When Miami signed Zo yesterday, they completed a hat trick so to speak. They now have the 3 players that were drafted 1, 2, and 3 in the 92 draft with Shaq, Zo, and Laettner all on the roster.

In fact the top 3 teams in the league have 5 of the top 10 on their rosters with Phoenix having Jim Jackson and the Spurs having Horry on their team.

I guess that draft class is pretty damn good.

What about 5-10? Is anyone from there still hanging around?

Jackson was 4th. Gugliotta is still playing with Atlanta, Weatherspoon is with Houston. Walt Williams just retired this year and is an ESPN analyst. Laphonso Ellis' career was cut short with injuries, too bad because he was a great player. Todd Day stuck around with Milwaukee and is now in the ABA.

I'd say the 96 class was just a little bit better - Iverson, Camby, Shareef, Marbury, Ray Allen, Antoine Walker, Kobe, Pedrag, Steve Nash, Jermaine, and Zydrunas; lots of good role players too, such as Lorenzen Wright, Kittles, Dampier, Delk, McCarty, Derek Fisher, Othella, and Malik Rose.

Last years class not bad either - Labaron, Wade, Carmello, etc.

Add to that 92 draft:

Anthony Peeler, Doug Christie, Jon Barry, Latrell Sprewell, and PJ Brown.

Jim is right...that was a pretty impressive draft as far as producing guys that would last in the NBA.

10 guys from that draft still playing in the NBA...that's pretty fair sticking power even for a recent draft.

The 84 draft is still my choice for best all time, especially when you consider the guys in that class that are not only HOF, but rank as the top or near the top of all time at their position(*****) and several who had long and good careers(*).

1. OLAJUWON*****
2. Sam Bowie (injuries)
3. JORDAN*****
4. Sam Perkins*
5. BARKLEY*****
6. Melvin Turpin
7. Alvin Robertson*
8. Lancaster Gordon
9. Otis Thorpe*
10. Leon Wood
11. Kevin Willis*
12. Tim McCormick
13. Jay Humphries
14. Michael Cage*
15. Terrance Stansbury
16. STOCKTON *****

46. Jerome Kersey*
213. Carl Lewis(yes, that Carl Lewis, also drafted by the Cowboys)

This class could put out a starting line-up of:

PG Stockton
SG Jordan
SF does it matter?
PF Barkley
C Olajuwon

Game over? :wow

I happen to like that draft class, especially the #11 pick. :)
