Hard to argue with a 40+ goal season and three championships. Other than that, Messi is better than him.

I'd agree. Messi is on another planet. But these awards are usually heavily influenced by stats and team accomplishments. Kaka won in '07 after destroying the Champion's League and Ronaldo had a very successful season in '08.

Both deserved their awards, we're entering the era of Messi anyways.
