before...

As we reported first on NEWS 4 WOAI, Former Miami coach Larry Coker is among the finalists for the UTSA head coaching job.
Athletic director Lynn Hickey is interviewing finalists in Dallas this week and Coker has interviewed for the job.
But News 4 WOAI has also learned that the search may be focusing on Mike MacIntyre. He is the defensive coordinator at Duke, and sources say he is said to be a leading candidate now.
MacIntyre is a favorite of Bill Parcells, Jerry Jones, and Pat Summerall. He was the Cowboys defensive backs coach for four seasons under Parcells and has been very impressive in his early talks with UTSA.
Hickey is also meeting with former Baylor assistant and Texas Longhorn star Bill Bradley, and Mary Hardin Baylor's Pete Fredenburg. Hickey hopes to have a new coach by March 1.

Actually, having a D1 team would impact the feasibility of professional ball whether it's a powerhouse or not. SA is borderline (at best) on being able to support an NFL team, so anything that takes money away from a prospective pro team lessens the liklihood of a pro team coming here.
Not like it'd be the first time he'd done something like that. Have you compared the current lease for TC compared to the first one that JJ said didn't favor the Cowboys enough? The new lease is more pro-SA than the first. What happened in the time between the two leases?
Mostly, I think JJ would donate enough to get news coverage so he could proclaim that SA deserves the best football it can get, then remind people the Cowboys are returning to SA for TC.

Actually, having a D1 team would impact the feasibility of professional ball whether it's a powerhouse or not. SA is borderline (at best) on being able to support an NFL team, so anything that takes money away from a prospective pro team lessens the liklihood of a pro team coming here.
wrong.
Not like it'd be the first time he'd done something like that. Have you compared the current lease for TC compared to the first one that JJ said didn't favor the Cowboys enough? The new lease is more pro-SA than the first. What happened in the time between the two leases?
SA realized that bending over for the Cowboys wasn't financially viable.
Mostly, I think JJ would donate enough to get news coverage so he could proclaim that SA deserves the best football it can get, then remind people the Cowboys are returning to SA for TC.
maybe, but he's not donating to keep the NFL out of SA.

Actualy, I know quite a bit about that. It's why I know SA is not exactly a player in getting an NFL team anyway.
Still, I brought it up earlier. SA is borderline (at best) NFL caliber town in terms of consumer disposable cash. You add something to consume more of the disposable cash, and it makes it less likely they'll come here. There is no benefit to come here in terms of TV contract (by far the most important part of NFL finances), merchandising (this is an exception with a couple teams, though, as they keep a share of their sales off the top), etc. It's all about tickets and suite sales. If you can't provide better tickets and suite sales than somewhere else, you ain't getting the NFL.
Stop beating around the bush and get to the point.

that makes no sense in regards to this, but if UTSA isn't going strong, then an NFL owner wouldn't worry about them and throws your whole 'theory' out.
Well, if UTSA does unexpectedly badly in terms of attendance, merchandise sales, etc, than it won't make much of a difference. The point is that SA is in a bad position anyway, so any worsening of that position affects the potential.
corporations do. Please tell me you think if a corporation had the choice between giving money to an NFL team or the roadrunners that they would choose the runners.....

I'll have to see if I can find the things I saw reported back then. IIRC there's a league rule saying you cannot discuss relocation during the active season, which is why Benson repeatedly told Harberger to talk to him after the season. Hardberger went very public saying he'd discussed it with Benson, and was going to sit down with him after the season (not really breaking the rule, but certainly skirting the spirit of it). Shortly after that is when Tagliabue basically said no way, no how were the Saints moving here.

There are no rules regarding where and when and to who an owner can talk to. When Benson was talking about moving the team to SA during the 2006 season, it was considered poor taste by many because of Katrina.
Benson was alluding to SA needing to build a brand new football stadium. Hardberger said the one we have is just fine and that was the end of that.
None of that had to do with the Cowboys, UTSA or anything else you try to pull out of your ass.

All I know is that if you look up the blog "Christian Sings the Blues," you will note that a porn star chronicles his entire "work" for a year out in LA and he is a former UTSA b-ball star. I think this is a bigger claim to fame for the school than Bruce Bowen.
Hope I don't get banned for this...

There are no rules regarding where and when and to who an owner can talk to. When Benson was talking about moving the team to SA during the 2006 season, it was considered poor taste by many because of Katrina.
I'm pretty sure there is, but since the bylaws are not available online that I can see, I can't verify that directly and have had a chance to look at any of the articles I read back then.
And 2005 season.
Benson was alluding to SA needing to build a brand new football stadium. Hardberger said the one we have is just fine and that was the end of that.
I remember talk of a new stadium in New Orleans (Blanco brought it up in September). Don't remember any talk of a stadium in SA until the east side project in 2006 or 2007 that was proposed by someone convicted of fraud previously that I never took seriously. Link?
None of that had to do with the Cowboys, UTSA or anything else you try to pull out of your ass.
Errr... Just because you sound confused, I'll clarify. The Saints situation (the details of which are meaningless anyway) had a causal effect. The effect part was how much of a pro-SA deal the city got from the Cowboys.
Not necessarily WHY they got the deal, but part of why this deal is better than the last one, which the Cowboys said did not favor them enough.

goddam you are a focking idiot.
I said Benson wanted the new NFL stadium and that Hardberger told him no.
The stadium proposal that was put together by a private company that you are talking about is a totally separate issue. Hell, you might also be thinking about the baseball stadium that the city/county was talking about when there was talk of the Marlins maybe moving here.
Hardberger: Dome or else for Saints
LAST UPDATE: 10/28/2005 11:16:28 PM
Posted By: Walter Pasacrita.
San Antonio Mayor Phil Hardberger said Thursday if New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson wants a new stadium as part of a plan to relocate the NFL team to the Alamo City, he can forget it and if that kills a future deal with the Saints, so be it.
Hardberger told the Express-News, "There have been general conversations along the lines that it would be nice to have" a new stadium, Hardberger said. "Let's say there have been some general hints that our standing would be improved if we said, We will build you a new, state-of-the-art stadium." Hardberger added that building a new facility with taxpayers money is not a good idea but there could be other ways to finance a new football stadium. "It could be, of course, that the state could get involved with that or it could be developers on their own right get involved with that," Hardberger said. "There are other ways stadiums get built. But as far as San Antonio being a player in the building of a new stadium, I wouldn't want to do that."

Uhh, I specifically mentioned the project I remembered, which obviously was not any of the Marlins proposals. I was stating the stadium talk I remembered, and since I didn't remember one in reference to the Saints, I asked you for a link. Since you had the year confused, I needed confirmation on something I didn't remember.
That you for providing the link.
Heck, I spent most of my time on New Orleans boards during that time (met some really interesting people). No wonder the New Orleans stadium talk stuck clearer in my mind.

Depends on your definitions. Roadies is far beyond pathetically hostile in my book.
To me, saying "focking clueless idiot" or some derivation every paragraph is pathetically hostile. Especially when we've already established you have no idea if I'm being serious with anything or not. Really "fool" or "moron" would be a more approriate term. At least get some new material, man. It's starting to bore me.
And including "entertaining" in that last sentence is asinine since you have no idea what is entertaining to me. High subjective term, unless you believe that everyone should think exactly like you.

Uhhh... Apparently you have trouble separating portions and wholes. As a whole, this is entertaining me. You're repetitive insult is boring. I mean, my mom used to come up with better than that (then again, my mom was a pro, can't expect people to live up to her standards).
As for our little conversation here...
You defended yourself against the "derogatory attitude" claim by basically stating you do exactly what I meant. Wow.
Otherwise, the big part of the debate was over my supposition that the deal for Cowboys TC became more pro-SA after the Saints as part of JJ's plan to keep a team out of SA.
You did absolutely nothing to refute it. It's not like it's hard. Since my premise is based on the intentions of someone who isn't around to verify/refute them, all that was needed was to come up with a viable alternative explanation as to why the deal changed.
Hell, a good tactic would have been to bring up the cost of moving equipment from Dallas to Cali vs Dallas to SA, and things like that. You could also have lessened the pro-Dallas image of the first agreement by reminding everyone that part of the financial incentive of the 2003 was to pay for new turf that the Alamodome still uses for all football events, and the sodding that was used in the temporary field was then used to replant youth parks.
Hell, anybody worth their salt would have at least brought up the kicker in the current TC agreement allowing the city to kick the Cowboys out if SA gets a team.
Gee, look, I just did more damage to my own premise than you did the entire time. Instead of actually trying to address the premise, you instead attacked details surrounding the background information that are unimportant to the general premise.
It's actually a common tactic used by people who are more concerned about tearing others down below them than elevating themselves.

How can I refute something when there's nothing out there to refute?
Of course, as you said, you are the one that likes to make up sh1t for fun.

Derogatory attitude isn't even a psychological term of any kind. You made that up all by yourself because you are a focking clueless idiot.
You understand the concept of stringing multiple words together? It's not like I claimed it was a psychological disorder or something. You can look up "derogatory" and "attitude" and figure out how they can interract, right?
It isn't hard. You're the one making the claim, dipsh1t. It's on you to provide the facts to back it up. You did nothing to verify it.
How can I refute something when there's nothing out there to refute?
Uhhh... I showed a distinct, radical change of action and speculated a reason and stimulus.
That's all I claimed to do. I didn't claim it as undisputable fact, and in fact at one point I specifically stated the "JJ doesn't want a team in SA" theories are conspiracy theories. I even made extra special mention of mine.
At that point, you either accept the admission, or come up with a viable opposing theory. You chose neither.
Of course, as you said, you are the one that likes to make up sh1t for fun.

You do realize that every single thing I said in my points against my own argument is a complete varifiable fact, and pretty well known ones at that. Therefore, your last sentence would have made more sense further up. Of course, since you used this sentence, or derivation of it, so often, it really doesn't matter.
You are a focking clueless idiot because you cannot provide any facts or data to support any of your ass talking.
A more common tactic that actually works is providing evidence to back up your stupid assessments.

Well, considering you just called a bunch of facts assumptions, I'm not going to worry too much about it. Besides the fact that without testimony from the person who made the decision, the impetus for any decision is speculation.

Bowen has taken classes at UTSA.
Don't know if that's what they meant or not...
I thought Bowen finished his degree at UTSA while with the Spurs... or began there before transferring to CSU-F. I don't remember the full details.
The main reason for my post was to point you all to the mind-opening blog I referenced.

Bowen has taken classes there within the last several years. I wasn't sure if he finished a degree or anything at UTSA, but I know he's taken classes there since coming to the Spurs.
