Detroit is only 5 - 11 against teams with winning records this season, compared to 19 - 7 against the weaker teams in the NBA. It should come as no surprise they have been getting beat down against marginal Western Conference playoff teams lately.

We can't beat anybody anymore. But we play much better against the contenders. Go figure.

Interesting who those 5 teams are though: Lakers, Cavs, Magic, Spurs, Nuggets.

Well, you might have to discount the Cavs game a little. I think that was what, the 2nd or 3rd game of the season? The team really had not gelled at that point, and if I recall correctly, Mike Brown's rotation had Mo and LeBron on the bench at the same time. Completely different team now with a crisp rotation.

Cavs game was 11th game of season.

Anywho, this is a common trend among mediocre teams (bad record v +.500). That's what makes them mediocre.

The Pistons are as mentioned intriguingly 4-2 against what I'd consider the 5 best teams in the NBA though.

Cleveland's 12th game of the season and they were 9-2. And, it was the Pistons first game back after a four game west coast trip.

Cavs were playing the second of a back-to-back, but it was a legit win by Detroit.

Detroit has been extremely inconsistent, but aside from Boston, they have played pretty well against some of the best teams in the league.

Other than their 1st quarter defense, you can't fault how the Pistons played tonight. They shot over 50% and had one turnover. They just ran into a deeper team who was hot early on. Nice shot selection from Rasheed Wallace, though. He always gets hooked when white boys light him up.
